"You ought to get some sleep, Dani"

Mark brings Dani a cup of tea and advises her to get some sleep, but she cannot believe that Gwern is still missing;  “I thought he’d be home by now.”   

"We're doing everything we can"

There is a knock at the door as they find that it is DS Fielding, informs them that there was no sign of him, but they are doing everything that they can.

"You're not doing enough!"

Dani is frantic;  “You’re not doing enough – he’s been out all night  anything could have happened to him!”   Mark wonders if they should go out searching again, 

"Contact anyone who might know where he is"

but is told that the best thing they can do is to phone him, text him and contact anyone who could know where he is.

“Have you have any other ideas about where he could be?” the DS asks 

"Garry's jail?"

and the only place Dani can think of is Garry’s jail.   The DS lets them know that Howard has been released;  he was simply helping Arwen.

"Arwen said he was acting oddly"

Fielding says that Arwen was worried about Gwern, saying that he was acting oddly.   

"He's just lost his parents!"

“Odd?   He’s just lost his parents!” snarls Dani;  the DS will let them know if she hears anything.   

Dani returns to her laptop

Dani returns to her laptop.

A disappointing message . . .

At Cysgod y Glyn, Ffion hears a message alert and discovers that Kelly will not be able to play this afternoon, 

. . . Kelly cannot play today

as she has too much to do at work.   

"Have you phoned the police again!"

Arwen comes in and asks if her mother has phoned the police again, as she is concerned about Howard, and insists that he has done nothing.

“Arwen, please try to understand – the police have to make sure that he’s a good man,” says Ffion, but Arwen simply argues that all that is important is finding Gwern.   

Ffion does not look herself

Ffion is showing some signs of disorientation, 

"I haven't eaten breakfast yet"

but gives the excuse that she has not eaten breakfast yet.

"Howard's been allowed to go home"

Then there is a message from Dani;  “No news about Gwern, but Howard’s been allowed to go home.   

"I want you pitch-side, taking photos"

Right, rugby – remember I want you pitch-side, taking photos.”   

"The game should be cancelled"

Arwen insists that the game should be cancelled, so that they can look for Gwern.   “The police said there is nothing more we can do – we’d better go.”

Arwen is anxious that her mother is not well enough to go, 

"I'm fine, Arwen"

but she insists that she is.

"Up a bit!"

Sioned is supervising DJ as he puts up the press cutting in the window of the deli;  “We need more BluTac.”   

"The perfect couple"

He comes out and describes them as the perfect couple;  they will be putting it up on Facebook next.

"I can't play today"

Ffion approaches but Sioned says that she will not be able to play today has she has too much paperwork to deal with;  “I’m surprised that the game is still on, with Gwern missing.”   

Ffion stresses that the club has shared the police message and she will be making a statement about it.

"Can't DJ do the paperwork?"

She begs DJ to do the paperwork, so that Sioned can play, but he replies that he has a lot of commitments.   As Ffion complains, “What a shambles!” Cai comes up on the scene, 

"Do your promo work by the pitch"

and advises DJ to do his promo work by the pitch, as there will be a lot of people from Llanarthur there.

“You could give them a few tasters,” he suggests, 

"That's an idea, DJ"

which Sioned regards as a good idea.   

"Sioned is needed on the pitch"

He boasts that he is full of good ideas, but she is needed on the pitch.

"I don't have enough time to make food"

DJ protests that he does not have enough time to make food;  “It takes time to make high quality food like that.   

Sioned drives a hard bargain . . .

Sioned can see a business opportunity here and agrees to play if they will put TAMED’s advert on the club’s Instagram and Facebook.   Ffion readily agrees to this, so Sioned goes to get ready, 

"I said you needed more BluTac"

pointing out to DJ that she said that they needed more BluTac, since the newspaper cutting has already fallen down.

Cai remarks that Ffion looks as white as a sheet, 

"Since when have you been concerned about the women's team?"

and she wonders since when has he been concerned about the women’s team.   

"Not much prospect of having a men's team"

He cannot see much prospect of having a men’s team, so might as well help the women.

"All right for the game?"

Ffion calls across to Maya, “All right for the game?”   

"Hope we won't need this"

Maya hopes that they will not need the first aid kit, and Ffion concludes, “At least we’ve got two players!”

“You crack me up when you speak English,” Cai remarks, so she tells him to shut up, 

"Would you like coffee, darling?"

but he continues, in English, “Would you like coffee, darling, so that we can talk tictacs?”

"I know I'm not a DI"

DS Fielding is on the phone in the Deri and is becoming rather heated;  “The boy’s been missing for over 12 hours – of course I know I’m not a DI, but more needs to be done.”

"Any news about Gwern?"

Ffion comes in and asks if there is any news about Gwern, but there is none;  “Arwen’s worried sick about him,” she says, 

"He's been through so much"

and the DS remarks that he has been through so much.

Ffion just hopes that he is safe and asks if there is anything else she can do, 

"The more people that know about it . . ."

but is told that the more people know about it, the more chance someone will recognise him.

"She looks tired"

Ffion remarks that the DS looks tired;  

"So what's your excuse?"

