Mark attempts to go incognito

Mark is donning a baseball cap and sunglasses to try and disguise his appearance when there is a knock at the door and he finds that it is Cheryl, 

"Are you dressing up?"

who looks surprised and asks where he is going.   “Are you dressing up?”

"Just checking clothes for Apêl Maenan"

He maintains that he is simply checking some old clothes to make sure that they are OK to go to Apêl Maenan;  she reckons that they are too good to go there.   

"You can wear them to come out with me"

“You can wear them to come out with me, to say sorry for last night,” she proposes, 

"I'm on a course today"

but he makes up the excuse her he is on a course today and has no idea what time it will finish.  

“All by myself today, then,” Cheryl groans, 

"Gaynor doesn't want muggins' company either"

“Gaynor doesn’t want muggins’ company either.”   Mark is sorry that he has to go, 

"Don't let Billy-no-mates stop you"

so she tells him, “All right – don’t let Billy-no-mates stop you!   I’ll see you when I see you.”   Mark is not looking forward to today’s experience.

Eileen's announcement on Facebook

She looks quite satisfied

She appears well pleased with her efforts.

Anita is dealing with her 'Meddal' products

As Anita is dealing with some ‘Meddal’ products at APD, Matthew is speaking on the phone, and she quickly hides the skin care products.

"Anita, I want you to drop everything!"

“Anita!” he calls, “I want you to drop everything you’re doing today and help me sort out this mess.   

"Check these bills against the work schedule . . ."

“Lots of this month’s bills have gone to the wrong people – it’s the computer.   Check these bills against the work schedules.   

". . . or we shall have cash flow problems"

“I want you to do it now, please, or we shall have cash flow problems.”

"I shall be out in the van"

As his phone sounds again, he informs her that he will be out in the van until lunchtime.   

Anita has other priorities

As soon as he is out of sight, she retrieves all the ‘Meddal’ stuff and continues what she was doing, ignoring the ringing telephone.

Mark arrives at the clinic

Gaynor is sitting very self-consciously at the clinic when Mark joins her;  

"Take that hat off!"

“Take that hat off!” she orders.   He wonders what she told Cheryl about where she was going.   

"Shopping"

“Shopping,” Gaynor replies and he says that he is on a course.

"I hate lying to her"

“Do you know what?   I hate lying to her,” he goes on, 

"How do you think I feel, then?"

and is told that neither is it easy for Gaynor.   He wonders if they will take long, and she has no idea.

Kelly studies her phone

Kelly emerges from the deli and is looking at her phone, particularly at what Eileen has posted.   

"Why the long face, Kel?"

Jinx comes along the road and asks, “Why the long face?”

"Have you heard about the Cwmderi hunt?"

“I knew it!   Have you heard about the Cwmderi Hunt?” she exclaims, “But there we are – she’s within her rights, I suppose.”

"To kill innocent creatures?"

“To kill innocent creatures?” Jinx demands, and she points out that it is a drag hunt, 

"It's a friendly sport, isn't it?"

which is a ‘friendly sport’ – hounds chasing a scented rag.

"Yes, the scent of fox urine"

“Yes, the scent of fox urine,” he informs her, just as Ieuan Griffiths is passing with two coffees.

"Discussing Fantastic Mr Fox?"

“Ah, discussing Fantastic Mr Fox?” he enquires and Jinx refers to ‘Boggis, Bunce and Bean’ [apparently the cruel farmers from the film ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’]   

"Eh – what, Jinx?"

When Kelly looks blankly at him, he wonders if Kelly reads at all, and Ieuan replies that some people have lives.

"What's the problem?"

Kelly continues, “If the hounds are just chasing a scent, what’s the problem?”

"Do you think, they stick to the rules?"

“Do you think that they stick to the rules?   They’ll be on her land – there’s no-one to keep an eye on them,” says Jinx.   Kelly is disgusted, 

"There's no end to that woman's cruelty!"

declaring that there is no end to that woman’s cruelty;  

What is going on in Kelly's head?

it appears that she feels a new campaign coming on.

There appears to be no-one at APD

Meanwhile, Ieuan is standing outside the locked door of APD, shouting for Anita that he has some hot coffee for her.   However, there is no response so he walks away.

