"Aren't you happy to see me?"
“What’s wrong? Aren’t you happy to see me?” asks Owain.
"If you try to hurt me, I'll scream!"
Cassie warns him that there is a bar full of people downstairs, so if he tries to hurt her, she will scream.
"Unlike you, I'm not a murderer"
“Why would I hurt you?” he continues, “I’m just here to see my Gran – and, unlike you, I’m not a murderer.”
"They must be here somewhere"
Kelly comes into number 7, muttering to herself, “Keys, keys – they must be here somewhere,”
She searches through drawers . . .
as she searches various drawers and cupboards.
. . . and other places
“OK, Auntie Neet, where would you have put the keys?”
"Not now, Rhys!"
Her phone sounds and she finds that it is a call from Rhys, which she decides to ignore, going into the kitchen to continue her search.
"Can you get some oat milk?"
In the deli, Eleri asks Garry if he can get some milk for the flat, as she is on her way to a meeting. “Don’t forget I drink oat milk.”
He seems to be ignoring her,
"If you wanted to bring your family together . . ."
but asks, “If you wanted to bring your family together, what would you do?”
"Only money would bring together Dad and me"
She replies that if he wants a lovey-dovey answer, he is asking the wrong person; “Only money would bring together Dad and me.”
"I'm doing bit of research . . ."
As she leaves, Siôn is coming in and informs her that he is doing a bit of research;
". . . I'd like your opinion of my manifesto"
he would love to hear her opinion of his manifesto.
"Manifesto?"
She sneers, “Manifesto? To be a local councillor? I don’t have time –
"I'm not interested"
“and I’m not interested, either.”
"I'm interested, Siôn"
As Siôn orders a latté to go, Garry comments that he is interested and could help.
"The two of us have a lot in common"
“The two of us have a lot in common – you’re talking to the bloke who saved the village from being drowned – and I know how hard you would work if you were elected.”
"What sort of help are you offering?"
Siôn suspiciously enquires what sort of help he is offering;
"I assume you'll need financial support"
“Well, I assume you’ll need financial support for campaign.”
Siôn thanks him for the offer, but Tamed and the shop are already sponsoring him. “You don’t need more cash, then?” wonders Garry.
"I want to be a Parish Councillor, not Prime Minister!"
"The offer will still be there"
Garry assures him that the offer will still be there when he realises how much it is going to cost.
"Your latté, Siôn"
Then Siôn is alerted to the fact that his latte is ready and he informs Garry that everything is under control;
"Your vote will be enough"
his vote will be enough.
Kelly has convened a meeting
Kelly has asked Diane to call;
"I've been doing some research"
“I’ve been doing some research about how much money we would get for Morawel.”
Ieuan is interested in her findings, so she continues, “Well, a couple of similar houses on the same patch have sold for, like, over 200K. So I got a bit carried away and phoned an estate agent.”
"Without telling Siôn?"
“Without telling Siôn?” Diane asks.
"We med the keys"
Kelly point out that they need the keys to have it valued and would like to know where they are. Neither Diane nor Ieuan have any idea, so she comes to the conclusion that they will have to get them from Siôn.
"That's £100,000 each"
Ieuan stresses that would mean at least £100,000 each for Anita and Siôn, which would be enough to keep Anita in Brynawelon for a while.
Kelly shows her determination
Kelly is determined, “I’m not going to rest until the place has a ‘sold’ sign!”
"Are you going to vote for me?"
As Mark puts up more posters on the Deri, he asks Jinx, “Are you going to vote for me or what?”
"I shall read what everyone is offering"
He replies that he will have to read what every other candidate is offering, so Mark invites him over to the Deri for a pint tonight and he will pay.
Free pint for everyone who votes for me!"
“A free pint for everyone who votes for me!”
"Who's paying for all the pints?"
In that case, Jinx confirms he will be there, but Kath has just come out and enquires who will be paying for all those pints; “What guarantee do you have that he will vote for you?”
Mark maintain that trust goes a long way,
The two protagonists . . .
then they see Siôn, his chief rival, approaching;
. . . come face to face . . .
they glower at each other for a moment
. . . then Siôn walks away
then Siôn walks away.