“And what’s your excuse?” Cai asks her, “How are your sugar levels?   Have you been careful?”

She informs him that she has been to see her GP;  

"I've been referred to a specialist"

“I’ve been referred to a specialist, just in case – he doesn’t think it’s serious.”   They order coffees from the new barman, and Ffion explains that she has not slept because of Gwern and the forthcoming game.

“If you’ve come here to keep an eye on me, you can go home!” she instructs him, 

"The world doesn't revolve around you, Ffion"

and he reminds her that the world does not revolve around her.   He simply misses the game and wants to keep busy, as he has a lot on his mind.

"You could act as our coach today"

She replies that Anita is not available today, so he could act as their coach, in order for her to play;  “Otherwise we won’t have a team.”

"You need something filling before the game"

Maya comes into the Deli and enquires whether DJ has had a busy morning;  “Not too bad,” he replies, and she is once again starving.   He says that she needs something filling before the game.

"I'll have a chicken barm . . ."

“I’ll have a chicken barm,” she tells him, but he has never heard of that;  

". . . or do you call them baps?"

“What do you call them down here – baps?” she continues, and he realises that she means rolls.   She will remember that for the next time, 

"A cyw iar roll"

and he will prepare a ‘cyw iar’ roll.

"Are you looking forward to the game?"

“Are you looking forward to the game?” he asks and she is just grateful to be included;  

"I've been feeling like a bit of an outsider"

she has been feeling like a bit of an outsider, so is excited to be on the team.   

"Cwmderi can take some getting used to"

He acknowledges that Cwmderi can take some getting used to.   Incidentally, it appears that Eileen’s ‘Cae Glas’ card has been removed from the till.

"I feel like I could settle here"

“I really feel like I could settle here – that I could belong,” she says, and he answers from personal experience that Cwmderi has its own way of keeping hold of someone, whether they like it or not.   He hands over her ‘chicken barm’ and charges her £3.50.

"Dis you tell the police that Gwern had a gun?"

Arwen is once again at Deri Fawr, where she asks Howard, “Did you tell the police that Gwern has a gun?”   

"Go home and leave me alone"

He is still insisting that the boy does not have a gun and wants her to go home and leave him alone;  she has got him into enough trouble already.

"Can you help me find him?"

“Can you help me find him?   Mam isn’t interested,” she goes on;  he urges her to leave it to the ‘pigs’, so she decides, “Fine, I’ll do it on my own.”

He maintains that she has been watching too many films, and now should go home and watch another one.   “It isn’t your place to go looking, especially without your mother.”   

"You are Gwern's friend"

She will not give up and points out that he is Gwern’s friend.

"No – you listen to me!"

“No – you listen to me for a change!” he growls, “I’ve been in a cell all night because of you, for the second time this year!   Now go home to your mother and leave me alone – 

"I'm not a friend to you or Gwern"

“and just so you know, I’m not a friend to you or Gwern!   I don’t care what happens to him – not at all!”

"Have you gone to Parma for my ham?"

Cai is waiting impatiently at the counter of the Deli;  “Have you gone to Parma for my ham, or what?” he shouts, “Ffion wants me on the pitch in 15 minutes.”   

DJ comes dashing out

DJ rushes out with his order, 

"You're our coach?"

and Sioned discovers that Cai is their rugby coach this afternoon.

“I want to see you performing on that pitch,” he tells her as he leaves.   

"He was flirting with you!"

DJ is annoyed that he was flirting with her, but she comments that he flirts with everyone, and that she does not notice any more.

Dani is looking at a photo, which includes Garry, on her phone;  

"There has been a sighting of Gwern in Llanelli"

Mark hears that there has been a sighting of Gwern in Llanelli on some shop’s CCTV.

She is very anxious that nothing has happened to him;  

"I'd never forgive myself if something happens to him!"

“I’d never forgive myself if something had!” but Mark regards it as positive news.   

"It won't be positive until he comes home"

“It won’t be positive until he comes home,” she sobs.

Mark tries to convince her that he is safe somewhere; 

"He came back safely from Newcastle"

“When he ran away to Newcastle, he came home safely,” and she agrees that he is right.   

"I'm going to check on the kids"

Mark will go over to Jinx’s and check on the kids;  “When I went over there earlier, Seren had tipped a bag of flour on the floor.   Are you going to be all right on your own?   They’ve spotted him, Dani – that’s brilliant!”

The team are warming up . . . 

Cai is putting the women’s rugby team through their paces;  

. . . with Cai in charge

“Come on, put your backs into it!”   

"Standing there like a lump!"

Maya wonders if this bloke is for real, describing him as ‘standing there like a lump’.   

"In Welsh we call it 'Pwdryn'!"

Sioned tells her that in Welsh they call it ‘pwdryn’ which means ‘lazybones’.

"You said you wouldn't be playing"

Arwen complains to her mother that she said she would not be playing;  

"Stop worrying and remember to take photos"

“Stop worrying and remember to take photos,” Ffion tells her.   

Arwen catches sight of someone

Arwen turns round and believes that she sees a familiar figure going into the clubhouse.   

