Rhys comes out of the shop flat . . .
Rhys leaves the shop flat after visiting Mathew,
. . . just as Garry leaves the shop
and Garry is coming out of the shop with some milk and a paper.
"Drop me a text  if you need any help, Math"
As Rhys assures Mathew that if he needs any help, he should just text,
Mathew makes a hasty retreat
Mathew notices Garry watching, and quickly retreats inside.
Dani is trying to make up her mind . . .
At the bottom of the stairs in the Deri,
. . . whether or not to ring Mathew
Dani is deliberating whether to ring Mathew.
"You took your time, Siôn"
Siôn returns to Y Felin, and Anita moans at him, “You took your time – I want to take this casserole over to Iolo.”   Siôn is sure that he will appreciate the company if she stays to have a cup of tea with him,
Arwen is intently studying her iPad
but she points out that she cannot be very long, as she has to do some more of her community work.
“That will be over soon enough,” he comments, and we see that Arwen is engrossed in her iPad on the sofa.
"I had to go over to pay some money into Iolo's account"
Anita wonders what Siôn has been doing at the bank, and he replies that the app was not working;  “I had to go over to pay some money into Iolo’s account – you don’t get sick pay if you’re freelance.”
"Rhys should pay – it happened in his gym"
When Anita hears that he has paid £500 into Iolo’s account, she warns, “You won’t be able to continue supporting him like that!   Rhys should pay – it happened in his gym.”
"It was an accident, Anita"
Siôn insists that it was an accident, but she goes on, “How do you know?
"Rhys' head is all over the place because of Ffion"
“Rhys’ head is all over the place because of Ffion – Iolo shouldn’t have to pay.”
"I'll see you later, Arwen"
Anita says goodbye to Arwen and leaves for some more Community Service.
Iolo looks at a report of the attack in 2016
At number 7, Iolo is looking at an online report of the attack on him in Swansea back in 2016;
"I think there was something wrong with the equipment"
Rhys comes to see how he is, and admits, “I’ve looked at that equipment, and I think there was something wrong with it.”
"No, it was me –I wasn't concentrating"
Iolo will not hear of this, quite adamant that it was his fault because he was not concentrating.   He says he is still getting used to his incapacity, asks how Mathew is, and whether they have caught the person responsible.
"An attack like that is disgusting!"
“An attack like that is disgusting!” Iolo stresses, and Rhys says that Mathew does not fully understand what has happened to him.   Iolo thinks that he should go and see Mathew,
"I wouldn't if I were you, mate"
but Rhys advises against it, as he does not want to see many people because of the injuries.
Anita arrives via the back door
He returns to the gym, and at that moment Anita comes in through the back door;
"I've brought you a casserole"
“I’ve brought you a casserole,” she says, and Iolo confesses that it can be a struggle to cook while in his condition.  “Your father went to the bank this morning and he has put £500 in your account, just to help you out.”
"He didn't have to do that"
Iolo protests that he did not have to do that,
"He won't be able to keep forking out like that!"
and she goes on, “There’s no telling how long you will be off work – he won’t be able to carry on forking out like that!
"Have you had a word with Rhys about the equipment?"
“Have you had a word with Rhys about the equipment?   Because if there was something wrong with it, I think you can ask for compensation.”
"I can't do that – Rhys is a friend"
Iolo is reluctant to do that as Rhys is a friend, but she points out, “If the equipment was faulty, it was his fault, friend or not.”   This makes Iolo think.
Gaynor particularly asked the agency for Llio
In the Deri, Gaynor and Hywel are just leaving after having a cup of coffee, when a stranger walks in;  she is a supply teacher, from an agency, by the name of Llio, who Gaynor has arranged to cover for Ffion’s absence.
She needs some local accommodation
She is looking forward to working in the school again, but is looking for somewhere to stay during her time there.
"Do you know of anyone with a room to rent, Dani?"
Dani does not know of anyone with a room to rent,
"Iolo has a spare room"
but Siôn, who has just come in, volunteers that Iolo has a spare room, and the offer is welcomed.
"Are you making one for me, too?"
Tesni returns to the shop flat as Mathew is making a cup of tea;  “Are you making one for me, too?” she asks, and is adamant she should do it for him, but he refuses her help.
