A taxi arrives in the village . . .

A taxi can be seen outside the Deri and we learn that Eleri is back;  

. . . and Eleri is back again

she looks disparagingly along the street before heading to Hywel’s house, 

She takes an instant dislike . . . 

noticing with disgust on the way 

. . . to the graffiti

the graffiti on the boarded-up shop.   

She goes straight to Hywel's house

She knocks on the door of number 21, but receives no answer, 

"Phone me back ASAP!"

so instead leaves a curt phone message for Hywel, “Phone me back ASAP!”

"We're not open yet"

Then she goes next door to the Deri;  when Kath hears the door open, she says that they are not open yet, 

"I don't want to buy anything"

so Eleri snarls, “I don’t want to buy anything.”

Kath is surprised to see her back;  

"I thought I'd surprise my dear stepmother"

“I thought I’d surprise my dear step-mother,” is the reply, “That’s what you are, as you haven’t done the divorce application yet.”   

"I've been busy"

Kath maintains that she has been busy, but is told, “It doesn’t take long to tick a few boxes and write your name – it only took Dad seconds.”

"He's enjoying life"

Eleri informs Kath that Brynmor is good and enjoying life;  “In fact, he asked me to come over – I just can’t understand why it’s taking you so long?”

"It takes time to discuss things"

Kath tells her that it takes time to discuss things with the solicitor.   “You made your decision quite clear when you refused to come to Italy with me,” says Eleri, 

"He's moved on, Kath – it's time for you to do the same"

“He’s moved on, Kath – it’s time for you to do the same.”

"But I didn't win, Colin"

In the MFC flat, Kylie is looking at a present which has been sent to her by Britt, but protests to Colin that she did not win.   

"You were ten times better than that 'Gog'!"

“Well, you were ten times better than the ‘Gog’ who came first!” he tells her, “You were robbed, guaranteed.”

"She watched online"

Kylie is glad that Britt watched the performance online all the way from Newcastle, 

"The adjudicator was a 'Gog' as well!"

but Colin points out that the adjudicator was a ‘Gog’ as well, which is not a coincidence – she had no chance.

"Does she ever mention me?"

Colin nervously enquires whether Britt ever mentions him when she is speaking to Kylie, who sadly shakes her head.   

"Why don't you try to phone her?"

“Why don’t you try to phone her?” she asks, “Perhaps she’s not as angry with you now,” 

"I don't think that's a good idea"

but Colin does not think that is a good idea.

"See you later, kiddo!"

Now he had better go or he will be late to the shop;  “See you later, kiddo!”

Eleri is going to find fault with everything

Eleri is investigating the quality of the fruit on the offer outside the shop when Jinx comes out of the deli opposite and notices her;  

"I didn't know you were home"

after a moment’s hesitation, he comes across the road.

“Welcome back – I didn’t know you were home,” he says;  

"Why would I tell you?"

she wonders why she would tell him.   

In answer to his question, she says that she has been in Italy and is not keen to tell him exactly where;  “In case an assault took place while I was there, so you could report me for it?” she sneers, 

"These tomatoes are disgusting!"

then describes the tomatoes as disgusting.

Colin is on his way to the shop and takes issue with her comment;  

"They're fresh – and organic!"

“No they’re not – they’re fresh!   They’re organic as well!”   She thinks that she will go shopping in town, maintaining that something about this village is ‘off’ – everyone and everything has a bitter taste.

"They're local – from Carmarthenshire"

Colin is outraged by her manner, pointing out to Jinx that they are local tomatoes, from Carmarthenshire.”   Jinx tells him not to worry, as he is sure that it is not his tomatoes that have really upset her.

"Sorry, I'm a bit late"

Then Colin goes into the shop, apologising to Lleucu that he is a bit late;  

"I might have to have a word with Eileen"

she replies, “I might have to have a word with Eileen,” which scares him for a moment, 

"Only joking, Col"

until she reveals that she is only joking.

She gets the impression that something is wrong;  

"Do you know when Britt will be back?"

“I’m sure it’s quiet in your house without Britt,” she says, “Do you know when she will be back?” 

"No – no idea"

but Colin does not know.

