Mark appears to be rather under the weather |
At Maes-y-Deri, Mark is lounging on the sofa and looking rather unwell; Tyler asks him, “What was that horrible green stuff you had before going to bed?” Mark explains that it was Crème de Menthe, which his mother said is good for the stomach.

From the kitchen Kath pipes up, “Mint is good for the stomach!”

"Not if it's in booze, Kath" |
but Tyler points out not if it is in booze. Mark is glad to see that there is none of it left, and Kath discovers that there is no lager in the fridge either.

"It'll do you good not to drink for a while, Mam" |
“Good, it’ll do you good not to drink for a while,” Mark comments, “How can you think about alcohol now?” but she is simply thinking about supplies,

She wants to stock up with all kinds of alcohol |
and instructs Tyler to go to the shop and buy a couple of cans, a bottle of vodka, some gin and perhaps a bottle of red wine. “Mam, we can’t afford it – you and Tyler aren’t bringing any money in – and there is no knowing how long they’ll pay me while I’m shielding.” He tells Tyler, “Forget the wine, the gin and the vodka.” Kath says she will sort it out, and Tyler leaves the house.

Mark warns his mother, “No more spending on alcohol, OK?”

and she suddenly has a brainwave, which she maintains will avoid having to pay for any alcohol again.

Iolo, complete with his facemask, meets Gaynor, who is running down the street,

and cautions her to keep two metres away.

Then she meets Cassie and says she is doing some training; “I try to do something every day between all the Zoom meetings.”

Hywel emerges from the alley, and Cassie complains, “Every day is like groundhog day.”

"I get to see more of Gaynor – and Esther, of course" |
On the contrary, Hywel says he has quite enjoyed lockdown, as he gets to see Gaynor more often, and Esther, of course. Also the weather has been good. Gaynor adds that he wants a barbecue every time the sun comes out, then departs to continue her run.

“You’ll have to come over for a barbecue, when this is all over,” invites Hywel,

but Cassie seems far from enthusiastic at the prospect.

Then as she walks along the street, she notices someone getting out of a rather large car by Bethania, whom she recognises as Lisa.

and seeing a pillow inside the car, Cassie realises that she has been sleeping there.

She is immediately invited to stay at number 9, but Lisa replies that she will sort something out; after enquiring whether Lisa has a temperature or a cough, and receiving the reply that she is perfectly healthy,

Cassie instructs her to park the car outside number 9, and she can move in now. This is presumably exactly what Lisa planned.

Kath has been rummaging in the shed |
When she comes back into the house, Kath tells Mark, “Do you remember telling me that Dol was going to make her own beer? The kit was still in the shed.”

Mark replies that the grain will have gone off, and all the stuff is dirty; she informs him that the first thing they will do is to wash it, and he points out that they will need some yeast.

"Anita said she was going to make her own bread" |
“I’ve thought of that as well, good boy,” she goes on, “Do you remember Anita saying that she was going to make her own bread?

"The yeast will be on the shelf, gathering dust" |
“She will have tried that once, seen it’s a hassle and the yeast will be on the shelf gathering dust.”
She phones Anita, and is told they have plenty of yeast, as it is easier to buy bread in the shop.

“Send Tyler over to get some,” she tells Kath. Then Siôn comes into the room at Y Felin and announces that Ffion is coming to stay with them.

Anita looks offended when Ffion walks in and says, “The rehab centre had to close, and they encourage us not to be on our own.”

"Iolo and Greta are staying with us" |
Anita reminds her that Iolo and Greta are staying with them, but Ffion is quite willing to share a room with Arwen, who is at present playing upstairs.

Ffion is concerned that this will cause a problem, but Siôn assures her that it is fine, and he will make a cup of tea. As soon as she has gone upstairs,

Anita complains bitterly, “You could have discussed this with me first!” and he explains that he was delivering food when Ffion just phoned to say that she had to leave today and did not want to be on her own.

and Siôn had hoped that she would be a little more sympathetic.

“Losing Mam was a big blow,” says Lisa, “And on top of that there were so many bills and things to sort out.”

Cassie appreciates that she has been through the mill, then a message arrives on Lisa’s phone, which she explains is from a friend.
As she looks at her phone and smiles,

Cassie announces that she is going to Asda, but Lisa says she would rather have a shower and unpack, then they will discuss the rent when she gets back. Cassie however will not hear of accepting any money.

Checking to make sure that Cassie has gone, Lisa dials a number and begins, in English, “Hey, handsome, it’s Melissa – guess what I’m wearing – well, actually, not wearing.”

Iolo, with his mask and gloves, tells Anita that he is going out for another walk,

and she moans at Siôn, “You’ve upset him by allowing Ffion to stay here –you know how difficult things are for him!”

He agrees to ask her to self-isolate in her room for a week, but Anita considers it is a bit late for that now; “And there is no way of keeping Arwen away from her.”

