Dylan alights from a taxi . . .
A taxi arrives in the back street, and Dylan gets out;  he is in a rather battered state, with a black eye.
. . . in a rather dishevelled state
At the other end of the alley, Sara is waiting, and demands, “What on earth happened to you?   Where have you been?”
"Last night's business meeting turned messy"
He replies that he has been in A&E overnight;  “Last night’s business meeting turned messy – a bit of disagreement and too much wine – just a difference of opinion, and a touch of concussion.”
"That Daf is a bad influence on you!"
Sara is of the opinion that Daf is a bad influence on him, but he insists that he is fine now.
“I didn’t phone because it was late, and I didn’t want to wake you or Ifan,” he says.
"You can't go to view a house looking like that!"
She does not think they can go to the house viewing with him looking like that, but he will give the excuse that he has been playing rugby, and maintains that he will have a wash and find something else to wear, which will only take him 15 minutes.
"I promised to come, and I will"
“I promised to come to this viewing, and I will,” he assures her.
"We didn't go to the beach to collect plastic"
Britt and Colin are coming out of the café, followed by Gaynor;  “When I went to school, we used to learn – we didn’t go to the beach to collect plastic,” Britt moans.
"Why don't you come with us, Britt?"
Gaynor points out that it is part of the curriculum, and invites her to come with them.
"Yes, you could spend time with Aaron"
Colin thinks this a good idea and suggests that it would be a good chance to spend time with Aaron, so she feels pressured into agreeing to go.   “There’s just time for you to go and fetch your wellies,” he tells her.
"A trip to the seaside with the headmistress?   Yippee!"
When Gaynor has gone, Britt grumbles to Colin, “A trip to the seaside with the headmistress?   Yippee!”
The leftover Easter eggs are disappearing fast
In the shop, Kath is again pilfering from the leftover Easter egg boxes when she is almost caught by Eileen,
"What are you doing here?
who is surprised to see her and wonders what she is doing there.
"Sorry, Eileen – Kath is helping out"
Colin hurries in and explains, “I asked Kath to help out.”
"There was nothing going on between Jim and me"
Kath explains to Eileen that there was nothing going on between her and Jim, something which Eileen now accepts.
“He knew you liked the allotment, and wanted to leave you some land – you were friends, weren’t you?” Eileen says,
"That doesn't mean I'm happy with what he did"
adding tersely, “But that doesn’t mean I’m happy with what Jim did.”
Kath escapes to do some sweeping up outside
Kath seizes the opportunity to sweep up outside the shop as Colin apologises to Eileen, stressing that he should have told her Kath was there, but did not want to disturb her.
"Mind you, I'm not paying her"
“Mind you, Im not paying her,” he goes on.
Eileen is pleased to hear that;  “She’s had enough from our family!”   He pleads that he would never have had her there if he had known about her and Jim.
"It's not your fault, Colin"
Eileen consoles him that it is not his fault;  “You’ve given me so much support since Jim died.   Did you know that Izzy is staying with us?   She turned up yesterday – Eifion’s paid the rent.
"Could you have a word with Izzy?"
Could you have a word with her?   Because with everything that has been going on . . .”
He does not have a chance to say anything
He is about to explain to her the reason why Izzy is neither staying with her mother or father, but Eileen quickly leaves the shop before he can say.
"Your mother's coming with us, Aaron"
The schoolchildren are all ready to leave in the minibus, and Gaynor announces to Aaron that his mother is coming with them;  this does not exactly please him.
Britt has brought crisps for all the children
At that moment she arrives, with packets of crisps for all the participants to keep them going on the way.
Gaynor objects, “Britt, I’m not one to spoil anyone’s fun, but you do realise the purpose of today is to teach the children to respect the environment?   You can’t recycle crisp packets.”
"I've brought them now – we might as well eat them!"
“Well, I’ve brought them now, so we might as well eat them!” is Britt’s rejoinder, “We don’t want to throw food away.
