Anita is definitely not happy

As Anita sits, looking very depressed, Siôn comes into the room, telling her, “You know what – a hedge to replace that fence would be better for the environment.”

"Are you all right, Anita?"

He receives no response and enquires if she is all right;  she replies that it is just one of those days.

"No, not since the tablets were changed"

“Are those anti-anxiety tablets making you feel sick again?,” he enquires, but she says she has not had that problem since the tablets were changed.

"Parcel for you!"

At that moment, Mark comes in with a parcel for them, commenting that the door was open.

Anita shouts at Mark

Anita shouts at him, “Can you leave it on the doorstep next time, please?”

"Did you have to be so rude?"

Siôn explains that she did not sleep very well, and then reprimands Anita for being so rude.

"I'm worried Kelly is going to report me to the police!"

She finally confesses, “Siôn, I’ve done something terrible – and I’m worried that Kelly’s going to report me to the police.”   He wonders whatever she is talking about, and Anita continues,

"Those nasty letters – I sent them!"

“You know those nasty letters she’s been getting?   Well, I sent them!”

Siôn is lost for words

Siôn is absolutely dumbfounded.

Guto is on his way out of the house

At number 10, Guto comes downstairs with a bag and puts on his coat;

"I'm not staying here if she's here!"

he tells his father, “I’m not staying here if she’s here!   You’re a fool for giving her a second chance!”

Jaclyn just keeps on reading

He walks out, slamming the door behind him, and Jaclyn simply carries on reading her magazine.

"What were you trying to do, Anita?"

Anita begs Siôn to say something;  “I know you’ve both been through a difficult period recently,” he begins, “But what were you trying to do?”

"Perhaps I was trying to frighten her"

She does not know the answer to that, suspecting that she might have been trying to frighten Kelly;  “I miss her – she doesn’t turn to me like she used to.”   Siôn thought that they were getting on well, but Anita adds, “Things haven’t been the same since Paul.”

"Right – go over and see her"

Siôn sighs, “It all takes time.   Right – this won’t solve anything go over and see her, apologise and ask her for forgiveness.”

She does not want to do that

She looks reluctant to do this, but he urges, “Come on – I’ll come to the café with you.”

"Are you sure it won't be awkward?"

Guto has arrived at the shop flat, and Mathew asks him, “Are you sure it won’t be awkward, living here with us?”

"You can snog every night, if you want"

Guto is so desperate he assures that that they can snog in front of him every night if they want – that is better than being at home with his parents.

"But how about Tesni?"

He goes on, “Tes will be fine, and if you’re worried about her coming over all the time, don’t be, because we’re not really talking at the moment.”

"I'll text you later"

Mathew says that they will talk it over and will text him with the answer;  Guto picks up his bag and leaves.

"I like it being just you and me"

Izzy says, “I like it being just you and me,” but Mathew thinks that Guto sounded pretty desperate;  “I know he said Tesni won’t be a problem, but they’re bound to make up,” she continues.

"I hope he finds somewhere else"

Mathew just hopes that he finds somewhere else to live.

"People will be glad to see you, Jacs"

As they come out of the door of number 10, Jaclyn is hesitant;  “I don’t think I’m ready for this,” but Gerwyn is sure that people will be glad to see her again, and in any case, they need to find Guto.

Tyler and Aled approach

Tyler and Aled are approaching;

"Can you clean our windows, Tyler?"

Gerwyn asks if their windows can be cleaned.

"You've ruined my sister's life!"

Tyler snarls at Jaclyn, “You’ve got a cheek, landing back here – you’ve ruined my sister’s life!” and marches off.

"Guto won't want to see me, anyway"

This confirms Jaclyn’s suspicions, and she retires back into the house, remarking that Guto will not want to see her anyway.

Siôn encourages Anita to face Kelly

Siôn comes into the alley, followed, at a distance, by Anita;  she is far from keen to confront Kelly,

"You have to talk to her"

but he insists, “You have to talk to her.”

She heads towards the café

She slowly crosses the road to the café.

"A lot of new clients have joined"

At number 9, Tesni asks Lisa if she is busy;  “Yes, a lot of new clients have joined,” she is told, and says that she is now ready to start working again.

"I bumped into Ieuan Griffiths"

Tesni admits that she bumped into Ieuan Griffiths the other day, and Lisa warns, “If he makes another complaint, that’s it!”

"He mentioned you'd put up your prices"

“He mentioned that you’ve put up your prices,” Tesni goes on,

"Oh, that's why you've come over"

and Lisa realises that is why she has come over.

"I'll put up the decorations tomorrow"

In the Deri flat, Tyler reminds his sister that it is Christmas, and she says that she will put up the decorations with the kids tomorrow.

"Tyler said you go all out with Christmas decorations"

Aled remarks that Tyler said she always goes all out with Christmas decorations, and he is looking forward to seeing the place.

“You’ve seen Jaclyn – is that what’s wrong?” asks Tyler,

"Oh – is she back?"

and this comes as news to Dani.