"I know how you feel"

“I know how you feel,” she goes on, “I’m missing Dad as well – the worst thing is not being able to talk to him – not knowing how he is feeling.   He hasn’t been in touch for a while now, so . . .”

"He might contact you when he's ready"

“You never know – he might contact you when he’s ready – or send something through the post,” Colin tries to encourage her, “Don’t give up, OK?   Your father is a strong man and he’s definitely in the right place.”

Lleucu hopes that he is right;  

"Why don't you go for your break?"

he suggests that she should go for a break and he will sort out the boxes;  “Anything to make sure you don’t complain about me to the boss!”

Hywel is sitting in the deli

Hywel is sitting at a table in the deli, waiting for Gwern to arrive, when his phone sounds and he discovers that it is a call from Eleri, 

So her surname is 'Beynon'

whose surname is Beynon, which does not appear to have has been mentioned before.

He looks up to see her coming in through the door;  

"I was starting to think you were avoiding me"

“I was starting to think you were avoiding me!” she growls.   He had not been expecting her back, but she explains, “I didn’t have much choice!”

"You've had weeks!"

She angrily puts down a copy of the Western Post on the table, demanding, “Do you have any idea how angry the board members are about this?   You’ve had weeks to try to get the community on board.”

"I'm doing my best"

He argues that he is doing his best, in fact that is why he is there now;  “What – drinking coffee?” she demands 

"I'm going to offer Gwern an apprenticeship"

and he says that he is meeting Gwern, in order to offer him an apprenticeship, which will be good PR for the company, offering opportunities to young people.

"This is starting to get embarrassing now . . ."

“Well, where is he, then?” Eleri wants to know.   “OK, this is starting to get embarrassing now – 

". . . you've got half an hour"

“you’ve got half an hour to get your stuff and come to the flat to tell me exactly what you’ve been doing while I’ve been away!”

Dani comes in . . .

She gets up and walks out, meeting Dani in the doorway who is coming 

. . . for a flat white with caramel syrup 

to ask for a flat white with, “That caramel syrup.”   

Who is this, looking at her?

An unknown man is walking past the deli, and notices Dani there, so comes in.

"It's Dan, isn't it?"

“It’s Dani, isn’t it?” he says and she looks at him in surprise, “I’ll get these coffees,” he goes on, taking out his phone.

Dani is disturbed at this and asks, “Do I know you?”

"I'm Harry – we've been talking"

“I’m Harry – we’ve been talking – I know we said we’d meet in the Deri, but I saw you through the window, so why don’t we have a coffee here instead?”

"You must be thinking of someone else"

“I’ve never seen you before – you must be thinking of someone else,” she tells him 

Hywel takes an interest

and by now Hywel is taking an interest in this.

Dani is pictured on an app

“But we’ve been talking,” Harry repeats, showing her the conversation on his phone on the dating app ‘@YNIAD’ [which does not seem to have an English translation]

Dani looks are horror

Dani looks with horror at the phone and Hywel springs to the rescue;  

"It's time for you to leave"

“Listen, I heard what she said and I think there’s been a misunderstanding – so it’s time for you to leave.”   Harry cannot understand what is going on, 

"I hope I haven't frightened you, Dani"

but hopes that he has not frightened Dani.   

He walks away, puzzled

Puzzled, he walks out of the door.

"You don't know anything about it?"

Hywel cannot believe that Dani knows nothing about it and asks what the man was showing her on his phone.   “A dating app and a chat we’ve had, apparently – I got this e-mail this morning saying I’d signed up to it – but I haven’t!”

"This has to be sorted out, Dani"

Hywel is adamant that this has to be sorted out, 

This is the stalking again

while Dani realises that this is yet another aspect of the stalking.

Lleucu in having lunch at home

At home in Y Felin, Lleucu is looking at her phone when there is a knock at the door and she finds Kylie outside;  

"Are you working with Colin int he shop?"

“Are you working with Colin in the shop today?” she asks.   Lleucu replies that she is on her lunch break and is going back after finishing her sandwich.

"He's not having an affair"

Kylie reports that Colin is not having an affair;  “We got it wrong.”   

"What about the chocolates and phone calls?"