"You should get used to me doing things for you"
“You should get used to me doing things for you,” she goes on, “I’m going to stay with you for a while.”
Mathew does not look exactly enthralled
He does not appear too enamoured by this prospect.
She suggests asking for info on Facebook
“I’m going to look after you – have you thought any more about who did it?” Tesni continues, “The police are useless, aren’t they?   I can’t believe no-one saw him – we could ask on Facebook.”
"No, leave it, Tesni"
Rather exasperated, Mathew tells her to leave it;
Rhys produces a somewhat insubstantial bacon butty
Rhys comes in, bringing Mathew a bacon butty, but is rather abruptly informed by Tesni that she is making toast.
"I'm staying here now, so you won't need a rota"
Rhys will put the butty into the fridge for tomorrow, and Tesni announces that she is staying in the flat now, so they will not need a rota.
Rhys escapes the rather fraught atmosphere
Rhys senses that this is a rather awkward situation, so quickly leaves;
Tesni is going to settle back in
Tesni goes to take her belongings to her room, and Mathew looks very  unhappy with this arrangement.
Anita continues her litter-picking
Anita is litter-picking outside the Apêl Maenan shop,
"You can do your community service in my shop"
when Megan comes out to advise, “I’ve got some good news for you – my contacts in court say you can do in your community service at the Maenan Appeal, if it suits you.”   This is welcomed by Anita, and she is told that she might as well start now, but will have to keep wearing her hi-vis jacket.
Ieuan Griffiths appears, and is rather scathing
Just then Councillor Ieuan Griffiths comes on the scene, and sarcastically pretends to sympathise with Anita;  “It must be difficult, everyone looking down their noses at you.”
"Excuse me, I have to go and work in the shop"
Anita is quick to head into Megan’s shop, and he remarks, “Been moved, have you?
"We have to be fair, even to the offenders among us!"
“Well, I suppose we have to be fair, even to the offenders among us!”
Hywel and Gaynor are chatting to Llinos
Then Griffiths notices Hywel and Gaynor outside the Deri, talking to Llinos, and hurries across;
"Dafydd Tomos is retiring from the independent group"
“I’m sure you’ve heard that Dafydd Tomos is retiring as a leader of the council’s independent group,” he says, but Hywel was not aware of that.
“Well, I always have my finger on the pulse,” Griffiths boasts,
"I have the experience, the ability, the skill"
“The point is, I’m going to stand – I have the experience, the ability, the skill – can I count on your support?”
"Yes, why not?"
He is pleased when Hywel indicates agreement to this, and calls him a true friend,
"But keep the matter quiet until the election"
but wants the matter kept quiet until the election.
"I think you should go for the job"
When he leaves them, Gaynor cannot believe that Hywel intends to support him;  “I think you should go for the job,” she suggests,
Hywel seems to like that idea
and it seems that Hywel is seriously considering the possibility.
"Tesni, ring me back, please"
Jaclyn leaves a message for Tesni,
"She's back staying with Mathew"
then tells Dani, “She’s back staying with Mathew, and she won’t talk to me – I’m just worried it will be too much for her – and Guto is still in pieces.”
Dani agrees that what happened to Mathew has affected a lot of people;
"Did he say anything to you about who it might be?"
“Did he say something to you about who it could be?” enquires Jaclyn, “I heard that you two were close at one point.”   Dani wants to know what she means by ‘close’, and is told, “I know you had a fling.”
"Where have you been, Garry?"
Dani goes across to Garry, by the bar, and informs him that the brewery phoned, and would like to talk to him;  “Where have you been?” she asks.
He simply replies, “Out.”
Jaclyn remarks to him that Guto is still not himself;  “Thank goodness you arrived when you did.”
"He must have upset someone"
Garry has no idea who carried out the attack, but assumes that Mathew must have upset someone.
Dani is getting tired of this inquisition
Jaclyn will not let the matter drop, but continues to ask Dani questions, in answer to which she snarls, “There was no me and Mathew – it was one night, a mistake,
"Tell whoever is spreading gossip to stop!"
“so please tell whoever is spreading gossip to stop!”