After a pause, she replies, “It doesn’t matter to me if she’s back or not.

"Just as long as she doesn't show her face here"

“Just as long as she doesn’t show her face here.”

"Are you coming to the café with us?"

Tyler makes the suggestion that she comes to the café for lunch with them, but she says that she is really busy today, despite the fact that she is lounging on the sofa.

"Are you sure you're OK?"

Tyler leaves the flat, but Aled enquires if she is sure she is OK;

"Of course I am"

she tells him that she is, but when he has gone,

Dani gets out a box . . .

she goes to a drawer and takes out a small box.

. . . removes her wedding ring . . .

She removes her wedding ring,

. . . and places it in the box

places it in the box and closes it with a click.

Anita attempts to explain her actions

Anita is attempting to explain to Kelly, “I had this stupid idea that if I sent you letters, you would have to turn to me for help and comfort – just like the old days.”

"You know how much I've tortured myself"

Kelly shakes her head;  “You know how much I’ve tortured myself about those letters.   I thought I had some stalker around the place – but it was you!   I don’t understand – I don’t, because we’ve built so many bridges recently – or am I just imagining it?”

"Things are still not right between us"

Anita whimpers that it is true, but things are still not right between them;  “Things haven’t been right since Paul.”

"You're not using Paul as an excuse, OK?"

Kelly is not having that;  “No – you’re not using him as an excuse, OK?   It’s not true – this is your issue, OK?

"You obviously haven't forgiven me"

“I’ve forgiven you for everything that happened – you obviously haven’t forgiven me.”

"I have, Kelly"

When Anita answers that she has, she is asked, “What’s the problem, then?”

"Nobody needs me any more"

Anita says that she feels so low, as if nobody needs her any more;  “You know that I think the world of you, but I’ve just lost my grip on things recently.   The lockdown hasn’t helped, either – it’s given me too much time to think about things.”

"You can't use the pandemic as an excuse"

Kelly groans, “I don’t think you can use a pandemic as an excuse for what you’ve done to me, sorry!”

"I want you to understand what things were like for me"

and Anita looks suitably repentant, insisting that she was just trying to get Kelly to understand what things have been like for her.

"Have you reported me to the police?"

As she gets up to leave, Anita enquires, “Have you reported me to the police?”   When Kelly replies that she has not, Anita goes on, “I’m not going to ask you not to, because I know I’ve hurt you –

"Now I have to face the consequences"

“and now I have to face the consequences.   I’ll stay out of your way, OK?   I’ll tell the police everything, if that’s what you want.”   She goes down the stairs,

Kelly remains silent

as Kelly remains silent.

Lisa complains she is only just covering her costs . . .

“I know I said you’d get a pay rise, but I’m only just covering my costs,” maintains Lisa, “Just keep up the good work – I’m not saying you won't get a pay rise at some point, but I can’t offer you more right now.”

. . . and Tesni seems to have been taken in by this

Tesni accepts this situation, and as she leaves, Lisa says she admires her for coming over to ask;  “You’re a fast learner.”

Lisa is happy with her performance

She looks pleased with herself.

"Dani didn't look like she was coping"

In the café,  Aled says, “Dani didn’t look like she was coping,”

"She's tough, Aled"

but is assured by Tyler that she is tough.   “She was really quiet – and you say she’s usually Miss Chatterbox,” Aled goes on, “Even the toughest people need help sometimes, you know.”

"I suppose you may be right"

Tyler concedes that he may be right.

"He's just trying to prove a point"

Tesni is back home, and Jaclyn asks if she knows where Guto went;  “No – he is just trying to prove a point,” she replies, “I don’t think he’ll go anywhere.”

"He's not answering his phone, either"

Gerwyn comes in and has not located Guto, neither is he answering his phone.

"What's the point of trying to save this marriage?"

“What’s the point of trying to save this marriage if this family falls apart anyway?” rages Jaclyn.

"I'm moving in with Dani"

At Maes-y-Deri, Tyler has packed his bag, much to the surprise of Kath;  “Dani’s not coping very well, so I’m moving in with her,” he says,

"I've left some of your things on the stairs, Mark"

and informs Mark, “Some of your things were in the room, and I’ve left them on the stairs.”

"Hold on – you owe me £200, good boy!"

“Hold on, good boy!” protests Kath, “The agreement says you have to give a month’s notice!”   Tyler reminds her that there is no agreement, but she insists, “The agreement we shook hands on!   If you leave now, you owe me £200.”   Tyler tells them to take it out of his window cleaning wages.

Mark delves in the bag of bits and pieces

Mark has retrieved the items from the stairs, and advises Tyler to forget about the money;  “Hey, I make the rules here!” his mother rages, “£200, good boy – it’s a lot of money before Christmas!” she shouts after Tyler.

"What the hell?"

Mark has been looking through the bag from the stairs, and demands, “What the hell?

"Do you know anything about these letters from Spain?"

“Do you know anything about these letters from Spain?”

"Ooh-er – he's found them!"

Kath has some explaining to do.

"Did you get any kind of explanation?"

