"Eclairs and Custard Tarts"
Kelly pays for her purchases in the deli and checks that she has everything; “Right, antipasti selection, box of eclairs and custard tarts.”
"No point asking who nicked your custard tart"
Then she walks across to Ieuan, who is sitting, looking depressed. “There’s no point asking who nicked your custard tart, is there?”
He replies that he does not want to talk about Indeg;
"All the time she had sticky fingers!"
“How could she do that? She spends time with her family and all that time she had sticky fingers.”
"Don't trust a manicurist with sticky fingers"
Kelly advises him, “There we go – don’t ever trust a manicurist with sticky fingers,” and leaves the deli,
She mets Jinx in the doorway
meeting Jinx in the doorway.
"I got a phone call for you . . ."
He goes over to another table where Dani is sitting; “Something weird – I got a phone call for you on the house phone from the NHS –
". . . you should let them know you've changed your number"
they want you to phone them back – I hope everything is all right. Perhaps you should let them know that you have moved house and changed your number.”
"I'll sort it"
Dani replies that she will sort it.
"It could be months before I can go back to work"
In the hospital, Sioned brings Melfa a coffee as Mathew is telling them, “It could be months before I can return to work,
"Don't worry about that now"
but Sioned maintains that he does not need to worry about that now.
"I hope the money will help"
“In the meantime, I hope the money will help – I'll transfer it once I get your details.”
"Money?"
Mathew looks very puzzled and asks what money she is talking about.
Now Sioned is worried
Melfa realises that he does not know anything about this arrangement,
He pretends he knows
but he improvises, “The money, of course – sorry, I haven’t quite woken up yet.”
Sioned and Melfa look at each other
Sioned and Melfa look at each other.
"He's not answering his phone"
It appears that Indeg has spent the night at number 10 with Ows; she is now trying to contact her grandfather, but he is not answering his phone.
"He needs time to calm down"
She is told that he probably needs time to calm down and Indeg thanks Ows for letting her stay last night.
"Tell him and Siwsi the truth"
“I get it that you feel awful, but you need to stop feeling so guilty – it’s not your fault, just tell him and Siwsi the truth.”
"No-one is supposed to know"
She, however, answers that she cannot; “No-one is supposed to know that I’m giving her jewellery.”
"She obviously doesn't care much about you"
Ows cannot understand why Indeg cares so much; “She obviously doesn’t care about you, does she?”
Melfa is going to stretch her legs
At the hospital, Melfa says that she will go to stretch her legs before heading home and promises to come back to see Mathew before she goes.
"I'm so sorry, Math"
As soon as she is out of the door, Sioned apologises, “I’m so sorry – I know that money is poison and I didn’t want to touch it.”
"Why did you ask for it, then?"
"I thought you were going to die . . ."
“Because I thought you were going to die and I had to try and imagine a future without you. Then I started thinking about the future of the farm – the costs and the debts – and facing them on my own.
". . . I panicked, Math"
“I panicked, Math – and I lied to your mother – I said both of us wanted that money – that we were in agreement. I had no right to do that – I’m sorry.”
"You did the right thing"
Mathew does not blame her, but agrees that she did the right thing; “Our future is what is important now – and the truth is, that money will help us out.” Sioned is very relieved to hear that.
"I can't do this any more"
Indeg is in the alley, speaking on her phone; “I can’t do this any more – I’ve upset Tycs, my best friend almost lost her job and I hate myself for it! You can’t force me to – and I’m not going to let you push me around any more!”
Siwsi is approaching . . .
At that moment, Siwsi is approaching as Indeg continues, “I don’t want to – OK, but you’re not going to change my mind – see you later.”
. . . but tried to keep out of sight
Siwsi quickly hides, as Indeg turns around,
She intends to follow Indeg
then follows her.
"Do you want tea or coffee?"
Dani is sitting at Maes-y-Deri, looking very worried, when Mark comes in; he asks whether she wants tea or coffee, but she does not appear to hear him.
"Dan – everything OK?"
“Dan – everything OK?”
She walks across the room . . .
She walks across the room,
. . . and looks at the photo of Seren
picks up a photograph of Seren and looks at it.
Jinx looks critical at his picture
At number 9, Jinx has set up his easel and is looking critically at his latest picture.
"I thought you might like to come over for a viewing . . ."
He makes a phone call; “Hiya, I was thinking you might like to come over to mine tonight for a viewing – no, a viewing of the painting.
". . . Eleri Beynon, you're terrible!"
“Eleri Beynon, you’re terrible! What shall we say? About 7 o’clock? I’m looking forward to it.”
Sioned is multi-tasking
Sioned is trying to tidy up at the farmhouse while speaking on the phone; “Can you check, please?
"I can't afford to pay twice"
“I can’t afford to pay that twice.”
Kelly arrives
Kelly arrives as Sioned promises to pay the bill by the end of the day.
Sioned complains to her that the price of feed has gone up again.
"I've brought some treats from Tamed"
Kelly has brought her some treats from Tamed, which will save her cooking. “You’ll be slaving over a hot stove when Math gets back,”
"There's a lot to do before then"
but Sioned groans that there is a lot to do before then.