"I've got major house envy, Sar"
In the café, Kelly is looking over Sara’s shoulder;  “Oh, I’ve got major house envy,” she sighs,
"He's got a hell of a shiner!"
“I’m glad Dylan’s going with you, but he’s got a hell of a shiner.”   Sara puts it down to businessmen acting like schoolboys.
Dylan now looks a bit more respectable
Dylan comes downstairs, looking slightly more presentable, followed by Jason,
"Open the bathroom window next time!"
who scornfully advises him to open the window in the bathroom next time.   Sara hurries Dylan away to their appointment, and Jason is relieved to hear that they are viewing a house.
"There's some 'lonely aura' around Sara"
“Something’s not quite right there – and it’s not just the black eye,” Kelly comments, “I don’t know – there’s some ‘lonely aura’ around Sara.”
"There's a real 'aura' around you, too!"
Jason says that since she came back from that retreat, there is a real ‘aura’ around Kelly too.
"My hunches are always right, Jase"
She assures him, “My hunches are always right, Jase,”
Kelly is back to her happy self
He reluctantly  has to go, and kisses her.
"I don't trust that Izzy!"
Out in the farmyard, Sioned is making herself useful doing some dirty work, and remarks to DJ, “I don’t trust that Izzy.”
"We shouldn't argue in front of your mother"
He agrees, but does not think that it is right that her mother should see them all arguing, and advises that Sioned should leave it to her mother to decide;  after all, Eifion has paid the rent.
"A friend has said she might have a room"
Izzy is approaching, and Sioned hopes that she has found somewhere to stay;  “I know that this is an awkward situation – but a friend has said she might have a room,” replies Izzy.
Eifion checks on how his plan is going
Her phone sounds, and she sees it is a message from Eifion;  ‘Going all right?’
. . . and she confirms that it is on track
to which she replies, ‘Yes’.
"It's looking promising"
She announces to them that it looks promising.
"I like having a day off at the seaside!"
On the beach, which we find is at Trecco Bay, Porthcawl, with Ogmore by Sea in the background, Britt is quite enjoying her day off at the seaside.   Gaynor comments that travelling by bus does not agree with her;
"And the smell of those crisps didn't help!"
“And the smell of those crisps didn’t help!” she adds.
Aaron reiterates to Britt that they are supposed to collect all the rubbish they can find in an hour,
"Can you at least pretend you're taking this seriously, Mam?"
and demands, “Can you at least pretend you’re taking this seriously, Mam?”
"Shall we put in an offer?"
Back from their house viewing, Sara sounds optimistic;  “I can see us living there – shall we put in an offer?”
"If we each put £15,000 in . . . "
Dylan is rather evasive, and suggests that if they each put £15,000 in, they could secure it;  he is sure that she does not want him to put the entire sum down, emphasising that it is important that she feels part of the process.
"I don't have that kind of money"
She sadly explains that she does not have that kind of money, so he advises talking to Jason about the future.   She maintains, “My future is with you,”
"You and Jason should share the assets"
and he explains that what he means is that they should share the assets.
"He doesn't have any – he gambled it all away"
“Jason doesn’t have any assets – he gambled it all away,” she answers, so he points out that he will get his share of APD at some point, and she reminds him that could be years away.   “Do you think we should put the house on hold?” she continues,
"Better sort out things with Jason first"
and Dylan thinks it wise to sort things out with Jason first.   She is now looking dubious.
"Hey, Aaron – look at this!"
Britt notices a large pile of plastic rubbish on the beach and summons Aaron;  “Look at all this plastic – where has it all come from?” she asks, rather naïvely.   He replies that people are responsible for it, and that is what he has been trying to tell her.
"This takes hundreds of years to break down in landfill"
“Look, this takes hundreds of years to break down in landfill – this fishing line is bad, too – birds get stuck in it,” he tells her, and it appears to suddenly dawn upon her what he has been talking about.
"I don't think I've ever taken any notice of it"
“All the times I’ve been to the seaside, and I don’t think I’ve ever taken any notice of it,” she says.   Aaron informs her that is the problem;  people do not look around them.   In a sudden change of attitude,
"Things are going to change in the house – and the chip shop"
she vows that from now on, things will change in the house, and in the chip shop.   He prompts her, “So no polystyrene?”
