Anita is puzzled

Anita, wearing her coat, is standing in the kitchen of number 7 with a puzzled look on her face;

She thinks she can hear something

she imagines that she is hearing something coming from the plughole of the kitchen sink.

"No– not today!"

She obviously does not like what she hears, so shouts, “No, not today!” into the plughole.

"Everything's OK, Tycs . . ."

In the living room, Indeg is reporting by phone to her grandfather,

". . . she's eaten her breakfast"

“Yes, Tycs, she’s eaten her breakfast – I sent you a photo.   A coffee in Tamed and then I thought a liquid lunch –

"Me and Anita on the Espresso Martinis"

“me and Anita on the Espresso Martinis – well, obviously I’m not serious!   A tea for Neets and a white wine spritzer for me – no big deal.   We’ll be fine.”

She still regards that sink with suspicion

Anita is still looking nervously at the sink while Indeg makes one last check that they have everything,

"We're ready to leave now"

then tells Anita that they can leave, but she does not appear to be taking it in.

Dani is on her way to her next cleaning job . . .

Dani is walking along the road with her trolley of cleaning materials and speaking on the phone to Cai;  “The Glyndwr in an hour?   The chips are nicer than the Deri’s – but dont tell Cassie!   OK, see you there.”

. . . when Indeg collides with her

As she walks past number 7, Indeg rushes out of the door and collides with her, knocking the phone from her hand.   “Is your phone OK?   I know a bloke in Swansea who can fix screens.”

"No, the phone's fine"

Dani says that her phone is fine,

"What am I like?"

but Indeg goes on, “What am I like?   Head in the clouds as usual.   I’m an absolute liability – Mam used to call me Calamity Jane – I’ve only had one coffee, but it was too much.”

"You're Griffiths' granddaughter"

Dani has come to the conclusion, “You’re Griffiths’ granddaughter – I can see where you get all your energy from!”

"Indeg, or Indi for short"

Indeg, or Indi, introduces herself as does Dani – short for Danielle.”

An unexpected hug

Dani is somewhat taken aback when she is given a hug by Indeg, who explains, “I’m not an old fogey – I don’t do handshakes.”

"You've got the most amazing cheekbones"

Then she looks intently at Dani and exclaims, “You’ve got the most amazing cheekbones – sorry, that’s not a come-on – I’m a make up artist!”

"You may be able to sort out these bags"

Dani imagines that she may be able to sort out the bags under her eyes and she continues that she is looking out for new models all the time.

"I'm a rising star on socials"

“I’m a rising star on socials – are you interested?”

“Well, you know what?   I’ve got a date today, but I don’t want anything too glam,” Dani replies.

Indeg maintains that she has the perfect look for her,

"We'll have to change this shabby Cinderella vibe"

“But we’ll have to change this ‘shabby Cinderella’ vibe.   I’ve got 10k followers on Insta!”

Anita is going for a wander

What neither of them seem to notice is that the front door opens and Anita comes out rather unsteadily and begins to walk along the street.

"Gaynor refused to open the door"

Further along by the postbox, Cassie encounters Ffion and asks, “Have you seen Gaynor since . . ?”   Ffion confirms that she has not, but has tried calling round there;  Gaynor refused to answer the door.

"We should go there this afternoon"

Cassie proposes that they should go there this afternoon.

"Tom's asked me to visit him"

“Tom’s asked me to visit him in prison this afternoon,” sighs Ffion and Cassie is very surprised that she is actually going.   “He said he’s got something important to tell me.”

"You know very well is lying"

“You know very well he’s just lying – he wants you to trust him,” sneers Cassie,

"He may want to confess to me"

but Ffion suspects that he may want to confess to her.   “I know his type,” snarls Cassie, “The swine can’t takresponsibility!”

"Anita – how are you?"

Meanwhile, Anita is making her unsteady way along the street towards them.   Ffion asks how she is, but Anita does not seem to know where she is going.

"I told you to wait in the house"

Indeg has finally noticed her absence and comes running along the street;  “Anita – I told you to wait in the house.”   Anita wonders what she has done wrong;

"You're totally fine"

“No, you’re totally fine – you just scared me.”

She explains to Ffion and Cassie, “Tycs has put me in charge – I’m indebted to him for letting me stay while Kelly is away – massive bust up with my flatmate – a right hoo-ha, to be honest!

"My favourite step-grandmother"

“At least I get time to spend with my favourite . . . step-grandmother.”

