Indeg is sufferring from a hangover
Indeg comes downstairs, complaining to Lleucu, “My head’s pounding — I only went out for one, but I don’t remember coming home. Do you want a cup of tea?” She puts down her phone on the table and goes into the kitchen,
Lleucu sneaks a look at her phone . . .
so Lleucu takes the opportunity to try and look in Indeg’s phone,
. . . and locks it up
but after a couple of tries at the password manages to lock up the phone.
"What are you doing?"
“What are you doing?” squeals Indeg.
"Are you busy this weekend?"
As they walk past the deli, Ieuan asks Hywel if he is busy this weekend; “It’s a bit short notice and I don’t have anyone to look after Esther,” Hywel replies,
"We'll go for a pint later"
“We’ll go for a pint later and we can organise this trip properly.
"It's locked me out!"
At Y Felin, Indeg continues complaining, “It’s locked me out because you tried my password so many times.”
"Well, I haven't seen anything, then"
Lleucu maintains that it is clear that she has not seen anything in that case.
“That’s not the point – how am I going to cope? What were you looking for?
"If it's anything to do with Ows . . ."
“If it’s anything to do with Ows, get a grip!” Lleucu confirms that it is nothing to do with Ows; “Well, what is it, then?”
"Have you been trolling me?"
Lleucu asks her straight, “Have you been trolling me? I won’t say anything, I promise.”
"I would never do that!"
Indeg is horrified by the idea, and assures Lleucu that she would never do that.
"Tell me if you think I'm ugly!"
As Iolo comes into the house, Lleucu is demanding, “Tell me if you think I’m ugly!”
"What's going on?"
Iolo wants to know what is going on,
Lleucu rushes off
but Lleucu says that she is late for work and quickly leaves.
Iolo asks the same question of Indeg;
"She thinks I've been trolling her online"
“She thinks I’ve been trolling her online.”
"Well, have you?"
“Well, have you?” wonders Iolo,
Indeg goes upstairs
so she flounces off upstairs.
"You can't ignore me for ever"
At the farm, Howard is trying to phone Garry; “You can’t ignore me for ever – and I need that gun back, right?”
"Come on – help me with this"
Dorian is picking up a bale of hay and encourages Howard to do the same. Howard is still chuckling about his performance in the Deri,
"Half-naked and crying for your wife!"
“When you were half naked and crying for your wife!”
"You haven't touched a woman!"
He is told to, “Shut it! What would you know about wives? You haven’t touched a woman.”
"If you saw how stunning Dani is . . ."
Howard boasts, “I have – and if you saw how stunning Dani is, you’d still be crying!”
Dorian imagines that Howard said ‘Dani’
"You're swinging that way, are you?"
and comments, “So you’re swinging that way, are you – Danny boy?”
"Look at this damage"
Then Howard notices that the fence is sagging; “Look at this damage!”
"So you can pay less rent"
Dorian said that he did it, in order that Howard can ask to pay less rent, as there is damage on the farm.
“Listen, I want you to get this farm – you deserve it.” Howard is grateful for his so-called help,
"Eileen will guess you did it"
but asks him not to do any more, or Eileen will guess that he did it.
Dani is at MFC
Dani comes into MFC, wanting a chat with Britt;
"I've had this letter"
“I’ve had this letter – from the family of this girl, Scarlet. She’s received a valve from Seren’s heart – it was a transplant and they want to say thank you.”
"I've been reading it over and over for days"
Britt asks if it came today, but is told that Dani has been reading it over and over for days now.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
“Why didn’t you tell me before now?”
Dani explains. that she needed time; “On the one hand it’s amazing, but, she’s not my daughter, is she?”
The next question is whether Garry has read it; “He has to know, love.”
"Garry refused to read it"
Dani replies that Garry has refused to read it, but Gwern has read it and thinks that it is comforting.
"I want it out of my hands for a bit"
Dani is more than happy for Britt to have the letter; “I want it out of my hands for a bit.” Britt confirms that they are all of them going through this with her and they are here to help.
"I don't know if I should answer"
“I’m just obsessing about whether I should answer it or not,” says Dani.
"We'll meet in the Deri later."
She is advised to take her time; Britt suggests that they meet in the Deri later and decide together and Dani agrees.
Lleucu is engrossed
Lleucu is now at the shop and is reading “Fierce Beauty’ magazine when Eileen comes in;
"Why were you late today?"
