Jinx hides the gas heater

Jinx wheels the gas heater into the office at Brynawelon and is in the process of hiding it under the desk when Siwsi comes in and tells him that the ambulance is about to leave.

"I'm going with Anita"

“I’m going with Anita – can you let Eleri know?”   He agrees that of course he can.

"It was in the paramedics' way"

She wonders what he was doing and he replies, “The heater was in the paramedics’ way, so I moved it.”

"You don't think that caused it?"

“You don’t think the heater caused what happened to Anita do you?” she asks.   He replies that he does not,

"You go with Anita"

urging her to go with Anita and let him know how she is.

After all that, the electricity is back

At that moment, the lights come back on.

Rhys gets back to number 21 . . .

Rhys arrives back home at number 21 and finds Kelly waiting for him;

. . . where Kelly is waiting for him

she announces, “I’ve opened a bottle of wine and I’ve found a really romantic film that I think you’re going to really like, actually.   Come on, then – chop, chop.   We’re late starting because you’ ve been stuck in work.”

He pounces on her

He immediately and passionately kisses her, but she comments, “Aren’t we supposed to kiss after the date?”

"I couldn't wait!"

He answers that he could not wait and kisses her again.

Eleri gets Ieuan out of the bath

There is an urgent knocking on the door of number 7 and Ieuan hurries downstairs in his dressing gown.   It is Eleri, who demands where he has been, so he replies, “In the bath.”

"Situation at Brynawelon!"

Seeing that she is carrying a bag, he enquires whether she is moving in;  so she explains, “I’ve just arrived back from a conference – I haven’t been home.   There’s been a situation at Brynawelon– and Anita is on her way to hospital.”

"Is Anita all right?"

When Ieuan asks if she is all all right,

There is no reply

there is no reply.

Whatever they did — it was 'lush'

Kelly and Rhys come downstairs at number 21;

"Don't forget the crisps"

now apparently it is time for the wine.   “That was lush,” says Kelly, “Don’t forget the crisps.”

"I'm not going to get you to myself`"

Then there is a banging on the door and she concludes that she is not going to get Rhys to herself tonight.

The caller is Ieuan, who informs Kelly, “Anita – you’d better come with me – she’s in hospital!

"Anita's in hospital . . ."

". . . we'll find out more when we get there"

“We’ll find out more when we get there.”

"Can you come with me?"

Kelly is insistent that Rhys should go with her, although he maintains that it should be just family.

Eleri tries to contact Siwsi

Eleri is back at Cysgod y Glyn and is trying to contact Siwsi;  when Jinx  comes in, she asks if he has had an update on Anita, which he has not.

`"I'm going up to Brynawelon"

“Let me know if you hear anything – I’m going up to Brynawelon.   I’ve only been away for one day and I come back to this circus!   What’s the point of having a backup generator if it doesn’t work?”

"It was my fault"

Jinx tells her, “It was my fault – I took a gas heater to Brynawelon, Siwsi put it in Anita’s room and . . . you know.”

"You think the gas heater . . ?"

“You think the gas heater . . ?”

"It must have been"

In his opinion it must have been;  he does not know what comes out of it.

Eleri wants to know where the heater is now

"It's hidden in your office"

and is told that it is hidden in her office because he panicked.

"You were trying to help, Huw"

“You were trying to help, Huw,” she tells him, but he is determined that if he is responsible for this,

"I have to go to the police"

he has to go to the police.

"It's only Siwsi and us that know . . ."

She will not hear of this, arguing, “It’s only Siwsi and us that know,

". . . so as long as we keep our mouth shut . . ."

“so as long as we keep our mouth shut, everything will be fine.”   Jinx is not at all happy with this situation.

"He's not coming, is he?"

In the Deri, where Dani is on duty behind the bar, Iolo sighs, “He’s not coming, is he?   I just wanted a chance to explain myself.”   She assures him that he has done his best,

"Well, I'm not staying here"

but he is determined not to stay there and look like a fool, so finishes his drink

Then he meets Morgan

and is about to leave, when he meets Morgan in the doorway.