Anita is looking particularly confused and they are invited to the Deri for a cup of tea.

"I've just agreed to give Dani a makeover"

However, Indeg has just agreed to give Dani a makeover;  she could also do Anita at the same time.

"She did a good job on me"

Cassie reports that Indeg did a good job on her.

They head back to number 7

As they proceed back to number 7,

"Just you be careful"

Cassie again warns Ffion to take care

Cassie posts her letter

then posts her letter to, Owain Williams, in the box.

Cai is by a tall block of flats . . .

Cai is standing by a tall block of flats [actually Lydstep Flats in Gabalfa, Cardiff] and dials Liv’s number;  he is invited to leave a message after the tone.   “Hiya, Liv, I’m here.   Where are you?”

. . . called Pant Bychain

Then he looks at the address on the map on his phone, which is given as Pant Bychain.

He makes another call – to Dani

He makes another call.

"It's fine – work comes first"

While Indeg is working on Anita’s make-up at Maes-y-Deri, Dani receives a call from Cai that he cannot make their meeting;  “It’s fine – work comes first,” she tells him.

Anita is told that she looks totally lush;

"Hello, what's your name?"

when she looks in the mirror, she comments, “Hello, so what’s your name?”

"It's nothing serious"

Indeg goes across to Dani, wanting to know, “What’s the goss?”   Dani replies that there is someone, but it is nothing serious.

"Serious enough you want to make an effort"

“But serious enough that you want to make an effort,” she is reminded.

Dani says that he has just cancelled so Indeg might as well keep her make-up items,

"You deserve a bit of a pamper"

but Indeg is insistent, “No way – date or no date, you deserve a bit of a pamper – and I need a look to put up on my socials.”

What's he like in the sack?"

But, before she gets to work, Indeg gets down to the basics, “What’s he like in the sack?”

"I'm going to the toilet"

This conversation is interrupted by Anita, who wants to go upstairs to the toilet;  she refuses any help from Indeg;

"I can do it – I'm fine!"

“No – I can do it – I’m fine!” is the reply.

According to Indeg, that gives Dani more time to talk about lover boy.

"I see you're making friends here"

It is visiting time at the prison and Ffion sits opposite Tom;  “I see you’re making friends here,” she remarks as she notices Tom’s black eye.

"It's not easy being an ex-police officer"

He says that it is not easy being an ex-police officer in a place like this.

"What a shame"

“What a shame,” she goes on, with not a hint of sympathy.

"I appreciate that you came"

“It’s nice to see you,” he maintains, “I appreciate the fact that you came.”   Ffion tells him to say what he wants to say, so that she can leave.

“I’ve kept quiet until now because it's taking me a while to work up the courage to speak up – the courage to admit what I’ve suffered.”

"You've suffered?   We know that you killed Cheryl!"

Ffion finds this unbelievable;  “You’ve suffered?   We know that you killed Cheryl.”

"I haven't killed anyone"

He protests that he has not killed anyone, but was only forced to bury the body.   He is adamant that she has to believe this.

"And that was the important thing?"

“And this is the important thing you wanted to tell me?”

"I still love you, Ffion"

He adds that he still loves her.

Liv has come out to see Ca

Outside the block of flats, Liv has now come to meet Cai;

"It's easy to lose track of time"

she apologises for keeping him waiting, explaining that it is easy to lose track of time with a new baby.

"Are you going to invite me to the flat?"

He wonders if she is going to invite him to the flat.

“No – my friend’s working from home, so it’s best not to,” she answers.

"Liv, do you know where Bobby is?"

Just then, a stranger approaches, demanding from Liv whether she knows where Bobby is;  she says that she needs her ‘shopping’,

"I don't know, Shell, I haven't seen him for a while"

but Liv has not seen him.

"No need to ask what Booby's job is"

“There no need to ask what Bobby’s job is – and you know him,” comments Cai, “Where’s Tyler?”

Liv answers that he is with a friend, because he would not settle down.   “Neither would I settle down if I wasn’t at home,” says Cai, but is told that the baby knows Liv better than anyone.

“Iolo is in pieces!” he informs her,

"Are you here to quilt-trip me?"

but she is convinced that he is there to guilt-trip her.   He maintains that he is worried about both of them and wants to know what is going on.

"When I get out, we can be together again"

Back in the prison, Tom is explaining, “When I get out of here, we can be together again – in North Wales, perhaps, as we intended.”