“Why were you late today?” she demands and Lleucu points out it was only ten minutes.
"You're expected to be on time"
“But you’re expected to be on time – I have to keep an eye on Tamed and we’re one person down.”
As Lleucu does not seem to be treating this with sufficient gravity,
"I don't appreciate your attitude!"
Eileen instructs her, “Look at me – I don’t appreciate your attitude!”
"Ditto"
Lleucu snaps, “Yeah, well, ditto. Why can’t you leave me alone?” Eileen reminds her that she is paying her wages.
Lleucu puts down the magazine, snarls, “Stuff this! There are better ways of getting money than you bossing me around!”
"Stuff this shop and stuff you!"
She picks up her bag and is on her way out of the shop when Eileen tries to protest, but is told, in no uncertain terms, “I mean it – stuff this shop and stuff you!”
Eileen appears to be speechless
Eileen was certainly not expecting that.
"Fancy a drink later?"
At Cysgod y Glyn, Garry has brought Eleri some breakfast; “Do you fancy a drink later?” he asks.
"I don't want to"
She thank him for the offer but does not want to.
"You haven't really lost `Jinx"
“Look, you haven’t really lost Jinx, have you? He’s not dead.
"He's crying with his mother"
“He’s probably up in Bethesda, crying with his mother.”
"We're the same, you and me"
Eleri considers, “We’re the same, you and me – thinking that feelings make us weak, but we’re scared, I think.”
"Jinx must be good in bed"
His reaction is that Jinx must be good in bed –
There is a hint of a smile
and this raises the hint of a smile on Eleri’s face.
"I prefer to be proactive"
“I prefer to be proactive, you know, rather than moping around the place,” suggests Garry,
"But you're refusing treatment'
but she does not believe that, reminding him that he is refusing treatment and that is not proactive.
"Get off that sofa and put on something proper"
“Thank heavens I’m a fit enough to sort Kyle out, rather than being in hospital having chemo. You need to get off that sofa, put on something proper and come to the Deri for a drink. The world doesn’t stop just because you’ve been dumped.” She appears to think that he may have a point there.
"I can't have staff with an attitude"
In the shop, Eileen is telling Siôn, “I know she’s family, but I can’t have staff on their phones all the time – or late – or with an attitude.”
Siôn closes the shop
Siôn closes the shop door and turns round the sign to read ‘closed’.
"She had no right"
“She had no right to talk to you like that – and you were generous in giving her a job,” he agrees.
"Greta was covered in make-up"
Eileen maintains that Indeg is a bad influence on her; “She came in here the other day with Greta, who looked like a teenager, covered in make-up!”
"Perhaps Lleucu can live with us for a while"
Siôn concurs that she is too young for that, and imagines that perhaps Y Felin is not the best place for Lleucu. He will have a word with Iolo; “Perhaps Lleucu can live with us for a while.” This is obviously not the outcome for which Eileen was hoping.
Greta is home . . .
Iolo, who is carrying a letter from school, brings home Greta and she runs into the house,
. . . and very eager to get to 'Indi'
shouting, “Indi!” It is suggested that she puts on her pyjamas
"I'll plait your hair . . ."
and Indeg will plait her hair, which she welcomes. As Greta runs upstairs, Indeg adds to Iolo, “If that’s all right with you –
". . . even though you think I'm a monster"
“even though you think I’m a monster.”
"I'm just looking out for Lleucu"
Iolo explains that he is just looking out for Lleucu.
"This troll has got into her head"
“Yeah, me too – this troll has got into her head – it’s horrible. She’s in her room – she won’t talk to me.”
"You've hurt her in the past – and Siwsi"
Iolo says that he is just trying to be careful because Indeg has hurt her in the past – “And Siwsi.” Indeg insists that it was not on purpose and she knows that she has made mistakes, but she would never go out of her way to hurt anyone – honestly.
"I've reported the troll's profile"
“Actually, I’ve reported the troll’s profile.” There is a loud cry from upstairs, “Indi!”
"Coming!"
and Iolo tells Indeg to go up.
Iolo opens the letter
Iolo sits down at the table to open the letter from the school
Eileen and Siôn arrive
and the door opens, as Eileen and Siôn come in.
"These girls are out of control!"
Eileen gets straight to the point, “What’s going on in this house? These girls are out of control.”
Siôn intervenes to point out that they are not there to lose their tempers, but because they are worried.
Siôn notices the door
Then he happens to turn around,
"Why is my door pink?"
and demands angrily, “Why is my door pink?”