“I’m here to help – what can I do?”
"I haven't cleared up after breakfast"
Sioned has not had the chance to clear up after breakfast as she was in a hurry to get the children to the crèche before taking stuff to Mathew.
“And I have to get that form away by the end of the day or . . .”
"I'm on laundry and dishwasher watch, OK? . . ."
Kelly stops her there; “You sort the form – I’m on laundry and dishwasher watch, OK?
". . . then we're going to have a proper chat
“And once we’re finished, I’m going to make us a warming chai latte and we’re going to have a proper chat.”
Sioned does not argue with that
Sioned realises that she does not have a lot of choice.
"Well, have you got it?"
Indeg walks to a bench in front of a playing field, where her contact is waiting for her and demands, “Well, have you got it?” Indeg suggests that they could go for a coffee, if she has got time.
They are being watched
They are being watched by Siwsi, who peers out from behind a tree.
"I want the ring, not more tat!"
When she is handed the brooch, the woman rages, “What am I supposed to do with a blinking brooch, Indeg? I want the ring, not more tat!”
Indeg protests that she cannot just walk in and take the ring off Anita,
"I son't care if you have to cut her finger off!"
but the other woman does not care if she has to cut her finger off. “I’ve brought you loads of stuff,” Indeg goes on.
"That ring's worth a fortune!"
“Yeah, but the ring is worth the most – it’s worth a fortune – and you promised to get it for me! You’re not going to let me down, are you?
"I have a right to have that ring"
“Look, I know it’s difficult, but I have a right to have that ring – I’m relying on you to get it, so if you do me one last favour,
"Then we can go for a coffee and have a catch up"
“perhaps we can go for that coffee and catch up, how does that sound? Good girl.”
Siwsi is confused
Siwsi hides behind the tree as Indeg gets up; she wonders what is going on.
Dani visits Cysgod y Glyn, looking for Garry
Eleri admits Dani to the flat; she wants a chat with Garry, but as he is not there, Eleri asks if she can pass a message to him.
"He said something about a meeting"
“He said something about a meeting – I don’t remember,” so Dani leaves again.
"Sorry for interrupting"
Melfa comes into the farmhouse and apologises for interrupting,
"Just text me, OK?"
but Kelly says that she was just leaving and Sioned thanks her for helping today. Kelly invites her to text if she needs any more help.
"Your'e welcome to stay overnight"
Melfa is just picking up her things before returning to North Wales, but is told that she is welcome to stay overnight if it would make things easier. “It means a lot to Matthew that you came down to see him,” says Sioned.
"I would have given it to you"
“I would have given it to you, you know – the money – if you would asked,” Melfa tell her, “Honestly, I
would have given it to you straight away. I wouldn’t have asked questions. You didn’t have to lie to me.”
"I just thought it would be easier"
Sioned explains that she just thought it would be easier if Melfa thought Mathew was willing for them to have the money;
"Mathew inderstands"
“And he is now, I spoke to him earlier – I explained everything and he understands.”
Melfa issues a warning . . .
Melfa simply considers it a pity that she was not honest with him from the start, “And with me. Look, Sioned, I’m not one to hold a grudge – but don’t ever throw dust in my eyes again! No good will come of it.”
. . . then picks up her case and leaves
Thus saying, she picks up her case and leaves the farm.
"It's not every day that I get unveiled!"
Jinx welcomes Eleri to number 9, and is surprised that she has brought champagne. “I’ve been looking forward to it,” she tells him, “It’s not every day that I get unveiled.”
"I'm looking forward to unveiling you!"
Jinx assures her that he is looking forward to unveiling her,
"Steady on, Huw!"
but she warns him, “Steady on – we’ll have to see how good the sketch is first.” He has the glasses ready.
"There's a little treaty in there"
At the hospital, Sioned informs Mathew that she has brought a couple of things from home for him, “And there is a little treat in there,” she adds, “Kelly brought them – and the children have been enjoying them, too.”
Mathew cannot wait to see them again and she assures him that they cannot wait to see him either.
"I've given Mam the bank details"
“Mam came by before going back up north – I’ve given her the bank details.”
"I really appreciate you doing this, Math"
Sioned really appreciates him doing this for them,
"I've asked her for just enough money . . ."
but he informs her that he has asked for just enough money to pay the fine and to pay for the new slurry pit.
". . . I don't want a penny more than we need"
“I don’t want a penny more than we need to get us out of this hole.”
Sioned is disappointed
Sioned does not appear very happy to hear this and points out that even after this, things will still be difficult for them.
"I've made my decision"
However, he has made his decision and she rather reluctantly says that she accepts it.
"The bag with your razor"
in the bag containing his razor,
She discovers something else in there
is surprised to find the engagement ring.
"I was going to sell it, but I couldn't"
“I was going to sell it to pay the debt, but I couldn’t,” Mathew explains, “I didn’t, because I was still hoping that you might change your mind one day.
"I'm not putting any pressure on you now"
“I’m not saying that to put any pressure on you, especially now.”