"The test was pretty straightforward"

Mark returns from his appointment to the waiting room and tells Gaynor that they are going to send him his results;  “The test was pretty straightforward,” 

"I don't want to hear the details"

but she does not want to hear the details.

“They can’t tell the GP without your permission,” he goes on, and she instructs him that he can go now, 

"Mrs Llywelyn"

as her name is called.   “Good luck – and let me know your results,” says Mark.

"Stay away from Cheryl!"

She warns him to stay away from Cheryl until they get the results;

"Wouldn't it be easier to tell her the truth?"

he considers that it would be easier to tell her the truth.   

"Don't you dare!"

“Don’t you dare!” Gaynor snarls, “We’re not going to discuss this mess with anyone, ever – understand?”

We discover why there was no one at APD;  

Diane brings tea for Anita . . .

Anita is at Bryntirion, delivering skincare products for Diane, who has made her a cup of tea.   

. . . who starts her selling procedure

As soon as you start using it you’ll be ready to make your next order!” Anita assures her.

Some 'Beautiss' products

Then she notices some ‘Beautiss’ products on the table 

"That's the stuff Cheryl sells"

and sneers, “That’s the stuff Cheryl sells, isn’t it?   Have you bought more?”   

"It's cheaper than what you sell"

Diane’s reply is that it is cheaper than what Anita sells and it suits her.

“It’s obviously not working!” snaps Anita, 

This gets Diane's back up

which immediately enrages Diane.   

"You're supposed to be a friend!"

“How could you?   You’re supposed to be a friend!” Anita moans.

"Who's letting you have this pampering party?"

“Hang on a minute – remember who’s letting you have a pampering party here tonight!” she is reminded, “I’ve bought snacks and fancy wine from Llanarthur!”   This tends to take the wind from Anita’s sails and she says that she just wants it to be a success.

"Tell everyone to buy 'Meddal' products"

“Promise me one thing, then – you’re going to tell everyone that they’re supposed to buy ‘Meddal’ products from now on, OK?”   

Diane has had enough of this

Diane is becoming rather tired of this.

"People aren't very happy with Eileen's plans"

“People aren’t very happy with Eileen’s plans, are they?” says Mathew, as he looks at his phone in the Deri.   

"It's a stupid idea!"

Jinx describes it as a stupid idea, but Mathew thinks that it might be different to the chicken business.   Jinx is surprised that he is in favour of it.

"I don't want to lose out again"

“That’s not what I’m saying – APD lost a lot of work with that chicken shed and I don’t want to lose out again.”   

"All about money, is it?"

Jinx realises that this is all about money.

"Leather boots up to their bottoms!"

Cassie, behind the bar, remarks, “Grown men in red coats and leather boots up to their bottoms!” a description which Cheryl regards as sexy.

"Closed?"

Mathew’s phone sounds and he finds that someone is complaining about APD being closed;  

"I'm going over there now"

he agrees to go over there now, 

You eat it, Jinx – don't let it go to waste!

leaving his lunch uneaten.

Just in time, Anita is back at APD

At that moment Anita is back in the shop and turns the sign to read ‘OPEN’.   She sees Matthew approaching, so hurries back to the counter.   

"I've just had a complaint"

“I’ve just had a complaint that this place has been closed for a while,” he says 

"I just popped out for a coffee"

and she replies that she popped out for a coffee.   She has not finished dealing with the bills;  

"You haven't even started doing it!"

he finds that she has not even started the job, 

"All right – I'll do it now"

and she agrees to do it now.

Just then Griffiths comes through the door;  

"I drank your coffee, sorry"

“Ah, you’re here now – I drank your coffee, sorry.”   

"Ooh – err!"

Mathew is immediately suspicious, 

"An hour ago there was no-one here"

so Ieuan informs him, “I came over about an hour ago and there was no-one here.”

The 'Meddal' stuff has not been very well hidden

Then Mathew notices what is on the counter – and furthermore, what is underneath;  

"I'm not paying you to deliver shampoos!"

“I’m not paying you to deliver shampoos, all right?”   She pleads that she only went to Bryntirion.

“Not during working hours – you clearly can’t cope!” exclaims Mathew.  

"Don't talk to her like that!"

Ieuan warns him not to talk to Anita like that, but he insists, “I’m trying to run a business,” and is told that he is not making a very good job of it.

Anita is summarily dismissed . . .

“I need staff I can rely on – sorry, Anita, but I have to let you go!”   