"I don't know what you want from me"
Up in the Deri flat, Cassie does not know what her grandson wants from her; she thought that she had made herself clear in the letter.
"I want to know why you don't want to see me"
“I want to know why you don’t want to see me,” he replies.
She makes it very clear that it is because he came into her home without permission and wrote disgusting things on the wall.
"How else was I supposed to get your attention?"
“How else was I supposed to get your attention?” he demands, “You ignored every letter I sent – you can’t even look at me – do I remind you of what you did?”
"I want you to leave!"
Cassie wants him to leave, but he gets up and goes on, “Do you know what?
"I thought I was the result of a one night stand"
Cassie says that she his mother was trying to protect his feelings, but he thinks otherwise;
"She was trying to hide the truth about you!"
“No, she was trying to hide the truth about you!” Cassie maintains that what his mother said has nothing to do with her,
"So go and talk to her about it"
so he should go home and talk to her about it.
"Mam is dead . . ."
He announces that his mother is dead; “You’re the only family I have left –
". . . you're the only one who can give me answers"
“and you’re the only one who can give me answers.
Garry is snooping around
Garry is loitering outside the pizza shop and peering in through the windows, which causes Jinx to ask what he is doing.
"I want to buy this place"
“I want to buy this place,” is the answer, but Jinx informs him that it is not for sale.
“No, I know – but I want it! I’ll give you £100,000.”
"Is this a joke?"
Jinx regards this as a joke, explaining that will not even cover the rest of the mortgage. Besides that, he does not want to sell, because he enjoys running the business.
"I thought you wanted to be an artist"
“I thought you wanted to be an artist – putting some tomato sauce on a pizza base isn’t art, is it?” Garry sneers,
"Waiting for drunk people to come in?"
“You don’t really enjoy just sitting there every night, waiting for drunk people to come in after stop tap.”
Jinx counters with, “If it’s so terrible, why do you want to do it?”
"Let's discuss the matter"
Garry says that he would have staff and wants to discuss the matter, but Jinx insists that there is nothing to discuss; he is not selling, especially for such a low price.
Kelly comes along the street, trying to track down Siôn White;
"In the Deri"
Garry tells her that he is in the Deri,
"Right – the Deri!"
so she heads in that direction. Garry tells Jinx that they will talk business some other time.”
Siôn wants more money . . .
Siôn has another pint in his hand and is speaking to Eileen on the phone; “I’m not being ungrateful, but are you sure you can’t afford to give me a bit more sponsorship money?
. . . as printing is so expensive
“It’s unscrupulous how much these companies charge for printing a few posters!”
"I'm busy"
Kelly arrives and sits opposite him; although he says he is busy, she insists that she wants a word with him. “Your translating will have to wait, because this is important!
"I don't bite"
“Don’t look so nervous, Siôn – I don’t bite!”
Diane and Ieuan join her
She calls Diane and Ieuan across to join them, then continues, “I won’t beat about the bush, because you’re busy, apparently.
"We want to sell Morawel"
“We want to sell Morawel and I need the keys to let the estate agent in.”
"I don't want to sell"
Siôn replies that she already knows that he does not want to sell,
"It's not making a penny!"
so she points out, “You bought it to make cash and it’s not making a penny!”
"It will when the repairs are finished"
He argues that it will once the repair work is finished,
"What if there's another problem?"
but Ieuan wonders what will happen if another problem arises.
"I want a list of the work and the invoices . . ."
Kelly resumes, “If you don’t want to sell, I want a list of all this building work you’ve done, OK, and the invoices, so we can make sure it matches how much rent Auntie Anita has missed out on.”
Siôn now concedes that he is willing to have it valued,
". . . keys, please"
so Kelly expects him to hand over the keys there and then, but he maintains that the builders have them. She is incredulous that they only have one set of keys. “Phone them, then!”
He refuses, but says that he will deal with this;
"I used to be an estate agent!"
“Siôn, I used to be an estate agent – I know what I’m doing,” she cautions him. He prevaricates that he deals with a local company, from whom they bought the place.
"We want to know the price"
Ieuan proposes that Siôn should organise everything, but they want to know the price before it goes on the market. Siôn agrees with this,
"I shall be going over there – got it?"
but Kelly promises, “If I’m not happy, I shall be going over there – got it?”