Kelly is sitting quietly in the café flat when Siôn arrives;  “Sorry to disturb you – did you get any kind of explanation?”

Kelly replies, “Sort of,” and he goes on that he knows Anita has hurt Kelly, but is worried that she will fall to pieces if they do not sort it out;  life has been unkind to her several times.

"Yeah, we've all been in the wars, Siôn, OK?"

“Yeah, we’ve all been in the wars, Siôn, OK?” Kelly argues.   He says that she has found herself in a hole and cannot get out of it.   “There’s not a lot I can do,” is Kelly’s retort.

"She's on anti-anxiety tablets"

“There are things you don’t know,” he adds, and she urges him to spit it out.   “She’s suffering – she’s on anti-anxiety tablets,”

This is news to Kelly

and this comes as a revelation to Kelly.   Siôn leaves without a further word.

Mathew find Guto sitting out in the street

Mathew discovers Guto, sitting on the corner, outside Cwm Delhi and takes pity on him,

"Izzy will be fine, but you'll have to pay rent"

“Come and stay with us – Izzy will be fine, but you’ll have to pay rent.

"Thanks, Mathew"

Guto is very grateful to him.

Dani is putting up Christmas decorations

In the Deri flat, Dani is decorating the Christmas tree, with Tyler’s help;  he says that it looks great;

"You've looked after me enough times"

“You’ve looked after me enough times,” he adds, and she agrees that it is lovely to have him there.

"Good riddance to Garry Monk!"

“Good riddance to Garry Monk!” she declares, and he advises her to contact the solicitor again to insist that she gets more than her fair share.

"You've done a brilliant job"

Aled arrives and also says that they have done a brilliant job;  Dani sends Tyler downstairs for a bottle of Prosecco.

Dani's unconventional eating habits

She tells Aled that she likes to put a piece of chocolate on a crisp and eat it,

"You've taken off your ring"

which he regards as really weird.   He notices that she has taken off her ring;

"No-one can do anything without you noticing"

“No-one can do anything around here without you knowing about it,” she comments,

"I miss it already, actually"

“It feels a bit odd, not having it on – I miss it already, actually.”

"Nobody would blame you for missing Garry"

He is sure that she will get used to it;  “And nobody would blame you for missing Garry, you know.   I don’t know if Tyler has told you, when my Dad lived with us, he wasn’t very nice to me.   I hated him most of the time – but I still love him.”

"Yeah, it's tough to move on"

Dani appreciates that it is tough to move on.

Tyler brings in the Prosecco

The Prosecco arrives, and Dani promises that they are going to have the best Christmas ever.

Anita hears that Kelly has arrived

At Y Felin, Anita is disturbed to hear Siôn inviting Kelly into the house;

"Why didn't you tell me about the anxiety tablets?"

“Why didn’t you tell me about the anxiety tablets?” she demands, and Siôn explains that he did not think there should be any secrets between the two of them.   He will now leave them alone.

"It's nothing to worry about – I'm fine"

Anita says that she has been taking the tablets for a while;  “Since before the Covid – I just haven’t been sleeping well – but it’s nothing for you to worry about – I’m fine.”

"You're not, though, are you?"

“You’re not, though, are you?” Kelly snaps, “Otherwise, you would have told me about the tablets –

"And you definitely wouldn't have sent these!"

“and you definitely would not have sent these,” as she holds up the letters.

This is all getting too much for Kelly

Kelly is rapidly becoming overwhelmed with emotion as she continues, “I’m just sorry I didn’t realise before now how much you were struggling.   These letters aren’t important.”

Anita is extremely relieved

Anita breathes a sigh of relief

"Please don't do this on your own, Auntie Neet"

as she is urged, “Please don’t do this on your own – please talk to me, OK?”

Kelly is on the point of breaking down as she sobs, “I know you’ve lost a lot of people in your life – but you’re not going to lose me!

"I'm going to help you through this"

“I’m going to help you through this”   Anita is by this time also in tears.

"You have no right to hide things from me!"

Mark furiously shouts at his mother, “You have no right to hide things from me!”

"You said you wouldn't contact her again"

She replies that he was insistent during the lockdown that he would not be contacting Debbie again.

"There are ten letters here!"

“There are ten letters here!” he exclaims,

"Dennie knows very well you're a 'pushover'!"

and she describes him as ‘a pushover’, and ‘soft’, as Debbie well knows.

"Why do you always have to interfere?"

“Why can’t you just leave things alone?   Why do you always have to interfere?” he demands.

I have to protect you"

She maintains that she has to protect him, warning that if the police found out about the letters and phone calls, he could end up in jail.   “Don’t be so dramatic!” he snarls, and his mother advises him not to believe a word Debbie says, stressing that she does not know the first thing about love.

"No wonder Stacey moved away – I should have done!"

Mark simply want her to stop;  “No wonder Stacey moved away – that’s exactly what I should have done years ago!”

"Well, you know where the door is!"

She tells him that he knows where the door is;  he nods and walks out of the house.