Lleucu wonders where all the phone calls and the boxes of chocolates fit into this 

"He was going to visit an old friend"

and is told, “He was going to visit an old friend.”

Now Lleucu feels terrible after suspecting him;  

"We've destroyed his marriage"

“We’ve destroyed his marriage with Britt,” she groans, but Kylie believes that he is still hiding something.

"There are no new investors, then?"

Eleri is studying the figures on his laptop and comments to Hywel, “There are no new investors, then?”   He maintains that he has spoken to a lot of people and they all sound keen, but there are no decisions yet.

"This sounds like excuses to me"

“This sounds like excuses to me,” she snarls, “What have you been doing since I left, apart from turning everyone against us?”

"That's unfair!"

He regards that as an unfair accusation;  “I’ve been working hard to save the company’s good name,” 

"You can't even get Gwern Monk on board!"

but she reminds him that he cannot even get a teenager like Gwern Monk on board, so what chance does he have of securing a new investor?

"I'm not listening to this!

“I’m not listening to this!” he snaps, 

"Oh yes, you are!"

but she informs him that he has to do so, actually, as he is on probation.   He wonders when that was decided.

“When the board and I discussed your future – I’m going to keep a close eye on everything you do from now on – every decision, every idea, every e-mail has to go through me first.”

"I'm not a child"

He protests that he is not a child, 

"If you're not happy, then resign!"

so she advises him, “If you’re not happy, then resign.   This is your last chance.   You’ve got a week to think of a plan to get us out of this mess – good luck!”   

Hywel leaves Cysgod y Glyn 

She closes the laptop, then he picks it up, with the accompanying paperwork and walks out of the flat.

"Perhaps it is an old girlfriend"

Lleucu is trying to think of possible explanations;  “Perhaps this old friend is an old girlfriend – and that is why Britt is so unhappy.   Iolo used to live with Colin – I can ask him about his old girlfriends, if you want.”

"The friend is ill and in hospital"

Kylie summarises, “The only thing I know is that his friend is ill and in hospital.”   

Then 'the penny drops'

Lleucu quickly comes to the realisation that she knows of someone in exactly that situation.

"I want to apologise"

Now Jinx arrives at Cysgod Y Glyn to apologise to Eleri, as he did not get a chance to do so this morning.   

"Right, get on with it, then"

She sits down and invites him to get on with it;  “I just don’t want things to be awkward between us – it would be nice to be friends again.   

"Would you like to go for a drink tonight?"

“Would you like to go for a drink tonight?”

Eleri sneers at him, “Please tell me you’re not serious.”   He says that he is trying to show her how sorry he is.

"You can't stand the fact that someone doesn't like you!"

She is of the opinion that he is not sorry;  “You just can’t stand the fact that someone doesn’t like you!   You’re a little ‘people pleaser’ – you want everyone to think you’re a saint.   You were the same when people found out about the affair.”

"I don't like hurting people"

He protests that he does not like hurting people 

"Well, don't do it, then!"

she growls, “Don’t do it, then!”   He gives up and sadly walks out of the flat.

"Have you been going to see Dad?"

When Lleucu arrives back in the shop, she immediately asks Colin, “Have you been going to see Dad?   Don’t try and deny it.”

"Give me a chance to explain"

Colin would like a chance to explain, 

"You know how worried I've been"

but she goes on, “You know how worried I’ve been about him – I’ve been losing sleep, worried he’ll try and kill himself again – scared of waking up to the news that he wasn’t found in time!”

"That was exactly why I went"

Colin assures her that is exactly why he went;  “I was worried about you – and I felt guilty about the way our family has treated him”

"Why is he happy to see you and not me?"

“Then why is he happy to see you, but not me?” is her next question.   Colin says that it is sometimes easier to talk to someone who is not family, 

"He is getting better slowly"

but he assures her that he is getting better slowly, and he deeply regrets what happened in Cardiff.

"Is that why Britt's gone to Newcastle?"

“Is that why Britt’s gone to Newcastle?” Lleucu asks;  

"It's a difficult situation for everyone"

Colin stresses that it is a difficult situation for everyone – some of the things that she and Dani have done, but it is grief – and complicated.

A parcel is delivered to Dani . . .

