Sara is property-hunting

Sara is sitting in the café flat, looking at the website of Tomos ac Ellis, particularly a house in Llanarthur at £425 per month.

The atmosphere is still tense

When Kelly comes upstairs, she closes the laptop, and it is obvious that the atmosphere between them is still rather tense.

"A weekend away does the world of good"

Apparently Kelly has been away for a few days;  “A weekend away does the world of good,” she says, “A chance to recharge the batteries – and a chance for you to sort things.   I don’t need to remind you that you’re moving out today, do I?”

"We're going to see a flat now"

Sara answers that she and Dylan are going to see a flat now, and Kelly regards that as good;  “My conscience is clear, then.”

She resumes her search

Looking suitably aggrieved, Sara returns to her property search.

"The VAT needs doing now!"

In the garage, Britt is sifting through paperwork and complains to Colin, “Thanks very much, Garry!   The VAT needs doing now – this should have been done two months ago!”

"Two months isn't bad, Britt!"

Colin is under the impression that two months is not bad, and thinks that the Queen will wait for her money;  “She can get a small loan if she’s skint!”

"I'm hopeless at maths – and you're not much better"

Britt complains that she is hopeless at maths, and he is not much better, so he advises her to phone Garry to come back now;

"Garry's had weeks to sort his head out"

“He’s had weeks to sort his head out,” but she replies that Garry has switched off his phone.

Colin’s next suggestion is the accountant, which meets with the response, “Garry doesn’t like him – he’s too nosy.”

"I know who can help us"

Colin has an idea of who can help them with this problem.

DJ creeps out of the shop flat . . .

Looking around to make sure that the coast is clear, DJ and Sioned emerge from the shop flat door into the alley;

. . . closely followed by Sioned

she locks the door behind them.

"We don't want people to know we've been misbehaving"

“DJ, we don’t want people to know that we’ve been misbehaving,”

DJ buttons up his shirt

Sioned tells him, so he buttons up his shirt.

“We don’t want Mathew and Izzy to know we’ve been there either,” he adds, but she assures him that they never go up to the attic room, so he has no need to worry.

"See you back at Penrhewl, Snwcsyn!"

“See you back at Penrhewl, Snwcsyn [literally ‘snooker’],” she says, he wonders where that came from, so she explains, “That’s what Auntie Marian called Bob – do you like it?”   DJ concludes that she is turning really sloppy.

They are under surveillance . . .

As she blows a kiss to him, they are being watched from inside the café by Jason.

. . . from the café

“Did you see that?   DJ and Sioned – there’s something going on there.”

"You're imagining things, Jase"

Kelly says that he is imagining things, but he insists, “There’s nothing wrong with my eyes – she just blew him a kiss.

"I know what I saw, all right?

“They might not be as good as they used to be, but I know what I saw, all right?

Kelly is full of smiles

Kelly is smiling as he leaves the café.

"He should have been here ten minutes ago!"

Britt is in a bad mood, moaning, “He should have been here ten minutes ago!” and Colin urges her to go easy on him.

"Checking up on me, are you?"

Then Gerwyn comes in, and wants to know if they are checking up on him, explaining that he has been to get some parts.

"We've got an office job for you today, Ger"

“Well done,” begins Britt, “But I’ve got an office job for you today, Ger.”   He does not like the sound of this,

"It's easy to get fed up, doing the same old thing"

and Colin, maintaining that it is it easy to get fed up doing the same old thing day after day, does nothing to reassure him.

"The VAT needs doing"

“Yes, the VAT needs doing,” she continues, “Don’t worry, Colin will bring you plenty of fresh coffees.”

"I'm a mechanic"

Gerwyn points out to her that he is a mechanic, and Colin reminds him that he used to run his own business, and will know exactly what to do with those invoices.

"I'm not doing any favours for Garry!"

“No, sorry!” is Gerwyn’s firm reply, and no amount of persuasion will work,   “This would be a favour for Garry, not for you – so no, I’m not doing it!”

"I'm your boss now, so you do what I say!"

“Well, you’re happy enough to work in his garage,” snarls Britt, “Hey, Ger, listen – I haven’t got time to waste arguing with you.   I’m your boss now, so you do what I say – and your job today is the VAT.”

"Stuff your VAT and stuff your job!"

Gerwyn is angered by this and forcefully informs her, “Stuff your VAT and stuff your job!   You’ve got a cheek!” and he marches out of the garage.