"It would be a shame to put it in the box . . ."
She confesses that she is still not quite ready for marriage, but she maintains it would be a shame to put it back in the box.
". . . perhaps it will be safer here"
“Perhaps it will be safer here,” she says, putting it on her finger.
"What are you trying to say?"
Mathew wonders what she is trying to say;
"That I love you"
“That I love you,”
Sioned kisses him
and she kisses him.
The moment has come
The moment of the unveiling has arrived and Jinx removes the covering from his canvas;
"What's wrong? Is it that bad?"
Eleri looks with some puzzlement, so he asks, “What’s wrong? Is it that bad?”
"I never imagined it would be so . . . pretty!"
She shakes her head, remarking, “I never imagined it would be so . . . pretty,”
"I need a little more inspiration"
so he tells her that an artist paints what he sees, but he has not finished it yet, insisting that he needs a little more inspiration.
Eleri is about to supply it
They kiss . . .
as Eleri kisses him;
. . . and topple backwards on to the sofa
they recline to a horizontal position on the sofa.
"I'll ensure they have no fingers left!"
At Y Felin, Ows reassures Indeg, “If anyone puts a finger on you, I’ll ensure they have no fingers left!”
She tells him that in her heart is where it hurts;
"You're better off without them"
“But you were right – the only thing family gives you is hassle and heartbreak.” He confirms that she is better off without them,
"Good title for my autobiography"
then imagines that would be a good title for his autobiography; ‘Hassle and Heartbreak’.
"You've got me now, haven't you?"
She maintains that at least it will have a happy ending; “Of course – you’ve got me now haven’t you? And we’re going to stick together, aren’t we? And Cassie – you’re so lucky to have her in your life now.”
"Have you heard from Siwsi?"
He cannot imagine where he would be without her and wonders if Indeg has heard from Siwsi. “I don’t think it’s a good idea to be here when she comes home either.” He protests that she has given Iolo £100 for rent.
“Don’t worry about the cash – can I stay with you again tonight?”
"You could move in, if you like"
“He enjoys having her around and invites her to move in, if she would like.
Siwsi is back
Then the door opens and Siwsi is back; Indeg explains that she has just come to get her stuff. She announces that she is moving in with Ows.
"What have you been doing today?"
“What have you been doing today?” Siwsi asks and is told that Indeg has just been ‘chilling’.
"In Cwmderi?"
“In Cwmderi?” Siwsi goes on.
"Why all the questions?"
“Why all the questions? I’d better go upstairs and pack.
She goes to get her belongings
Ows follows her upstairs.
Mark has finally got Gabriel to sleep
Mark comes downstairs at Maes-y-Deri and hopes that two episodes of ‘Bluey’ have done the trick, getting Gabriel to sleep.
"Are you going to tell me what's wrong"
“Are you going to tell me what’s wrong, then?”
"The NHS have been trying to get hold of me"
“The NHS have been trying to get hold of me – that’s who I was on the phone to. It wasn’t about me. After Seren’s accident, after they said that she’d died, they asked me if I was willing for her to be a donor – and I agreed. Not an organ donor, because of the way she died,
"A child has received a valve from her heart"
“but a child has received a valve from her heart. I didn’t remember anything about it until I spoke to them – and I’ve tried to find Garry, but I can’t.”
"That's a big shock, Dan"
Mark appreciates that she has had a big shock.
"I can't get my head around it"
“I can’t get my head around it – a part of Seren is keeping a child alive – it’s like she’s saved someone. Anyway, this family has written a letter to us and they were phoning to check that I’m happy for them to send it.
"It's not as easy as that . . ."
“Well, if someone is still alive because of Seren, I want to know more about them, but it’s not as easy as that.
". . . I have to tell Garry first"
“Because I have to tell Garry first.”
"And you're not looking forward to that"
Mark can see that she is not looking forward to doing that
The photo of Seren and a picture she drew
and the camera moves to the photo of Seren nearby.
"I think she's stealing on behalf of someone else"
Ieuan is trying to drown his sorrows in the Deri when Siwsi comes in; “We have to talk about Inds – I don’t think she’s behind this. I think she’s been stealing on behalf of someone else.”
"Trying to blame someone else now, is she?"
“Trying to blame someone else now, is she? Typical!” he groans, but Siwsi is convinced that something else is going on.
"I followed her to this rough estate in Swansea"
“I’ve heard her talking on the phone to someone – and today I followed her to this rough estate in Swansea.”
"I saw her talking to a woman . . ."
Now Ieuan is taking notice; “I saw her talking to a woman – it looked as if they knew each other.
". . . middle-aged-ish, brown hair in a bob"
“She was middle-age-ish, brown hair in a bob.”
Ieuan looks on his phone
Ieuan picks up his phone and scrolls through the photos,
"Yes, that's her . . ."
finding one which Siwsi immediately recognises as being the woman.
"Who is she?"
“Who is she?” Siwsi demands.
"Melanie – Indeg's mother . . ."
“Melanie – Indeg’s mother –
". . . my daughter!"
“my daughter!”