"I think just saw Gwern"

She tells her mother, “I think I just saw Gwern,” but is informed that there has been a sighting of him in Llanelli.

She cells for Howard's support

Arwen’s response is to get her telephone and leave a message for Howard, “Call me back, please!   I’m sure I’ve seen Gwern going into the rugby club.”

The training continues

The rugby team is practising tackling, 

. . . with Cai putting them through their paces

under the instruction of Cai;  

"You need to work on your fitness"

he tells Sioned that she needs to work on her fitness, as she is supposed to be one of the best they have.   

"It's all right for you, lecturing us"

“It’s all right for you, lecturing us from the pitch side,” she moans, but he instructs her that he wants less complaining and more work.

She is suddenly motionless on the ground

As she runs, she suddenly trips and falls down to the ground, lying motionless with DJ rushing to her, 

"Call for an ambulance!"

as does Maya, who of course has had medical training.   They call for an ambulance, as Maya reports, “Patient not responding, and I’m going to do CPR.”   

"Go and get it, then"

When told that there is a ‘defib’ in the village she instructs them to go and fetch it.

They look on, helplessly

DJ blames Cai for this, maintaining that he was pushing her too hard.   Ffion is on the phone to the ambulance controller and advises that there is an ambulance on the way.   

Thee is no response from Sioned

Maya continues working on Sioned and DJ is extremely concerned.

Howard has responded to the call

Arwen goes into the clubhouse and nervously looks around;  she is soon joined by Howard and they hear a noise, 

They investigate a noise

so go to investigate.   Beyond the closed door they discover something.

"It wasn't Gwern!"

Dani is still increasingly anxious when Mark comes back and she tells him that the sighting in Llanelli was not Gwern.   

"Where is he, Mark?   I can't lose him!"

“Where is he, Mark?   I can’t lose him!”   Mark assures her that he will come home, 

"How do you know that?"

but she demands, “How do you know that?   Don’t say things you don’t know.”

He was just saying what he thought should be said in these situations, 

"It's not helping"

and she points out that it is not helping.   

A phone is ringing

As she gets a glass of water, a phone can be heard, and she discovers that it is a call from Fielding.   

"OK, I'm coming!"

“Have you found him?   OK, I’m coming!” she gasps, and with that she rushes out of the house, with Mark in pursuit.

The defibrillator has arrived . . .

Maya is continuing the CPR and the ‘defib’ has been brought, so she sets it up, while DJ continues the CPR, to try and save Sioned’s life.

. . . and is deployed by Maya

“I’m going to need you to step back now,” Maya tells him, and she presses the button to deliver a shock.

"You're not in any trouble"

In the clubhouse, Howard assures Gwern that he is not in any trouble.   

"You grassed me up to the cops!"

“You grassed me up to the cops!” Gwern shouts, but Arwen denies that, 

"No-one else knows about the gun"

stressing that no-one else knows about the gun, only that he is missing.

“I promise, on Mam’s life!” she adds, 

"The 'pigs' know nothing"

and Howard confirms that the ‘pigs’ know nothing;  emphasising that they are on his side.

"No-one's on my side"

Gwern maintains that no-one is on his side, and Howard offers to get rid of the gun, so he can come home.   

"Cwmderi's boring without you"

“Cwmderi’s boring without you,” says Arwen.

“The important thing is to get you out of here before the police turn up – I’ll go and check the doors, 

"Be ready to move when I say so"

“but be ready to move when I say so, OK?” Howard tells him.

Dani is distraught . . .

Dani comes running, 

. . . but finds that it is Sioned 

but is told that it is Sioned who is being taken to the ambulance.   

"Are you sure he was going into the clubhouse?"

The DS asks Ffion if she is sure that Gwern was seen going into the clubhouse.   

"That's what Arwen said"

“That’s what Arwen said – and now Howard is here,” she replies, “But there is no way in – all the doors are locked.”

“The police are on the way and I’ll explain everything you said,” Fielding tells her.

"Delyth?" — she was Sophie Fielding back in 2014

Then Maya approaches and exclaims, “Delyth, it’s so good to see you!”   The DS cannot talk just now, but they will speak later, 

Maya is left alone again

and Maya is left distraught.

"You lied – the cops are here!"

Howard goes back into the clubhouse as sirens can be heard;  “You lied – the cops here!” shouts Gwern, 

"It's an ambulance"

but it is explained that it is an ambulance and Fielding is there.

“Come on, you have to trust me – they’ll be all over the place in a minute,” Howard tells him, but Gwern insists that he is not going home, instead wanting to be taken to the bus station.

"Your family is worried about you"

When he is told that his family is worried about him, 

"Dad's in jail and Mam's dead!"

he answers, “I don’t have a family – Dad’s in jail and Mam’s dead!”  

On their way to the exit . . .

They head for the exit, 

. . . their path is blocked by DS Fielding

but then come face to face with DS Fielding, whereupon Gwern points the gun at her.   

"You two – get out"

She instructs the others to get out, despite the fact that Howard tells her that the boy will not hurt anyone.

"Don't come any closer"

Gwern and the DS are left facing each other and he warns her not to come any closer.