"I've found a brilliant fishing boat"
At the bar in the Deri, Ieuan informs Hywel that he has found a brilliant fishing boat, which even has a mini fridge on board. However, Hywel replies that it is inconvenient this weekend; “We’ll go on the boat another time.
"Are you going to see Anita?"
“Are you going to see Anita?”
Ieuan maintains that he will go later,
"When was the last time you saw her?"
so is asked when he last saw Anita. “Why do you want to know that?” Ieuan demands, so Hywel reminds him that she is his wife.
"Diane's been gossiping again, has she?"
“Diane’s been gossiping, has she?”
"We're worried about you?"
Hywel says she is understandably worried about him – they both are.
"Another whisky, please"
Ieuan’s response to this is to order another whisky;
"I don't want to go to Brynawelon any more!"
“You don’t need to worry about me, right? I don’t want to go to Brynawelon any more – and that’s the end of it! Are you going to have a drink? I haven’t come here for a lecture –
"Just go home!"
“just go home!”
Hywel thinks it may be wise to do as instructed.
Dani joins Britt
Dani joins Britt in the Deri,
"I think you should reply"
who tells her, “I think it’s quite lovely – it’s totally up to you, of course, but I think you should reply.”
"You're probably right"
Dani realises that she is probably right.
"It's obvious Lleucu hasn't settled"
Around the table at Y Felin, Siôn says that it is obvious that Lleucu has not settled since Cai left. Iolo points out that it has been a huge change for her, then Eileen pipes up, “Yes, but that doesn’t mean she could take it out on everyone else.”
"Does she still have a job?"
Iolo is sure that she is sorry about that and wonders if she still has a job;
"Of course – she's family"
Eileen replies that of course she does, as she is family.
Tolerant? Eileen? —pull the other one
“But only because Eileen's so tolerant,” says Siôn.
"Lleucu's an adult now"
Iolo reminds them, “Lleucu’s an adult now – we can’t tell her where to live – it’s up to her.” Siôn points out that she has no qualifications and that she cheated during an exam;
"She needs a stable home"
now she needs a stable home to continue with her education.
"And you think I can't provide that?"
“And you think I can’t provide that?” demands Iolo, “Because Greta is being raised here, too.
"Is it not good enough for Greta either?"
“Are you saying that isn’t good enough for Greta, either?” Neither Siôn nor Eileen answer.
Dorian is playing darts again
Dorian is playing darts in the Deri again, then announces, “The `Virgin’s arrived!”
"Don't make a fool of yourself"
Howard advises him not to make a fool of himself,
"Take that cork out of your backside"
but is rather crudely told, “Take that cork out of your backside, will you?” then maintain that it is Howard’s round next.
"I'm scared I'll get depressed again"
Dani confesses to Britt, “I’m scared I’ll get depressed again if I answer,”
"It may make you feel closer to Seren"
but Britt predicts that it may make her feel closer to Seren.
"But she isn't Seren, is she?"
“But she isn’t Seren, is she? I just feel like they’re rubbing my nose in the fact that she’s alive.”
"They just want to thank her"
Britt insists that is not the intention, but they just want to thank Seren.
"Do I want to do it?"
“Do I want to do it? Or is it because that’s what I think is the right thing?” Dani debates.
"I'll support you 100%"
As she hands back the letter to Dani, Britt tells her, “Whatever you decide, I’ll support you 100% – and thank you for including me. I know it’s your decision and your decision alone, but Seren was important to us all, wasn’t she?”
Garry has managed to get Eleri off the sofa
At that moment, Garry and Eleri are coming into the Deri. He walks across to Dani;
"You've read it, then?"
“You’ve read it, then?” She replies in the affirmative, adding that she does not regret it.
Dorian is still getting on Howard's nerves
At the bar, Dorian suggests that Howard might as well have a virgin cocktail, seeing that he is such a virgin. Howard has had enough of this, telling Dorian that there is something wrong with him.
"Tell him I'm not a virgin!"
He calls to Dani, “Hey, Dani, tell him that I’m not a virgin!”
She looks at him, horrified,
"You know – we slept together"
as he goes on, “You know, we slept together.”
"How desperate were you to go with him?"
Dorian laughs, “You and Dani? How desperate were you to go with him?”
"Pretty desperate"
Dani explains that her daughter had just died, so she was pretty desperate.
Garry was unaware of that
Garry is looking at Howard with intense hatred.