Ieuan tells Siôn, “Smile – Morawel is going to make you some money for once, instead of taking it.”
Siôn appears to be in rather a fix . . .
They all get up and leave, while Siôn appears very uncomfortable.
. . . as Garry has just discovered
Then the camera shifts to the very next table, at which Garry is sitting, having listened in to all of this.
"Why are there no photos of your family?"
Owain is still in the Deri flat and asks Cassie, “Why are there no photos of your family?” She answers that they are in a box in the cupboard.
"Are there pictures of Dad?"
He enquires if there are pictures of his father and she says that she is very sorry about his mother, but did not know.
“What was he like when he was growing up?” is the next question,
"He was adopted as a baby"
but Cassie does not know as he was adopted when he was a baby. Owain is disgusted that he was just dumped.
"I wanted him to have a better life"
“I was young – I wanted him to have a better life – and he did.”
"He did, until he found you!"
“Until he found you!” snarls Owain. Now Cassie demands that he leaves. “You hate having me here, don’t you? Do you want to hit me – on the head, like you did to Dad?”
"I know exactly what happened"
Cassie angrily tells him that he has no idea what happened, but he says that he has done his research and takes some papers from his bag. “I know exactly what happened.”
He has the newspaper cuttings
She looks at his newspaper cuttings with horror.
Mark is nervous . . .
At the bar in the Deri, Mark is telling Diane and his mother, “Now that all the flyers have gone out I’m feeling nervous –
. . . he is anxious to do this right
“it’s important to me that I do this and I do it right. Do you think I’m good enough?” he asks Diane.
"I'm here for you, 100%"
She replies that of course he is, promising that if he needs any information, she is there for him, 100%. He is greatly encouraged by this;
"There's no stopping meow, is there?"
“There’s no stopping me now, is there?”
"He needed that, Diane"
As he walks out of the Deri, Kath thanks Diane for her words; “He needed that.”
"There are too may middle-class men there"
Diane is pleased that people like Mark are standing; “There are too many middle-class men there.” Talking of middle class men,
"We support Mark in the Deri"
Kath calls across to Siôn, thanking him for the e-mail but explaining that they will not be contributing to his campaign, because they support Mark Jones in the Deri.
"I understand perfectly"
He understands that perfectly; as he leaves, Kath mutters, “He’s arrogant, isn’t he?”
"This is almond milk!"
At Cysgod y Glyn, Eleri looks in the fridge and complains, “I said I wanted oat milk – this is almond.” The buzzer sounds,
Garry goes to answer the door
so Garry ignores her and goes to answer it; it is Siôn, so Garry asks Eleri if she can give them some space.
"Siôn and I ned to have a private conversation"
“Siôn and I need to have a private conversation.” She reminds him that this is her home, so he recalls that she said she was going to the Deri tonight and offers her some money.
"I don't need your money"
“I don’t need your money,” she sneers
"Don't expect me to do this again`"
as she picks up her bag and warns him not to expect her to do this again.
Siôn comes in
When Siôn comes in,
"I assume you've changed your mind"
Garry assumes that he has changed his mind.
"You haven't even said sorry"
Owain points out that Cassie has not even said sorry;
"Why did you bother coming here?"
“If you know so much about me, why did you bother to come here in the first place? Are you after money?”
"I will never go back there!"
He angrily replies that what he wants are answers and to know what happened to his father. Cassie says that she can never give him that, because she will never go back there – for him or anyone else.
"What's going on?"
The raised voices have brought Kath upstairs to find out what is going on and she asks who this is. Cassie says that he is leaving now.
"Did you hear that? You're leaving!"
Kath repeats what she said, “Did you hear that? You’re leaving!”
"I'm not disappearing like Dad did"
He folds up his newspaper cuttings, advising Cassie that she might not have a choice; “Because I’m not disappearing like Dad did!”
"Was that Steffan's son?"
Kath reaches the conclusion that he was Steffan’s son.
"What have you got to gain?"
“I’m very grateful for your offer, Garry, but I need to understand what you have to gain from the campaign, because I know that you don’t do anything for free, do you?”