"I don't know what I'm going to do about the microbeads"
Britt is rather puzzled;  “I don’t know what I’m going to do about the microbeads in the fish.”
Kath seems to have developed an Easter egg fetish
In the shop, Kath is again loitering by the display of Easter eggs, as Izzy buys a motoring magazine for Mathew, and hopes that he will like it.   She says that he is trying to be positive,
"Take Mathew these, then"
so Kath gives her a couple of small Easter eggs for him.
"I heard you're not staying in the flat any more"
She is also about to tuck into one herself, when Colin comes in to speak to Izzy.   “I heard you’re not staying in the flat any more – that you’ve moved to Penrhewl,” he begins, and she replies that Mathew needs a bit of peace and quiet.   Meanwhile, Kath is munching on the Easter egg.
"It doesn't make any difference if I'm there"
“You must realise that Eileen has a lot on her plate,” Colin continues, but Izzy cannot see that it makes any difference if she is there, and emphasises that Eifion has paid for the room, so has every right to use it.   She storms out of the shop.
"Well, that told you, Colin!"
“Well, that told you!” Kath remarks, and he points out that is none of her business.
He discovers the evidence
He picks up some magazines, and the chocolate wrappers hidden inside them fall to the floor.
"Right!  That's it – I'm adding £10 to your slate!"
As she is still eating chocolate, he decides, “Right!   That’s it – I’m adding £10 to your slate!
"One word from you, and it will go up to £15!"
“Just one word from you, and it will go up to £15!   Clear it up, pronto!”
"Did you put in an offer for the house?"
Jason comes upstairs to the café flat, where he has been invited by Sara;  “Did you put in an offer on the house?” he asks her, but she says they are not sure yet.
"It might be an idea to sort out a divorce"
“Listen, Jase, I’ve been thinking – seeing that we’re both ready to move on, it might be an idea for us to sort out a divorce.”   He agrees with this approach,
"I assume that's what you want, too"
and she continues, “I know we haven’t discussed it properly, but I assume that’s what you want, too.”
"We have to sort it out sooner or later"
He acknowledges that there is no point in putting it off;  “We have to sort it out sooner or later,” and she reminds him they have to stay on good terms for Ifan’s sake.   She will contact a solicitor.
Kelly comes upstairs
At this point Kelly comes upstairs and asks how the viewing went;  Sara seems noncommittal and hastily leaves the flat.
"That 'really lonely aura' has gone, has it?"
Kelly remarks that Sara seems happier, and Jason presumes, “The ‘really lonely aura’ has gone, has it?”
"One day I hope you'll take me seriously"
Kelly hopes that one day he will take her seriously, and as he embraces her, he confirms that he does take her seriously.
"Whoa, tiger – I've got a café to run!"
“Whoa, tiger,” she protests, “I’ve got a café to run!” and she cannot spare even five minutes.
Gaynor weighs the bags of rubbish
On the beach, Gaynor is weighing the bags of rubbish and proclaims that the winners are Aaron and his mother;
Britt and Aaron are jubilant
“We’re very grateful to Mrs Monk for coming to help us today – and we hope that she has learned something.   Right, it’s lunchtime – thank you for all your help – you’ve worked very hard.”
Gaynor has brought her IKEA  container
Aaron made ham and cucumber sandwiches earlier, and shares them with his mother;  Gaynor is using one of her IKEA Jämka containers with a blue lid for her sandwiches.
"I wouldn't eat in front of the children . . ."
She is reprimanded by Britt;  “Thanks for this morning – I learned a lot.   One thing, if I were you, I wouldn’t eat in front of the children –
". . . that cling film – you can't recycle it!"
“that cling film – you can’t recycle it!   You don’t want to be a bad influence, do you?”
Britt sniggers
Pleased with her performance, Britt sits there, giggling to herself.