Ffion does not reply

Ffion remains speechless

"I know you still love me, Ffion"

as he goes on, “I know you still love me, Ffion.”

"You're the worst thing that's ever happened to me!"

She snarls, “You’re the worst thing that’s ever happened to me!”

"You still came to see me"

He points out that she still came to see him;

"T o tell you to leave me alone!"

“Yes, to tell you to leave me alone!”

"There's more to it than that"

but he is sure that there is more to it than that.

"I was a fool to think you'd confess"

“I was enough of a fool to think you’d confess – or show some kind of remorse for what you’ve done.   At least, I can say I’ve seen you rot in here with my own eyes.”

"You're cute when you're angry"

Tom smiles;  “You’re cute when you’re angry,” so she tells him to go to hell;  she should never have come there.   “But I’m glad you did, because, even though you’re angry now, I know you will realise that we should be together.”

"It's never going to happen!"

Ffion can see that he has lost it completely;  “Whatever fantasy you’ve got about us – you can forget about it – it’s never going to happen.   By the time you get out of here, I’ll have forgotten about you – if you do get out.”

"My solicitor is confident I shall get bail"

He smirks, “It’s possible you’ll see me sooner than you think – my solicitor is confident I’ll get bail, very confident, in fact.

Indeg's work is done

At Maes-y-Deri, Dani is very impressed with the result of Indeg’s work,

Anita is gazing into space

while Anita is sitting with a vacant look on her face.   “I’ll need your Insta handle to collab with you – a good reach is so important – this will be a hit on socials!   But, for your information for next time, I graciously accept tips.”

"I want a cup of tea . . ."

Anita has got up from her chair and announces that she wants a cup of tea

". . . I can make my own!"

and protests, “I can make my own!” as she makes her way into the kitchen.

“Where’s this salon you worked at?” enquires Indeg, “Cardiff – or London?”

“High Street, Cwmderi – where the pharmacy is now,” replies Dani.

Anita fills the kettle . . .

Anita fills the kettle, as Indeg describes Dani as the Queen of the blue rinses.   It is pointed out that not everyone in the village is old.

. . . but is unable to switch it on

Anita is finding difficulty turning on the switch for the kettle,

"I've said no, Colin!"

then shouts down the plug hole of this sink, “I’ve said no, Colin!”

"Right, I want to go now"

She decides that she wants to go now and heads towards the door;  Indeg will buy Dani a drink some time;

Indeg wants to hear more local gossip

she says that she is intrigued to hear more about Cwmderi’s gossip.  She maintains that Griffiths will be back in a minute, so Anita can go home, “And you can give me the lowdown about potential fitties here.

. . . but is afraid Anita will do another runner

By this time, Anita is already opening the door, so they hurry out after her, before she does another runner.

Water is dripping on the kettle . . .

Meanwhile, we see that the kettle, although not switched on,

. . . from the shelf above

is immediately under a stream of water coming from the ceiling.

"I'm going to plead not guilty . . ."

Tom continues that he is in court next week for the plea hearing;  “I’m going to plead not guilty,

". . . to prove I've been wronged"

“because I want the chance to prove to you and everyone that I’ve been wronged.”

"I'll see you get what you deserve!"

“And I’ll get the pleasure of seeing you get what you deserve,” Ffion answers, “You won’t get away with it this time.”

"Will you get what you deserve?"

“And what about you?   Will you get what you deserve?   I should have phoned the police after I saw you raise your hand to your own daughter – but I didn’t because I love you.   It would be a pity if anyone found out.”

"You deleted that video"

Ffion was under the impression that he deleted the video,

"Did I?   I can't remember"

but he says that he does not remember if he did.   “It would be great to have your support.”

"I'd not going to work"

She stops him there, informing him, “It’s not to going to work!”   He maintains that he is not doing anything,

"I wouldn't want us both to be in trouble"

“But if this video exists, I would not want us both to be in trouble.”

The bell rings to indicate the end of visiting hours;

"Until next time, Ffion"

“Until next time, Ffion,” he says,

A self-satisfied smirk

looking quite satisfied with his performance today.

"I couldn't stand Iolo shutting me out!"

As they sit on the bench outside the block of flats, Liv explains, “I couldn’t stand Iolo shutting me out.    How can I be Mami Liv to Greta, but I can’t look at Tyler?

"I'm their mother, no matter what he thinks"

“I’m their mother, no matter what Iolo thinks.”