. . . and Ieuan is shocked

Anita and Ieuan look at each other.

"She's unbelievable, right?"

Kelly marches into Y Felin, telling Iolo, “She’s unbelievable – right – setting something up that’s inevitably going to end up with foxes – and probably dogs – dying!   

"I just don't understand it!"

“I just don’t understand it – for someone who loves animals, why is she doing it?”

Her words are wasted on Iolo

Iolo appears to be totally uninterested as she goes on, “I need someone like-minded – you – who’s going to help me, because we need to object!   

"Iolo, are you listening?'

“Iolo, are you listening?”

He appears to be in a world of his own

He appears not to be totally ‘with it’, but agrees with what she has said;  “But I just . . .”   She hopes that he will not take this personally 

"You don't look great, Iol"

but declares that he does not look great and enquires if everything is OK.

"Talking to a woman twice your age like that!"

Ieuan is trying to reprimand Mathew;  “You should be ashamed, talking to a woman twice your age like that!”   Anita takes issue with this description, and apologises to Mathew, admitting that she did take advantage.

"The thing is, I panicked"

“The thing is, I panicked because I had promised to deliver to people.   You’re right – I should have stayed here – I’m sorry, Mathew.”

"You have nothing to be sorry for, Anita"

Ieuan does not make matters any better as he insists that Anita has nothing to be sorry for;  “He went out to lunch!”   She tells him to leave it, pointing out that everyone has to eat.

"All right – but no second chances, right?"

Mathew concedes, “I’m willing to forgive you this time – but no second chances, right?   

"As long as those bills are sorted"

“As long as these bills are sorted by tomorrow morning!”   She is very pleased;  Ieuan less so.   

"I'll take you out to dinner to celebrate"

He urges her to get on with the job in hand, then he will take her out for dinner to celebrate.   

"To celebrate I kept my job?"

“To celebrate that I kept my job?” she asks;  he cannot think of a better reason for a slap-up meal.

Eileen is having a cup of tea at the Deri and remarks, “Cassie, I thought you’d enjoy mingling with the ‘snobs’, as you call them.”   

"I'll stick to the common folk"

Cassie replies that she prefers sticking to the common folk.   

"If the village had been more supportive"

“If people in this village had been more supportive of the chicken shed, I wouldn’t have bothered with the hunt,” Eileen grumbles.

"Where will it all start, then?"

Kath asks, “Where will it all start, then?’ and is told that it will be at Penrhewl – 

"Perhaps in the middle of the village"

“or perhaps in the middle of the village.   

"They like a drink before getting started"

“Oh, the Deri would be full – they like a drink before getting started.”   Now Eileen must be getting away and Diane, looking rather flustered, comes to the bar.

"I'm fed up with Anita ordering me about!"

She asks for a gin and tonic and grumbles, “I’m fed up with Anita ordering me round – you do remember that pampering evening tonight, don’t you?”

"I'd rather have a kick in the backside"

Cassie mutters, “I’d rather have a kick in the backside!”   

"I could work tonight"

Cheryl suggests that she could work tonight, so both of them can go to this party.   

"We're up to our armpits in creams!"

Kath moans that they have been to three of them already, and are now up to their armpits in creams.

"After losing Tyler, everything is going to be difficult"

Kelly brings Iolo a glass of water and appreciates, “After losing Tyler, everything is going to be difficult – 

"Concentrate on the things you enjoy . . ."

“but perhaps you should just concentrate on the things you enjoy – the things that make you happy, you know.   

". . . the positives rather than the negatives"

“Concentrate on the positives rather than the negatives – keep your anxiety at bay – stop thinking about it all the time.”

Kelly looks at her phone

Her phone sounds and she looks at it;  

"Is that why you're going to war with Eileen?"

“Is that why you’re going to war with Eileen?” Iolo asks, “Are you trying to keep busy?”   

"I suppose you're right"

Kelly supposes that is right, as it gives her a sense of purpose, and he agrees that he will help her.

"I'd like to help you"

“Well, if you want to start a protest against the hunt, I’d like to join you,” he says.

Yes – fighting spirit – I love it!"

“Yes!” says Kelly, “Fighting spirit – I love it!   But, if we’re going to do this, we need more people to join us – 

"I know just the person!

“and I know just the person.”