Dylan appreciates not getting booked
In the Deri, Dylan is thanking DJ for not reporting him for the parking the other day;  “I don’t usually do that, but under the circumstances . . .”
We have not seen much of Gwen lately
DJ begins, “Are you sure you didn’t see anyone loitering around Tapas?   In the weeks leading up to the attack, I mean – you hear about these things happening in Swansea – but not in Cwmderi.”
"I'm sure it happens everywhere"
Dylan maintains that he is sure it happens everywhere, but DJ goes on, “It’s a bit of a risk in a small place like this – anyone could have seen him.”   Dylan is becoming increasingly uneasy, and points out that these people do not think logically.
"Why in the middle of the street, outside Tapas?"
DJ will not let the matter drop, adding, “But why in the middle of the street outside Tapas?   You would think they’d want to do it somewhere quiet, out of the way –
"Perhaps this bloke want to send out a message"
“perhaps this bloke wants to send out some sort of message.”
Sara provides Dylan with a chance to escape
Dylan is very relieved to see Sara come in, as now he has an excuse to escape from DJ.
"Jason agrees that we need a divorce"
She says, “I’ve had a chat with Jason and he agrees that we need a divorce – and keep it friendly.”
"That's fantastic news, Sara!"
She is rather disappointed by Dylan’s muted reaction, so he describes it as fantastic news.
He pays for a bottle of bubbly
He obviously still has a few pounds left, and hands Sara a note, with which to buy some champagne;
Is this what is meant by 'pulling your hair out'?
he is looking extremely worried.
Eileen has burned her hand
At the farm, Eileen is jam-making when she burns her hand and is told by Izzy to run cold water on it, while Izzy goes on filling the jars.
She had an unsettled night with Huwi
Eileen admits that she did not sleep much last night, as Huwi would not settle.   I
"If there's anything I can do to help"
zzy says, “If there’s anything I can do to help with Huwi, just let me know.”
"You've made yourself at home!"
When Sioned comes in, she is quick to comment, “You’ve made yourself at home!” but her mother points out that Izzy is just helping.   “You’d be more helpful if you found somewhere else to live,” Sioned goes on,
and Izzy maintains that her friend’s house was not possible, which Sioned regards as very convenient.
"Eifion could come back and sort it out"
Izzy’s next ploy is to suggest that Eifion could come back to sort things out, but, as she already knew, Eileen does not want that to happen, and consents that Izzy can stay there for now.
"Colin has been very kind to me, Sioned"
She points out to Sioned that Colin has been very kind to her, and Izzy is pleased that her plan has worked.
Izzy takes the jars of jam to the storeroom
When Izzy has taken the jam to the store room,
"Do you realise what you're doing, Mam?"
Sioned snarls, “Do you realise what you’re doing?   Remember what Eifion did?”   Eileen is confident Izzy will not be there long, and what Eifion did was nothing to do with her.   Sioned does not trust her, but is told quite forcibly that it is her mother’s decision.
Dylan does not look optimistic
Sara pours the champagne while Dylan is not looking very enthusiastic;  “I know you’re disappointed about the house, but we’ll find somewhere,” he tells her.
"I'm going to sort out everything with Jason first"
She has decided to stop looking for the perfect house until everything is sorted with Jason.
"Perhaps it wasn't meant to be"
“Perhaps it was just not meant to be,” Dylan comments,
He does not want to speak to Daf
then his phone rings, and we see that the caller is Daf.
"You're getting all my attention today"
He rejects the call, assuring Sara that she will be getting all his attention today,
Daf is obviously becoming angry
but then a text message arrives (revealing that this episode was due to be shown on 16 April), warning, “Stop ignoring me!”
"He was apologising for last night"
However, he tells Sara that Daf is apologising for last night.
"To you, me and the future"
Sara proposes a toast, “To you, me and the future!”
Izzy carefully picks her way across the muddy farmyard
Out in the farmyard, Izzy dials Eifion’s number on her phone,
"What's the next step?"
and reports, “Hi, Eifion – I’m allowed to stay – what’s the next step?”