"You asked him it adopt Tyler"

Cai reminds her that she asked him to adopt Tyler;

"I've changed my mind"

“I know that, but I’ve changed my mind – Ty should be with me and no-one else.   I had feelings I didn’t have the chance to feel with Greta.   Giving her away was the best thing for us both – I wasn’t ready to be a parent – and I really appreciate that Iolo is her father.   But with Ty, I’ve got a second chance to prove I can do it – things are different –

"I've been breastfeeding him"

“I’ve been breastfeeding him – he’s been latching on really good.”

"Why didn't you tell Iolo all this?"

Cai asks why she did not tell Iolo all this and she explains that everything happened so fast;  “He wanted me out and I panicked.”   Cai enquires if she has enough money to look after him properly, so she maintains that she will find a job.

"You can't work and look after a baby"

“You can’t work and look after a baby who’s only weeks old,” he insists, but she says that she will find a way, like she always does.   Cai will give her some money – but there is one condition –

"I want to see Tyler before I go"

“I want to see Tyler before I go.”

Ffion comes downstairs

Back home at Deri Fawr, Ffion has just washed her hair, but when she comes downstairs,

Someone has let a picture on the table . . .

there is a paper on the table

. . . the one Tom was talking about . . .

with the CCTV photo of her in the process of hitting Arwen.

. . . and she feels very vulnerable

In a panic, she shuts the back door.

"Uncle Cai wants a cwtch"

Liv has brought the baby down and Cai lifts him from his pram;  he tells her that Uncle Cai wants a cwtch.   Liv is in a hurry to get to the food bank before it closes.

"Tyler is coming home with me"

“I’m sorry, Liv, but Tyler is coming home with me,” Cai informs her, “What kind of life is this for a baby – jumping from house to house, having to depend on food banks?

"Being with Iolo is what's best for him"

I know you’re his mother, but being with Iolo is what’s best for him.”

"When you were in the unit . . ."

She is frantic and reminds him that when he was in the unit, he said that losing his children was the start of his problems,

". . . but you're happy for me to lose Tyler!"

“But you’re happy for me to lose Tyler!   I can’t live without him, Cai!”

"Tom wants me to support him"

Ffion has shown the photograph to Cassie outside the Deri, explaining that Tom wants her to go to the hearing and support him publicly.

"Just what I would expect!"

This is just the sort of behaviour that Cassie would expect from him.

"I'll have to get Arwen out of here!"

“I shall have to get Arwen out of here – take her to North Wales – because if he goes down for what he did, he’ll drag me down with him, Kath, I know he will.   He’s already sent someone round to the house –

"What am I going to do?"

“he won’t stop – what am I going to do?”

"Cut all contact with him . . ."

Cassie advises her not to waste any more tears over him;  “Right, you’ve got to cut all contact with him– bin every letter and ignore every request to see him – and change your phone number, if you have to.

"Is not going to win again!"

“He’s not going to win again – we’ll make sure of that!”

Ffion is not convinced

Ffion does not appear convinced.

"Thinking about Lleucu kept you going . . ."

Liv continues to remind Cai, “Thinking about Lleucu kept you going when you were ill – and Ty’s the only thing keeping me going!   The reason to stay drug free, to make a better life for myself!”

"You can't put so much pressure on a baby"

Cai maintains that she cannot put so much pressure on a baby;  “Just let Iolo look after him until you sort yourself out and get a proper flat.”

"Once he goes, I'll never get him back!"

However, Liv is convinced, “Once he goes, I’ll never get him back – Iolo will make sure of that – he should be with me!”

"You have to got and see Iolo"

Her words seem to be having an effect on Cai, who points out she has to go and see Iolo.   “Tell him everything that you’ve just told me – he deserves that.”

"All right – just give my baby back!"

She agrees to his terms, but just wants her baby back.

He is replaced in his pram

Cai relents and replaces the baby in his pram,

Cai gives her some money

then hands some money to Liv.   “Take that – it will pay for electricity and something hot for you to eat.

"There will be more after you see Iolo"

“You can have more after you’ve been to see Iolo.”

"Thank you – not for the money"

She thanks him, but emphasises that it is not for the money.

Dani finds Maes-y-Deri empty . . .

Dani arrives back at Maes-y-Deri, but neither Mark nor Gwern are there;

 . . . but a scene of devastation greets her . . .

then she makes a horrifying discovery.

. . . with the ceiling bought down

Part of the ceiling has come down and there is water leaking in the kitchen.

"What on earth?"

“What on earth?” she gasps, as she sees the devastation.