"Losing a child changes everything"
Garry suggests that he might have changed; “Losing a child changes everything. The village is more important to me now than ever before.
"I want to make sure their home is safe"
“I want to make sure that Britt, Gwern and Dani’s home is safe.”
"That's what you saved Maes-y-Deri"
Siôn realises that is why he saved Maes-y-Deri. “We haven’t always seen eye to eye,” Garry agrees,
"You'll look after this place"
“But I know that you will look after this place better than any other councillor.”
"There's no hidden agenda?"
“And you have no hidden agenda?” asks Siôn, suspiciously.
"I would have bribed someone with a lot more power"
“You know me, Siôn – if I had a hidden agenda, I would have bribed someone with a lot more power than a local councillor.”
"The legal sum and not a penny more"
Siôn stresses that he is only willing to accept the legal sum and not a penny more,
"I'm not offering a penny more"
but Garry insists that he is not offering a penny more.
"I want you to help me look after my family"
“I want to help you so that you can help me look after my family, nothing more.”
They strike a deal
They shake hands on the deal, but Siôn would prefer that the arrangement is kept quiet. “I wouldn’t want anyone to think I’ve turned soft,” laughs Garry.
"Pint, please, Ger"
Jinx turns up in the Deri and asks for a pint. Eleri is already there
"Am I wasting my life making pizzas?"
and he asks her, “Do you think I’m wasting my life making pizzas?” She replies she does not, if making pizzas is what he wants to do.
"I'd rather die than stress about pepperoni!"
“I’d rather die then stress about pepperoni!” she adds, “But who am I to say anything? I’m wasting my time living with my boss – he had the cheek to kick me out of my own flat to have a meeting with Siôn White, of all people!
"What's wrong with me?"
“What’s wrong with me?” She gets up and walks out.
Mark is altering the posters
Meanwhile, Mark is making some alterations to his posters,
When Diane sees what he is doing . . .
but when Diane sees what he is doing, she is furious.
"They're bound to vote for me now"
He maintains that people are bound to vote for him if they know that she supports him.
"I can't be seen to support anyone . . ."
She insists that was a private conversation; “I promised to help you with the process, not support you as a candidate! Look, as a leader of the county council I can’t be seen to support anyone – even on the parish council.
". . . so take them down, now!"
“Take them down now.”
"Nothing's going right with my campaign!"
“Nothing’s going right with my campaign,” he moans,
"You're paying for this one, Mark!"
but then Jinx calls to him, pointing out that this is the pint he promised to pay for.
"It smells like a chip shop!"
Eleri returns to Cysgod y Glyn; “I’ve asked you to stop frying things in here!” she complains, “It smells like a chip shop – you can clear up as well!”
"There are a couple of sausages left"
Garry tells her there are a couple of sausages left, but she is not interested and goes on, “I don’t appreciate you kicking me out, either!”
"Are you still friends with Jinx?"
“Are you still friends with Jinx?” Garry asks.
"He thinks we are"
She would not describe him as a friend, but he probably would.
“Will you try and persuade him to sell The Pizza Place to me?”
"Shouldn't you be concentrating on your health?"
She cannot understand why he wants it; “Shouldn’t you be concentrating on your health?” she asks.
"I don't want to hear you talk about that!"
He makes it very clear that he does not want to hear her talk about his health – or the cancer.
"It's my business and no-one else's!"
“It’s my business and no one else’s!”
"We should call the police"
Kath brings a couple of drinks up to the flat and suggests that they should call the police, as he cannot just turn up like that.
"He won't come back"
Cassie replies, “He’s gone now –and he won’t come back – I’ve answered everything as best I can.”
"He didn't look very happy with your answers"
Kath maintains that he did not look very happy with the answers he got, but she says that she can handle him, adding that it is over.
"Just give me five minutes"
“Just give me five minutes and I’ll be down for my shift.”
Kath tells her to leave it for tonight, but is angrily told not to make a fuss.
Cassie notice something he left behind
Suddenly, Cassie notices something left behind on the sofa;
. . . another cutting . . .
a smaller newspaper cutting with the words, ‘Mother Kills Son in Brutal Attack’,
. . . realising this is not the end of the matter
which does nothing to improve her mood.