"I'm fashionably late"

“I’m fashionably late,” he says, but that does not matter to Iolo as he is there now;  he assumes that Morgan got caught up in work.

"I was not sure if I was going to come"

“No, I wasn’t sure if I was going to come, to be honest, but I’m here now.”

"Want a pint?"

Iolo looks pleased to hear that and offers him a pint.

They arrive at the hospital . . .

Ieuan, Kelly and Rhys burst into the hospital,

. . . hand in hand . . .

with Kelly and Rhys holding hands;

. . . where Siwsi updates them

they are told by Siwsi that Anita is being assessed and after that is finished, they will be able to see her.

"She was having trouble breathing"

“She was having trouble breathing,” Siwsi adds

"Thank you, Siwsi"

and Kelly is grateful to her.

"Can you follow me?"

A nurse invites them to follow her, so Rhys and Siwsi are left alone in the corridor.

"If you hadn't come . . .`~"

“I feel terrible,” says Siwsi, “If you hadn’t come up, I would have kept an eye on Anita.”

"If you hadn't phoned, I wouldn't have come"

He reminds her that if she had not phoned, he would not have come up;  “Do you think I’m enjoying this?” he demands.

"I'm not usually a 'hook-ups' person"

Iolo is trying to explain, “Look, I’m not usually a ‘hook-ups’ person – and I never pretend to be someone else,

"It's just not me"

“but everything I’ve been doing over the last few months – it’s not me.   I just had a bit of a rebrand and it’s backfired.”

"You're supposed to say something"{

He goes on that now is the time that Morgan is supposed to say something.   “What do you want me to say?

"We hardly know each other, do we?"

“We hardly know each other, do we?   You don’t need to prove anything to me.”

"I like you"

Iolo insists that he wants to do so, because he likes Morgan.

"Which 'you' is here right now?"

“Do you?   The question is, which ‘you’ is here right now?” enquires Morgan.

"The one who always makes a mess of things"

Iolo replies, “This is me – the awkward keen bean who always makes a mess of things.”

"There's a touch of the Andrex puppy about you"

Morgan remarks that there is a touch of the Andrex puppy about him.  “Perhaps because I want to find someone –

"I want to get to know you better"

“and I want to get to know you better – full disclosure.”

"Everything is easier if you're just honest"

Morgan agrees, “Everything is easier if you’re just honest, isn’t it?”

"Can we just start again"

Iolo would like them to simply start again.

"Anita saw us – you have tell Kelly"

As they stand in the hospital corridor, Siwsi says, “We almost kissed and Anita saw us – you’ll have to tell Kelly.”

"Are you mad?"

Rhys is horrified by this suggestion;  “Are you mad?   Not in the middle of all this.”

"She could say something"

Siwsi points out that if Anita wakes up, she could say something – and if she does not . . .

Rhys makes it very clear that nothing happened;

"Anita has dementia"

“Anita has dementia –she can’t remember things from one second to the next – remember, she wanted a lift to the railway station a few hours ago.   So there’s no need to get ahead of ourselves – and no-one needs to know about our mistake.   What else would you call it?

"I love Kelly"

I love Kelly.”

"Some kind of chest infection"

Kelly comes out into the corridor;  “They reckon she has some kind of chest infection – she needs a chest X-ray to see what’s going on.   She’s stable, which is a good thing –

"I can't understand why it was not picked up"

“I just don’t understand why no one picked up on the fact that she had a chest infection.   I don’t know, has she been coughing or anything?”

Siwsi does not know the answer to that as there was a lot going on;

"With the power cut"

“I was just trying to make sure everyone was OK with the power cut.”

"What power cut?"

Kelly did not know anything about a power cut

"It went off for a couple of hours"

and is told that the electricity went off for a couple of hours

"So no heating?"

“So no heating?   Everyone was freezing?”

"I tried to make sure . . ."

Siwsi tried to make sure . . . but is cut off by Kelly, who shouts, “Why weren’t we told about the power cut?

"I could have come to get her!"

“I could have come to get her if I had known!”

"It all makes sense now"

She resists any attempt by Rhys to calm her down, realising that it all makes sense now;

"Auntie Neet is here because you neglected her"

“Auntie Neet is in here because you neglected her!” she rages.