"I thought you were only supposed to do that three times a day"
In the shop flat, Mathew is applying ointment to his neck, but is told, “I thought you were only supposed to do that three times a day.”
"It helps, OK?"
Irritated, his answer is that it helps him, and it is sometimes painful, but the tablets help.
"Stop looking at me like that!"
“Stop looking at me like that!” he growls, “You’re staring!   Look, I know you want to be here, and you want to try and help,
"I think you should go – I want to be on my own"
“but I think you should go – I want to be on my own.”
"You didn't say that to your friends on the rota"
“You didn’t say that to your friends on the rota,” she complains, “I want to look after you, Math – I want to help.”
“Well, I don’t want you here!” he exclaims,
"You're fussing and constantly asking questions!"
“You’re fussing and constantly asking questions – I don’t need help, so just go!”
"But I don't want to go, Math"
She protests that she does not want to go, but he makes it abundantly clear that he does.
"If you had answered your phone last week . . ."
“If you’d answered the phone last week, this wouldn’t have happened!” he rages, “If I had got hold of you, I wouldn’t have gone out and got drunk, Guto wouldn’t have thrown me out of Tapas –
". . . I wouldn't have had acid thrown on me!"
“and someone wouldn’t have thrown acid on me – so just leave me alone!”
Tesni thinks she had better go
In the face of this outburst, Tesni runs from the flat in tears,
The mirror has been hurled across the room
Mathew picks up the mirror from the table and throws it across the room.
Siôn is busy, organising Iolo's life for him
Siôn is at number 7, explaining to Iolo, “I thought Llio could stay with you,” inviting her to go and have a look at her room.
"The bedroom at the back, probably"
“The one at the back, probably.”   She obediently goes upstairs.
"What do you think you're doing, Dad?"
Iolo, who is not at all happy about this, challenges his father, “What do you think you’re doing?   Bringing someone here and insisting they stay?”   Siôn maintains that he has not insisted,
"You'll need the money now you can't work"
and reminds Iolo that he will need the money now that he cannot work.   “That’s my business!” Iolo snarls, “And I’m going to ask Rhys for compensation anyway.”
"Anita planted that idea in your head, didn't she?"
“Oh – Anita planted that idea in your head, didn’t she?” says Siôn, and Iolo replies that perhaps the gym equipment was to blame.   He is doing the right thing, but his father would rather give him the money than see him doing something underhand.
"It's perfect!"
Llio returns downstairs confirming that the accommodation is just what she was looking for;  Siôn departs, saying, “I’ll leave you two to discuss terms.”
There is an awkward silence
As they look awkwardly at each other,
"The last thing you want is someone like me turning up"
Llio tells Iolo, “Sorry – I’m sure the last thing you want is someone like me turning up on your doorstep.”   He acknowledges that it was unexpected, and she continues, “It would be great if I could stay – but I understand if you don’t want to.”
"You have to know I have a little girl, Greta, 2 years old"
Iolo replies that they will give it a try, and see how things go;  “But you have to know, I have a little girl, Greta – she’s 2 years old.”   Llio seems to be excited about this, and offers to babysit in the evenings if he would like her to, but he comments that he does not go out clubbing much with his foot as it is.
"I'm more of a jigsaws type of guy"
“I’m more of a jigsaws type of guy,” he admits, and will make them a cup of tea.
"Mathew threw me out!"
Tesni is in quite a state when she finds her mother in the Deri;  “Mathew shouted at me and said it was my fault he got burned!” she wails, “Then he threw me out!”
Garry is listening in to the conversation
In the background we can see that Garry is taking notice of this, as Tesni goes on, “I just want to look after him, Mam – he lets everyone else do it, but he doesn’t want me there – he hates me!
"You need to give him time, Tes"
Jaclyn gets her to sit down, and advises that it might be a idea to give him time;  “It’s the doctors’ help he needs now.”   She will go and make Tesni a coffee.
"It's not fair he's taking it out on Tesni"
She confides to Garry, “I know what happened to Mathew is terrible, but it’s not fair that he’s taking it out on Tes!   I think he’s finished with her.”   Garry is once more jumping to conclusions
Dani wonders where he is going in such a hurry
and hurries out of the Deri, with Dani wondering where he has gone;  she is about to follow him,
"It looks like Tesni and Mathew have finished"
as Jaclyn says that it appears Tesni and Mathew have finished.