"Perhaps they're too mature for her"
Siôn goes on to suggest, “Perhaps Siwsi’s and Indeg’s way of life is too mature for her.’
"It's fun – they have a laugh!"
“It’s fun – they have a laugh!” shouts Iolo, but Eileen insists that they need to be serious sometimes,
"Life is not pink and fluffy"
as life is not pink and fluffy all the time.
Greta is coming down
Meanwhile Indeg and Greta are coming downstairs;
"I don't want to cause problems – I'll go"
“Can I just say I really don’t want to create problems. Honestly I’ve never felt like part of a family as much as I do here – but Lleucu shouldn’t leave – I’ll go!”
"No!"
Greta objects to this most vehemently, “No!”
"Hang on for a moment"
Iolo wants them all to hang on for a moment and picks up the letter from the school which was delivered in the post this morning.
He reads the school report
“Greta’s a happy child whose self-confidence has grown significantly. We love hearing about her home life with Auntie Indi, Lleucu and Siwsi. We are proud of her and her development.”
"Well done, Greta, love"
“Well done, Greta, love,” says Siôn
"Our life might not be conventional"
and Iolo acknowledges that his life may not be as not as conventional as his father wants it to be, but it works.
Of course, Eileen has to put her spoke in;
"Does that mean she can shout at people?"
“But does that mean we’re allowing Lleucu to go around the place shouting at everyone?”
"It's support and fun she needs right now"
Iolo promises that he will talk to her when she comes downstairs; “It’s support and fun she needs right now, not a telling off.”
“It’s obvious that you know best,” agree Siôn,
"I want that door back to what it was"
but he adds, with a note of reprimand, “I want that door back to what it was.”
Lleucu is looking for . . .
Upstairs, Lleucu is lying on her bed looking at the laptop and music is playing;
. . . ways of making money
she is searching the internet for, ‘How to make money.”
"Why didn't you tell me about the letter?"
In the Deri Britt asks Garry, “Why didn't you tell me about the letter?” He maintains that it is none of her business. Eleri comes back with two drinks, rather pointedly commenting that she did not know that Britt was staying, so Britt will go and sort herself out one.
"I hope this isn't a date"
Before she goes, Britt remarks, “I hope this isn’t a date, now that Jinx has packed up and gone.”
"I'll be asking you to kill me next!"
Eleri moans, “She’s not going to stay all night, is she? Or I’ll be asking you to kill me next!”
"I'm glad to see the soft Eleri has gone"
He laughs that he is glad to see the soft Eleri has gone
"The thought of Kyle rotting away"
and she goes on, “The only thing that keeps me going is the idea of Kyle rotting away. Was he scared when you . . ?” Garry replies that he was.
Britt has been given the wrong drink . . .
Then Britt comes back, wondering what is the big secret, to find that she has been given tonic rather than lemonade.
. . . so Garry goes across to the bar
Garry goes over to the bar, while Britt continues,
"I wish he'd share more"
“I wish he’d share more with me – he used to share all his secrets when he was little, but he won’t say anything now.”
Eleri says nothing
Eleri remains silent, so Britt continues, “He is all right, isn’t he?”
"I need that gun back"
At the bar, Howard complains that he has been trying to phone Garry; “I need that gun back – you’ve had it for a week,” but is told to shut it, as they are not talking about it there. “Well, answer the phone, then!” snarls Howard.
Dorian is getting Garry's back up
Dorian comes back from the gents and barges into Garry, who demands who he is. “Just wait in the queue instead of harassing my cousin!” exclaims Dorian.
"Like you were harassing Dani?"
“Like you were harassing Dani?” Garry growls; Dorian demands what has that got to do with him and a fight ensues,
Poor old Ieuan is knocked flying
with Ieuan being knocked flying from his seat by the bar. Now it is Garry’s turn and they exchange punches.
Howard tries to restrain Dorian
Howard tries to drag his cousin away,
Garry appears to be in trouble . . .
but not before he lands another couple of punches,
. . . so Britt lends a hand
and Britt sets about Dorian with her handbag.
Garry is on the floor . . .
As a result, Garry collapses to the floor.
. . . with Dorian about to literally 'put the boot in'
Dorian is about to put the boot in,
"Stop – he's got cancer!"
when Eleri screams at him to stop; “He’s got cancer!”
The Deri goes completely quiet
which comes as a great shock to Britt and, indeed, everyone else.