Dani is at home in Maes-y-Deri with a box that has just been delivered;  she removes the rather inadequate Sellotape 

. . . containing cosmetics . . .

and finds inside various cosmetics 

. . . anda note . . .

and a card which reads, ‘“Thought you could do with this after the week you’ve had.   Much love, Rich x’.   

. . . which Dani finds very disturbing

Now she is feeling even more frightened.

"I'm sorry for not telling you"

Colin and Lleucu come out of the shop;  he apologises for not telling her and she reminds him that they are supposed to be friends.   

"Is he really getting better?"

“Is he really getting better?”

Colin confirms that he is, adding that he asks about his daughter all the time;  “He loves hearing about the fun that we have together – 

"And the way you boss me around!"

“and the way you boss me around!”   She is still angry with him, but also owes him some kind of thanks as well.

"I'm glad Dad is talking to someone"

Lleucu is glad that her father is talking to someone – even if it is not her.   “It hasn’t been easy for you, either, with Britt’s reaction.”   

"Britt will come round"

Colin simply replies that is what Britt is like;  she will come round, but just needs time to process everything

"Would you pass on a letter to Dad?"

Lleucu would like to write a letter to her father, asking if Colin would pass it on to him.   He would be pleased to do that and her father would be delighted;  she could also send him a box of chocolates or something.

"Well, to be honest, Lleucu . . ."

“Well – to be honest with you, I’ve been taking him a box every time,” Colin confesses, and she realises that her father is the chocoholic – not Colin’s fancy woman.

Colin says that last time Cai told him they will need a crane to get him out of there.   

"I shall have to put him on a diet!"

Lleucu decides she will have to put him on a diet when he comes home – whenever that is.   

"Just give him time"

She is advised to just give him time.

"No – make that a pint, Kath"

Jinx comes into the Deri, after his dismissal by Eleri, first asking for a bottle of beer, but then changing it to a pint.   

"You've had a similar day to me, then"

Hywel, by the bar, imagines that Jinx has had a similar day to him.   Kath maintains that there must be something in the water.

"Isn't it nice to see her back?"

“Did you know that Eleri is back?” groans Hywel;  the others did indeed know that, with Jinx unconvincingly commenting that it is nice to see her back.

"Yeah, isn't it just?"

“Yes, isn’t it just?” Hywel snarls as he leaves.

Lleucu is back at Y Felin . . .

Lleucu is back at Y Felin, where she finds a pen and paper, 

. . . and is about to start a letter . . .

sitting down to start a letter;  

. . . but after the first word . . .

however, when she has written the word ‘Dad’ she is at a loss to know what else to write 

. . . she is suffering from 'writer's block'

and appears to be in quite a state.

"I'm sorry for suspecting you"

In the Deri, Kylie is so sorry for the way she has suspected Colin, 

"Everything is sorted out between me and Lleucu"

but again he maintains that she has not done anything wrong and now everything is sorted out between him and Lleucu.   To celebrate, he says that she can choose whatever she wants – and a pudding.

"I want to buy you dinner – up to £20"

Kylie wants to buy him dinner to say thank you for everything;  “You can choose anything you want as long as it’s less than £20 – I don’t have any more than that.”

"How about we go and get a pizza?"

Colin suggests that they go and get a pizza, which is a bit cheaper, then they can watch a film or something;  Kylie would like that.

"I've got a present from a man I don't know"

Dani has gone to consult Hywel;  she tells him that she has just got a present from a man she does not know, 

"There must be something I can do"

showing him the card.   “There must be more I can do than just contact this app company!”

"Contact the police"

Hywel tells her to contact the police, but she says that she did that last week;  they just said they would look into it.   He is concerned about her and instructs her that if Mark is not back home tonight, 

"You should ring me – or the police"

she should ring him, or the police.   

Hywel finds this puzzling

As she leaves the house, he wonders what is going on.   

Dani is being watched . . .

We can see that as Dani comes out of the door of number 21, 

. . . as she looks anxiously around . . .

and looks anxiously around, she is being watched by someone from behind a bush outside APD, 

. . . and hurries back to Maes-y-Deri 

who is taking several photographs of her as she walks past the Deri.