Siwsi is left in tears

Siwsi is left in tears as Kelly looks through the window at Auntie Neet.

"What else are you hiding?"

“Go on, then – what else are you hiding?” She demands, “What other secrets are there in Brynawelon?”

"This is a call from Eleri"

Siwsi’s phone sounds and she finds that it is a call from Eleri, but Kelly has not finished yet;

"This should never have happened . . ."

“This should never have happened – especially given the extortionate amount we pay for you to keep her safe!   You’re not fit to look after anyone –

". . . and I'll make sure everyone knows"

“and I’m going to make damn sure that everyone knows it!”

"What's all this shouting?"

Ieuan appears, demanding to know what all the shouting is about and informs Kelly that they can see Anita now.

"I expected better"

“I expected better – especially from you!” snarls Kelly.   Rhys suggests that seeing Anita might help to calm her down, but she is having none of that;

"Don't tell me how to feel, Rhys!"

“Don’t tell me how to feel, Rhys – particularly when it comes to Auntie Neet!”

Rhys leaves Siwsi

Siwsi is left alone, sobbing in the corridor.

"That Chateaubriand was wonderful"

Eileen and Siôn come into the Deri;  he is praising the Châteaubriand and Eileen agrees that it is nice to have a treat sometimes.   Siôn regards it as an opportunity to forget about their ungrateful offspring,

"Speaking of offspring . . ."

speaking of which, he notices Iolo, who is at this point sitting on his own.

His father asks if they can join him,

"I've got company"

but Iolo replies, “You’d better not – I’ve got company.”

"Oh, Mr Huws"

They turn to see Morgan approaching;  “Oh, Mr Huws, the school’s new deputy,” she gasps, introducing him to Siôn,

"I hope we're not interrupting"

who did not know that he and Iolo were friends and hopes that they are not interrupting.

"Yes, you are"

“Yes, you are,” he is told by Iolo.

"You must have a 'thing' for teachers"

His father imagines he must have a ‘thing’ for teachers.

"I've been phoning you"

Eleri comes into Y Felin, informing Siwsi that she has been phoning;  “Why didn’t you answer, then?   How’s Anita?”

"Kelly wants to sue Brynawelon"

Siwsi advises that they think that she has chest infection – and that Kelly wants to sue Brynawelon, accusing them of neglect.

"Leave Kelly to me"

“Leave Kelly to me – no, we need to discuss this gas heater.   You need to stick to the same story as me – because, if you don’t,

Back to the old, threatening Eleri

“I’ll make sure you never work another day in your life!”

Anita is stirring

At the hospital, they are sitting round Anita's bed and we can see that she is moving;

"We're here for you, Auntie Neet"

Kelly assures Anita that they are there for her and that she is safe.

"There's too much noise here"

“She’d be better off in a private room – there’s too much noise,” complains Ieuan.

“You heard what the doc said – there’s no room at the inn,” groans Kelly.

How did we get here?"

“How did we get here?” Ieuan asks in desperation;

"Ask Siwsi"

he is told to ask Siwsi.   When Rhys protests at this,

"Why can't you just be on my side for a change?"

she demands, “Why can’t you just be on my side for a change?”

Ieuan asks them not to start this now as they need to conserve Anita’s strength.

"I'll go and get something"

Rhys will go and get something for them,

"I'll give you some peace, then"

but Kelly does not want anything, so he proposes to go and give them some peace.

'I'm no use, except as a punch-bag"

However, Kelly does not want him to go, although he protests that he is no help there, “Except as a punchbag.”

"Please stay, Rhys"

Kelly begs him to stay, so he agrees that he will,

They clasp hands

as they clasp hands.

Eileen looks across

In the Deri, Eileen looks across at Iolo and Morgan talking

"I would never have thought he was gay"

and remarks to Dani, behind the bar, “I would never thought that Mr Huws was gay, would you?”

"Does it matter?"

Dani wonders whether it matters but Eileen considers it such a waste, a handsome man like that.

"I thought you were happy with Siôn"

“A waste for who, Eileen?   I thought you were happy with Siôn.”