There is no sign of Anita

Kath and Cassie have gone to Bryntirion for the pampering evening, but there is no sign of Anita, and she is not answering her phone.   Diane suggests that they can open another bottle of wine, 

"That's exactly what she wants"

but Kath protests, “Not for me – that’s exactly what she wants – to get us drunk so we spend more money.   I know her tricks!”

"I hope she hasn't had an accident"

Diane hopes that she has not had an accident, so she contacts Mathew to ask if Anita is still at APD;  

"Are you sure, Mathew?"

“She was supposed to be at Bryntirion a long time ago.   Are you sure?”

Jinx has brought three pizzas . . .

Jinx arrives at Y Felin with three pizzas;  “Who is the Hawaiian for?” he asks 

. . . and finds that one is for him

and is told that it is for him.   He reminds them that he is working, but they have a question to ask him.   

"We want you to help organise it"

“We’re starting a campaign to stop Eileen’s hunt,” explains Iolo, “And we want you to help organise it.”

"I agree with you, boys, but . . ."

“OK, I agree with you, boys, but . . .” Jinx begins, 

"This is important, Jinx"

and Kelly emphasises that this is important;  they have to organise a protest as soon as possible.   

"Kelly is the best one to organise it"

He maintains that Kelly is the best one to organise it, 

"I'm exhausted after the chicken shed protest"

but she points out, “I’m exhausted after the chicken shed protest.”   Jinx insists that it was a success, like every protest she organises.

"My better half is in the other camp"

“But my better half is in the other camp, OK, because he works for Eileen,” she continues.   Once again Jinx realises that cash is king.   “I have to be diplomatic,” she reminds him and he comments that it compromises her principles, once again insisting that she is the best person for this.

"Rebels!"

“I’ll do whatever I can to help, I promise,” sys Jinx, “Sorry, boys, I have to go – you can have these pizzas for free, OK?   Rebels!”

Iolo's mood has changed

Iolo seems to have found something to get enthusiastic about 

"Fancy organising a protest next week?"

and Kelly proposes, “Do you fancy organising a protest next week, or what?”   

"You're the best person to do this"

However he agrees with Jinx that she is the best person to organise this;  “I’ll be there as your right-hand man,” and she quite likes that idea, actually, and wonders what is to be their first plan of action.   

Iolo seems to have thought of something

After some thought, Iolo announces that he has an idea.

They find Anita in the Deri

When Cassie and Kath return to the Deri, after the abortive pampering party, they discover that Anita is there with Ieuan.   “Everyone deserves a treat now and again,” he is telling Anita, then compliments the ladies on their new menu.   “The fillet steak was perfect.”

Kath asks Anita, “Have you lost it?   The pampering party.”   

"Aargh!   The pampering party!"

Now it suddenly dawns on Anita what she was supposed to be doing and she is aghast.   “You forgot?   You were the one who organised it!” Kath complains.

"How about tomorrow night?"

When Anita offers to reorganise tomorrow night, they say they have wasted one night already;  

"And we have to pay Cheryl"

“And we have to pay Cheryl for being behind the bar.”

Anita has had so much on her mind in the last few days – 

Anita blames Mathew 

and Matthew upset her earlier.   Cassie advises, “If this ‘Meddal’ Business is too much for you, you should stop.”

"I've never missed an appointment!"

Cheryl, who has been listening from behind the bar, points out that she has never missed an appointment, so Kath replies that she can arrange the next one.

"It won't happen again . . ."

Anita assures them that it will not happen again 

". . . Ieuan will buy you all a drink"

and suggests that Ieuan should buy them all drinks.   

Cheryl is told that she can go home, and she asks Mark, who is standing by the bar, if he wants to go somewhere else for a drink.   “How about tomorrow?” Cheryl suggests, as she has a few days off.

Gaynor has just arrived

However, Gaynor is just coming in, 

"I have to be up early in the morning"

so he replies that he has to be up early in the morning, as this mythical course last two days.   

"If you've lost interest, just say"

She considers it rather strange that the course lasts into the evening as well.   “You’re full of excuses tonight – if you’ve lost interest, just say.”

"I'm sorry"

He simply says that he is sorry 

He makes a hasty exit from the Deri . . .

and leaves the Deri, which is a great disappointment to her 

. . . which makes Gaynor feel guilty

and Gaynor looks very guilty.