Anita is making a point of drinking wine, which Siôn points out is a problem; “I’m not going to stop drinking – it’s hard enough as it is!” she shouts,

Tyler comes out of the shop and notices Iolo on the other side of the road; “I’m thinking of moving home – I’ve come to check the place,” Iolo tells him,

“I was happy there until Dad invited Ffion to live with us. Look, I understand things are difficult for her, but I don’t think I can handle it – and now there are more people in the house . . .”

Tyler urges him to try and put things into perspective; “You’re young, you’re fit, you haven’t got any medical problems.”

Iolo acknowledges that he is right, and Tyler continues that he is more concerned about his mental state, than his catching the virus.
He asks whether Iolo has been doing the mindfulness exercises, which actually have been rather neglected recently. “I don’t have much time with all the disinfecting and hand washing I’m doing.” Tyler advises him it is not a good idea to be on his own, and wants him to promised to stay where he is.
“I have to be going – if you want to have a FaceTime chat or anything . . .” says Tyler;

Ffion tells Siôn, “I loved the way they worked their way into the family without them noticing,” at which point Anita comes into the room and wonders what they are talking about.

and she remembers reading about a woman who had a tapeworm growing inside her.

This causes some amusement, and he explains they were talking about a film, an Oscar-winning South Korean one, adding that Anita does not like films with subtitles.

then theatrically picks up a bottle and glass, demanding, “Listen, Ffion, you don’t mind, do you?”

Ffion is quite happy for her to carry on.
“Right, I’ll go and to drink this in the garden – you can carry on with your conversation then.” Siôn explains that he asked Anita not to drink in front of Ffion, but she says that she understands.

At number 9, Lisa, dressed rather scantily, is speaking to the laptop; “That’s a very naughty idea,” she says, but is suddenly interrupted by the front door opening. She quickly closes the laptop and tells Cassie that she was not expected back so soon.

“Obviously – are you going to put something on?” is Cassie’s response, then it occurs to her what is going on.

Kath enquires, “Have you set things up with Hywel, then?” and when Mark replies he has not done it yet, she demands, “Who were you talking to, then?

“I heard you talking from upstairs.” He manufactures an excuse that he was watching a clip from a film, and was just about to boil some water.

Lisa explains, “I’d just got a job as the deputy manager of a hotel, but once the lockdown started, I hadn’t been there long enough for them to put me on furlough, so . . .

Cassie wants to know if she meets these clients, but is relieved to hear that everything is over the Internet; “The Wi-Fi kept crashing upstairs – that’s why I came down here.” As Cassie continues to look disapproving,

Lisa continues, “I do chat lines, texting – or sexting.”

Hywel stresses that it is important to clean everything first,

but Mark is engrossed in his phone. “Why are you always on that phone?” Kath demands,

Hywel asks for confirmation that they have sterilised everything, and Kath says she has washed it all. Then she presents Mark with the laptop;

“You sort it out, will you? Hywel’s bound to listen to you.” Hywel is becoming exasperated, as Mark explains that his mother has used some hand sanitiser on the equipment, but is warned that they will not be able to drink it if they do not do it right.

Meanwhile Kath is investigating Mark’s phone, and suddenly exclaims, “Debbie! You’ve been talking to Debbie!”

Anita is still drinking wine, and Siôn tries to calm things; “Look, I’m sorry I didn’t ask you about Ffion, but as she’s here now, do you think you could accept it?”

“I don’t know why you’re being so unreasonable,” he goes on, and she accuses him of not realising when he goes out of his way to help all these pretty young women.

“And then you ask me to change the way I live in my own home,” she moans, “Sheryl for one – you worshipped her,” but he replies that she is talking nonsense, which does not go down well.
“Of course I am, because I’m stupid, aren’t I, Siôn? I can’t have highbrow conversations about films from Kazakhstan – fancy making fun of me like that!”

“She’s still in Spain – she messaged to ask how Ricky is and put £500 in my account. Perhaps she thinks that things are tight and she wants to help.

Tyler suspects that it might be guilt,

and Kath orders Mark not to use the money; he enlightens her, “We’re already using it – that’s what I’ve been trying to tell you. Money is tight, OK? We can’t spend every penny on lager.”
Tyler is interesting in how the brewing process is going, and as he investigates, Kath demands where Debbie got the money. “Please don’t tell me you want to see her again!” Kath rages,

Tyler has bad news, the beer does not smell right; Kath insists that it will be fine in a few days; “We can put some lemonade in it or something.

He assures her that she will not have to; “You can stay with us for as long as you want.” She reminds him of that Anita hates having her here, which he denies, but Ffion has heard them arguing.

“I don’t want to come between you,” she groans, but Siôn is confident that Anita will come round; “And I don’t want to let Arwen down again,” she adds.
Siôn makes it clear that he will do everything he can to help her;

Then the front door opens and Cassie returns home; she sees the laptop open on the table and investigates further;
she sees the client, none other than Hywel ‘Casanova’ Llywelyn, . . . discovering none other than 'Casanova' Llywelyn . . .
and he sees her. . . . who realises his secret is out
Simultaneously, they both abruptly close the laptops,
and Cassie whispers, Wow!” An explosive revelation for Cassie