"Do you still love Dani?"
Mathew is taking some more tablets when Garry appears in the flat;  he wastes no time in demanding, “Do you still love Dani?”
"There's nothing going on, Garry"
Mathew tries to convince him that there is nothing going on – he thinks the world of her, but there is nothing going on between them.
"Come to see the patient, have you?"
Someone else is coming up the stairs, this time it is Dani;  “Oh, here she is!” Garry remarks, “Come to see the patient, have you?”   She tells him to go home, but he is adamant he is not going anywhere until he hears the truth.
"How many times?   There is no affair!"
“How many times?   There is no affair!” shouts Dani, but Garry is quite convinced that something is going on.
She snarls at him, “Just go – either you trust me, or . . .”
"Shame the acid didn't go on your face!"
Turning to Mathew, Garry’s parting words are, “It’s a shame that the acid didn’t go on your face!” and he walks out.
"You didn't deserve that, Mathew"
Dani apologises for that, pointing out that Mathew did not deserve it, but Mathew maintains that he is the one who should be sorry;
"I've caused you so much trouble"
“I’ve caused you so much trouble.”
"You do know nothing is going to happen, don't you?"
Dani begins, “You know that nothing is going to happen between us, don’t you?” and he confirms that he does;  she made it perfectly clear the other day,
"You're the first girl I fell in love with!"
but he confesses that she is the first girl with whom he fell in love.   He will never find someone like her again.
"You have Tesni, Mathew"
She reminds him that he has Tesni, but he groans, “I make her stomach turn.”   Dani assures him that things will get better – she will make sure of that, and his friends will help him.
"You're important to us, you know"
She stresses that he is important to them, and if he ever wants a chat, she is available –
"You know how much a like to talk"
and he knows how much she likes to talk, but she is also good at listening.
Dani leaves the flat
She leaves him alone.
"My pub, my whisky!"
Behind the bar in the Deri, Garry is downing drinks, and when Hywel comments upon it, he growls, “My pub, my whisky!”
"I don't understand why Ffion went so quickly"
Rhys tells his father he still does not understand why Ffion went to rehab so suddenly, and would not let him help her.
"Did you know Iolo's thinking of claiming compensation?"
“You couldn’t have done anything – you need to look after yourself,” Hywel answers, “Did you know that Iolo’s thinking of claiming compensation?”
Rhys does not like the sound of this
This comes as a very unwelcome surprise to Rhys.
Garry is still on the whisky upstairs
In the flat, Garry is still drinking the whisky, but he puts the glass down when he hears Dani coming upstairs.
"Thank you for giving us time"
“Thank you for giving us time,” she says, “We discussed lots of things – why are you drinking?
"He's sorry for causing trouble for us"
“He’s really upset, and he’s sorry for causing trouble for us – he didn’t mean to do that.”
Garry says he is also sorry for the way he has reacted, but she goes on, “I’ve promised to be there for him as a friend.”    Garry does not like the sound of this, but she continues, “He knows that is all we’ll ever be – Garry, he needs people – what’s happened to him is awful, and it will affect him for ever.”
"I've never seen anything like that before"
Sitting on the sofa, Garry confesses, “I’ve seen a lot of things in my life, but I’ve never seen anything like that before – he was in so much pain!
Garry has not been able to sleep
“I haven’t been sleeping very well – I keep seeing his eyes, full of fear.”
"You did everything you could, Gar"
Dani reminds him that he did everything he could, and again he expresses his sorrow for the way he has reacted,
"I've been an idiot, Dan"
admitting, “I’ve been an idiot,” with which Dani wholeheartedly agrees.
"Without trust we have nothing"
“You need to trust me, Garry, because without that we have nothing,” she tells him, and he confirms that he does trust her.   “You do remember that Tyler’s court case is tomorrow, don’t you?” she goes on, “I’m going – hes family, and you would do the same for Britt.”
"But Britt is not a  . . ."
He argues, But Britt is not a . . .”
"Remember what you said about 'trust'!"
She reprimands him, Dont start!    Remember what you said about ‘trust’!