Eileen pumps Dani for more information;

"Iolo is enjoying himself . . .`'

“Have they been going out for long?”   Dani answers that they are casual;  Iolo is enjoying himself

". . . with whoever he likes . . ."

and has a right to enjoy himself with whoever he likes and wherever he likes.

". . . even if it is in the changing rooms!"

“Even if that happens to be the rugby club changing rooms,” she adds, rather inadvisedly, “Don’t do you remember?   When he went AWOL – I thought everyone knew.”

Eileen is horrified

Seeing the expression on Eileen’s face,

"Just forget that I said anything"

Dani adds, “Just forget I said anything, all right?”

Eileen disapproves

Eileen looks very disapproving.

"Can gases cause chest infections?"

Jinx is sitting, deep in thought, at Cysgod y Glyn, when Eleri comes in;  “Can gases cause chest infections?” he asks.

"They could close us down!"

She does not know, but is more concerned that Kelly might sue them, which would ruin everything.   “The generator didn’t come on – there might be an investigation.   They could close us down because of this!”

Jinx does further investigation

He looks at his phone;  “According to this, gases can make people unconscious which can lead to a chest infection – and worse.

"What if Anita doesn't come through this?"

“What if Anita doesn’t come through this?”

Not something she wants to think about

Eleri appears reluctant to consider this scenario.

"Have you enjoyed your evening?"

In the Deri, Eileen walks casually up to Morgan, asking him if he has enjoyed the evening.   “Yes,” he replies, “Although it has been a bit of a rollercoaster to get here.”

"A little word of advice"

In her infinite wisdom, Eileen imparts a little word of advice;  “Cwmderi is a very, very small place and gossip is carried on the wind.”

"I'm used to the mechanics"

He assures her that he is used to the mechanics of a small village, so she should not worry.   “Oh, are you?   That surprises me, considering you’ve been so careless.

"You need to protect your good name"

“Someone of your status in the school needs to protect his good name.”

"I should hide my sexuality?"

“Are you suggesting that I should hide my sexuality?   I have not done anything wrong by meeting Iolo here.”

"What about the rugby club changing rooms?"

She agrees that he has not, “But what about the rugby club changing rooms?   The story is spreading about your wild night in the changing rooms during Cwmfest.”

"I've never been to the rugby club"

Morgan vehemently protests, “That wasn’t me – I’ve never even been to the rugby club!”

"Shall we go home?"

At this point Siôn comes over, suggesting that they should go home and, as she is leaving,

"A word to the wise, Mr Huws"

she comments to Morgan, “A word to the wise, Mr Huws, good night.”

"Good – they've gone"

Iolo returns, carrying two drinks and is glad to see that they have gone, but Morgan is already picking up his jacket,

"I'm going"

saying that he does not want one and is going.   “Sorry if Dad and Eileen . . .” Iolo begins.

“You’ve got a habit of lying, haven’t you?” Morgan remarks,

"Why would you tell people that?"

“Why would you tell people that we slept together in the rugby club changing rooms?”

"I didn't do that"

Iolo protests that he did no such thing,

"I've got no interest in scandal"

but is told, “I’ve got no interest in being part of any scandal!” and he walks out.

Dani is surprised to see him rapidly making his exit and looks across at Iolo,

Iolo does not know what is going on

who appears not to know what is going on.

Rhys has brought coffee

Rhys brings a couple of coffees to Kelly and Ieuan;

"Kell!"

Anita appears to be taking more notice and says, “Kell!”

"You're in the hospital, love"

They tell her that she is in hospital

"I need to tell you something important"

and she is insistent, “I have to say something.   I need to tell you something important.”

This 'puts the wind up' Rhys

This greatly troubles Rhys,

"Why don't we go home?"

who suggests that they had better go home and give Anita a chance to rest.

"I'm not leaving Auntie Neet!"

Kelly shakes her head, stressing, “I’m not leaving this hospital – I’m not leaving Auntie Neet!”

Now he is even more fearful . . .

Rhys is extremely anxious about

. . . as Anita tries to speak

what it is that Anita wants to say.