"Well done, Col – brilliant idea!"

Britt then blames Colin for having the idea in the first place, stressing that they do not have a mechanic now.

"We'll do the VAT together"

He proposes that they do the VAT together, and then they will find a mechanic,

"No – I've thought of a plan B"

but Britt has thought of a plan B.

Jason has been speaking to Dai in Australia

Jason comes back into the café, again sadly devoid of customers, and reports to Kelly that he has been on the phone to Australia.   “Why can’t Dai just admit that selling APD isn’t a sensible idea, and leave things alone?”

"When they get to 60, they want to put their feet up"

She explains that when someone gets to 60, they start to think about things differently, and want to put their feet up.

"Ffion thinks it's a good idea"

Jason protests, “No-one’s stopping him doing that – just let me run things now.   Ffion thinks it’s a good idea!”

"Ffion?"

Kelly looks at him, quizzically,

DJ comes into the café

just as DJ comes in.

“Aha, here he is!   And how are you?” laughs Jason;

"Very busy, delivering hampers"

DJ says that he is very busy, delivering hampers for Cae Glas.

"I saw you two earlier!"

“No, I meant the two of you - you and Sioned – I saw you earlier, blowing kisses to each other.”

“Oh, you think we’re an item now, do you?” DJ rather nervously asks,

"Don't make me laugh – me and Sioned?"

“Don’t make me laugh – me and Sioned?”

"See, I told you, Jase"

Kelly regards this as confirmation of what she said earlier,

"Stop spreading rumours"

and DJ advises, “You should stop spreading rumours, sell your share of APD and give Dai and Diane the Christmas present they deserve.”

"That is a very good point!"

Kelly says that is a very good point, and Jason feels in a minority.

"I've got a job for you"

Britt arrives at the Deri, places the two boxes of paperwork on the bar and informs Dani, “I’ve got a job for you – the VAT needs to be done.”

"I thought you were in charge now"

Dani was under the impression that Britt was in charge now, because the businesses belong to her and Garry.

"You still work for us, so sort it out!"

“You still work for us, so sort it out!” orders Britt, “The rest of the invoices are in the filing cabinet in the garage – OK, thanks.”

"It wasn't my idea, Dani"

After she has walked out, Colin says that this was not his idea;

"Just do the VAT, then you'll get some peace"

“Look, Dani, just do the VAT, then youll get some peace, guaranteed.”

Kelly comes upstairs

Jason is sitting in the flat when Kelly comes up from the café;

"Why don't you want to sell your share?"

“Right, I don’t want to interfere, and you might prefer to discuss this with Ffion, but why don’t you want to sell your share of the business?”

"You're angry because I discussed it with Ffion"

He realises that she is angry because he discussed the matter with Ffion before her.

"You should be discussing this with me"

“No, I’m not angry – you and Ffion are big mates, right?   Surely, though, you should be discussing this with me,” Kelly points out, and he explains why he was reluctant to discuss with her.

"I was scared, Kelly"

“I was scared – I’m really happy with how things are at the moment, and I’m scared a big change in my – like selling APD – will be a huge shock to the system.   That’s the last thing I need right now – the last thing I need is a lot of money in my pocket.   I’ll start gambling again –

He is afraid of losing Kelly

“I’ll lose everything again – lose everyone’s respect again – what if I lose you and Ifan?”

"You're not going to lose me – or Ifan"

She makes it abundantly clear that he is not going to lose her – or Ifan;  “And you’re not going to start gambling because you sold APD.

"I know what it's like to live with an addiction, Jase"

“Do you know how I know that?   Because I know what it’s like to live with an addiction, Jase.

"I'm here for you – now and for ever!"

“I’m here for you – now and for ever!”

Jason is reassured

He nods and smiles at her.

"Oi, Dylan!   Where have you been?"

As Dylan comes out of the café, Sara calls after him, “Where have you been?   I’ve been trying to get hold of you.

"I've told Kelly we've found a flat"

“Listen, I’ve been a bit hasty –I’ve told Kelly that we’ve found a flat.   It’s a lie – she’s kicking us out today.   What are we going to do?”

Dylan is more interested in what is going on . . .

Dylan’s attention has been attracted by

. . . across the road, outside number 10

Gerwyn coming out of his house carrying a large case, and loading it into his car.

"I'll sort something out, Sara"

He tells Sara that he will sort something out, and she snaps at him,

"Just make sure you do!"

“You said that last weekend!   Make sure you do!”   When she walks away, Dylan heads across the road.

Dani makes a start on the VAT

Dani is looking through the garage paperwork when Tyler asks if she is ready to go shopping.

"It's easier than falling out with Britt"

“I can’t, sorry,” she replies, “I’ve got to do the VAT for the garage – because it’s easier than falling out with Britt.”

He is shocked;  “This is not the Dani I know, who just does what someone else tells her to do – Britt’s a bully,” he tells her, but she says they can go Christmas shopping tomorrow.

"I'm sure that used to be the password!"

She puts her password, ‘Dani1988’ into the laptop, then exclaims, “That used to be the password!

"Don't say that Garry's changed to to 'Jaclyn1925'!"

“Don’t say that Garry’s changed it to ‘Jaclyn1925’!   Oh, Tyler, what am I doing?   You know what?

"You're right – Britt can do this!"

“You’re right – Britt can do this!”

"I don't understand, Gerwyn"

Inside number 10 Dylan says that he cannot understand, and Gerwyn spells it out, “I’ve had enough – I’m leaving Cwmderi.”   Dylan protests that he cannot leave without telling Guto and Tesni.

"Other people's marriages fall apart, not ours"

“I’ve got no experience of dealing with something like this,” Gerwyn groans, “Other people’s marriages fall apart, not ours.”

"She didn't go with Garry"

Dylan argues, “It hasn’t fallen apart – she didn’t go with Garry.   She wants to be with you, that’s obvious,” but Gerwyn does not know what to believe;  he knows things will never be the same again.

"Everywhere I look I'm reminded of Garry"

Dylan disagrees, and Gerwyn says that everywhere he looks, he is reminded of Garry.   “He owns half the village – that’s why I had to give up the job –

"I don't want him to be my boss!"

“I don’t want him to be my boss, and I don’t want him anywhere near my family!”

"Garry Monk isn't coming back to Cwmderi, OK?"

With a great deal of conviction, Dylan emphasises, “Garry Monk isn’t coming back to Cwmderi, OK?”

"How can you be so sure of that?"

Gerwyn wonders how he can be so sure of that, and demands if Dylan knows something.

"He gets fed up with living in the same place"

He denies that he does, and maintains, “He’s the type of guy who gets fed up of living in the same place for too long.”   Gerwyn thinks he is talking rubbish, as Garry has lived here for years,

"He's not going to turn his back on his kids and businesses"

and is not going to turn his back on his kids and businesses.

“He was using Jaclyn as an excuse to go away for ever,” Dylan insists, “When she said no, he went anyway, because he’s a selfish swine.   But Jaclyn realised that before it was too late, didn’t she?

"Don't let Garry ruin your marriage"

“Don’t let Garry ruin your marriage.”

Is he persuading Gerwyn?

He appears to be convincing Gerwyn.

Sioned reminisces about last Christmas

At Penrhewl, as they prepare the Christmas hampers, Sioned recalls, “I remember Jim making a real mess of these hampers last year – Eifion and I had to do them all again.   I was so angry with him.

"A lot has happened since then"

“A lot has happened since then.”

DJ reminds her that a lot of good things have happened, too;

"Jason saw us coming out of the shop flat"

“Jason asked me if there was something going on between us – he saw us coming out of the shop flat.   I told him he was imagining things.”

"I wouldn't mind if people found out"

Sioned says she would not mind if people did find out about them, but he considers that it might be better to wait until Dai and Diane come home;

"I do like you, mind, Sioned"

“Mind you, I do like you, he adds.”

"And I like you, too"

Sioned confirms that she does like him too.

"Do you think I'm getting boring?"

At number 10, Gerwyn asks, “Do you think I’m getting boring?”

"The marriage has gone stale, not you"

and Dylan tells him that the marriage has gone stale, not him.   It is easy for a relationship to lose its excitement.

"I've never been a romantic bloke"

“I’ve never been a romantic bloke,” Gerwyn confesses, and is told that now is the time to do something about it.

"This is just a wobble"

“Think about that, instead of being angry with Garry and Jaclyn,” advises Dylan, “Otherwise, youre the one suffering – this is just a wobble.”

"Why are you so eager for us to stay together?"

Gerwyn enquires why he is so eager for Jaclyn and him to stay together;  “You’ve never liked me.”

"It's my fault for that drugs business"

Dylan explains that it is all his fault, for dragging them into that drugs business, and it put their marriage under pressure.   Gerwyn cannot disagree with that.

“Just give her one more chance,” pleads Dylan,

"Go and fetch the hoover, then"

and Gerwyn tells him to go and fetch the vacuum cleaner.

Dani's arrival startles Britt

Britt is dozing in the chip shop flat when Dani comes in silently and slams down the boxes of paperwork on the kitchen worktop;  “You’ve finished them already?   I haven’t given you enough credit,” Britt says, surprised.

"They're in your name, so you sort them out!"

Dani informs her, “Garry put the businesses in your name, so you can sort them out.”

"You won't get your wages this month!"

Britt warns that she will not get her wages this month, and is told, “I don’t know what your problem is, but I’ve always been here for you.   Garry cheated on me – and it’s Garry who has left us in this mess.”

"You didn't have to disrespect him in front of everyone!"

“But you didn’t have to disrespect him in front of everyone,” Britt growls, and Dani demands what she was supposed to do;  pretend that nothing had happened?   “Yes, and deal with it in private, as a family,” Britt rages, “Now then, I’ve told you what I want you to do – if you don’t listen, it will be your loss.”

"We'll see, shall we?"

“We’ll see, shall we?” is Dani’s final comment as she leaves.

Dylan operates the vacuum cleaner

At number 10, Dylan is wielding the vacuum cleaner and Gerwyn is filling a black sack with rubbish;

"I need some time away to think"

he is not sure whether he is going to take his case back upstairs, arguing that he needs some time away to think about things properly.

"Do you still love Jaclyn?"

“Do you still love Jaclyn?” he is asked, “If you two love each other and are willing to work on your relationship, you’ll be fine.   You’ve got everything you want here.”

"How long have you been such an expert?"

Gerwyn enquires how long Dylan has been such an expert.

"Since I realised how much Sara and I love each other"

“Since I realised how much Sara and I love each other,” Dylan answers;

"Are you going to stay for lunch?"

Gerwyn thanks him, and invites him to stay for lunch, but first Dylan has to find somewhere for Sara and him to live.

"I'm not sure Sara will be happy"  — she never is

“I’ve found somewhere in Cwmderi, but I’m not sure Sara will be happy.”

Jason has been talking to Dai again

Jason has just made a phone call;  he informs Kelly that Dai is delighted, and so is his mother.   “He wants me to phone Daf, to see if I can squeeze a few more thousand out of him.   So there we are – there’s no turning back now.”

"You've made the right decision, Jase"

Kelly encourages him that he has made the right decision.

Fingers crossed!

As they both cross their fingers,

Jason dials Daf's number

Jason phones Daf;  “It’s Jason Francis here, from APD.

"We can discuss the final price over a pint"

“I’m phoning to let you know you can tell your solicitors to go ahead with the paperwork to complete the purchase, and we can discuss the final price over a pint.   How does that suit?”

"What do you mean – you're not interested?"

Then his face suddenly falls;  “Sorry – what?   What do you mean – you’re not interested any more?”

"You will find someone else, Jase"

Daf hangs up on him, and Kelly tries to reassure him that he will find someone else.

"Thank heavens Dai is on the other side of the world!"

Jason sighs, “Thank heavens Dai is on the other side of the world – that’s all I can say!” and throws down his phone.

Dani is wrapped in a blanket

Dani is wrapped in a blanket, sitting on the sofa, when Tyler wants to know, “Are we going shopping today or not?   If not, I’m going to see Aled.”

"He doesn't love me any more, does he?"

Dani muses, “He doesn’t love me any more does he?”

"Jaclyn is just a mid-life crisis"

Tyler suggests that Jaclyn is just a mid-life crisis.

"So where is he?"

“So where is he?” she goes on, “He obviously doesn’t love me, or he’d be here.   And do you know what hurts the most?

"He doesn't care about the children"

“The fact that he doesn’t care about the children.

"Half of everything he owns – for the children"

“So I’m going to talk to a solicitor and I’m going to make sure I get half of everything he owns – for the children.”

"That's good, Dani"

Tyler is glad to hear this,

"I'm not going to let Garry Monk make a fool of me again!"

and she continues, “I’m not going to let Garry Monk make a fool of me again!”

She looks at the photo

Dani turns and looks at the photo of her and Garry.
