Sioned shakes her head in disbelief and goes upstairs to the twins.

Lleucu arrives at the Deri, where Dani is waiting for her; “I’m ready for my first day of work experience,” says Lleucu, “Scrubbing and polishing! Where do you want me to start?”
Dani remarks on her new top, which Lleucu dismisses as, “Just some old thing,”

and she is handed a tabard to put on, just in case. “Cool – I’m starting to feel the part,” Lleucu giggles.

Eileen has tidied up the place |
At Penrhewl, Eileen has already tidied the place up and Sioned suspects there is a problem with the baby monitor,

blaming her mother for doing something to it. “Are they both asleep upstairs now?” Eileen asks and is told that only Jac is there, so Eileen wants to know where Lili is.

At that moment, Howard returns and announces, “She’s fast asleep!” Sioned explains that he took her out for a walk, as usually she settles better for him.”

“Does she now?” growls Eileen.
Howard imagines that it will now be a waffle each, as usual and Sioned will make the coffee, informing her mother that they have a routine now. Matthew usually makes the coffee and Howard makes waffles for them.

When Howard invites Eileen to join them, she decisively refuses,

"I'm surprised you've got time!" |
adding, “I’m surprised you’ve got time to play nanny and chef. Cae Top’s [Top Field] fences look a mess and it’s a miracle the cows are still alive, with so little silage.”

Howard says that suddenly he is not hungry, simply picking up an apple and leaving the farmhouse.

Sioned is furious with her mother; “Did you have to?”

"Carrying on with two men under one roof!" |
Eileen could ask her the same question; “Carrying on with two men under one roof – it’s like a commune!” She is told that the three of them understand each other.

“Oh, do you? Well, people will talk.

"You look like you need a bath!" |
“Why don’t you go for a bath? You look like you need one!”

"I don't know if I can afford the hot water" |
“Because I don’t know if I can afford the hot water any more,” is Sioned’s angry reply, so is told to have a quick wash with a damp cloth, in that case. Eileen is in a bad mood, as usual.

Lleucu takes down the picture from the wall |
In the Deri, the cleaners have reached the bar and Lleucu takes down the picture from behind the bar to clean it. (It is obvious that something is going to happen to it.)

She is full of enthusiasm |
“I love it – I’m hooked!” Lleucu tells Dani, “This guy Jack, who talks like this – ‘I said you can have your own opinion’ – basically Lauren had enough of his nonsense – you would have laughed!”

Dani warns her to be careful with that picture; “Less talking about dating programmes, more work,” she advises.
“Sorry, Nain Val always said I was a chatterbox” says Lleucu, “But she got fed up in the end and . . .”

At this point, as she was about to rehang the picture, it slips from her hands and ends up on the floor with the glass shattered.

This horrifies Dani and Lleucu is so sorry, confessing that she got too excited.

DJ marches into the farmhouse, where he is surprised to find Eileen, who is at present putting the kettle into a box.

“I thought you were living in the village,” he remarks, but she is at the farm picking up a few things.
“To be honest, I’m glad I’ve got a chance to have a word with you –

"Mathew and Howard have moved in" |
“were you aware that Mathew and Howard have moved in?” It is obvious that he had not heard, so she continues, “Sioned said that ‘they understand each other’. They’re helping with the cooking, the cleaning – and raising the children.”

DJ says that is why he is there – he saw Howard with Lili this morning. Eileen insists, “The children need a normal upbringing – not men coming and going and confusion over who the father is.

In the Deri, Dani takes a swig from her water bottle while Lleucu carefully bundles up the broken glass.

She insists that she will pay for a new one and feels terrible about it, but Dani simply dismisses it as a picture frame.

"I'm such a liability!" |
“I’m such a liability!” Lleucu wails.
Dani cautions her not to pick up anything breakable when she is excited;

“Do you want a drink to cheer you up?” and then realises that Lleucu is under-age, but is told that Lleucu drinks at home. However, she just points out that they are supposed to be working.
“Don’t worry about that – what do you want, flower?”

Lleucu selects two large vodka and lemonades; Dani sets about getting them.

"I'm telling him about the sleeping arrangements" |
When Sioned comes downstairs she asks DJ what he is doing there; “I’m telling him about the sleeping arrangements,” interrupts her mother.

Sioned suddenly realises that the kettle and the blender are not in their usual places.
“They’re in my car – I bought them, so it’s only right I use them,” Eileen snarls.

Sioned demands whether she wants to take the boiler as well – and the sink.

"If you and your guests want to invest . . ." |
“If you and your guests want to invest in your own appliances, crack on – but these are mine,” explains Eileen.

“You’re punishing me because Mathew and Howard live here,” but her mother maintains that it is not a healthy situation for two children.

"Are you just going to stand there?" |
Sioned turns to DJ, who has been keeping out of the argument up to now, and asks him, “Are you just going to stand there?”

"I don't want to interfere" |
but he says he does not want to interfere.

"You just want to make life difficult for me!" |
“You just want to make life difficult for me, don’t you?” rages Sioned; her mother argues that she deserves some thanks for tidying up. She will now leave them to it,

on her way mentioning that Sioned will need her own Netflix account as well.
When she has gone, DJ confirms that he does agree with Eileen about Mathew and Howard;

He insists that it is his livelihood, but she is inclined to think it is his priority. “You didn’t give me much choice did you?” he moans, “Howard and Mathew are out by the end of the week!”

Sioned makes it very clear that she has no intention whatsoever of doing that, so he maintains that gives him no choice;

As they continue drinking at the bar, Dani asks, “So they didn’t actually know each other when they got married? That’s bonkers!” Lleucu asks if she has been married before and Dani lists, “Garry –

“and I was married to Mark for a while as well.” Lleucu imagines that she must have been going through midlife crisis, but Danny insists that she is too young for that, as they continue drinking.

before cryptically saying that ‘a woman’s heart is an ocean of secrets’ which Lleucu recognises as a quotation from Titanic. Dani maintains that is how tragic it was.
Lleucu wonders what they are going to do next;

She helps herself to a bottle of vodka |
and she fishes out a bottle of vodka from under the bar. “Shall we take it with us?”

Sioned is sitting glumly on the sofa when Howard comes into the room;

He is told that Mam owns everything and he exclaims, “She’s even taken the juicer! No smoothies – and no cups of tea!” Sioned adds that there is no Netflix, either.

He finds this unacceptable; “What are we going to do tonight?” he shouts, “Play cards, or what?”

He can see something else is troubling her |
Then he notices that Sioned is looking particularly downcast and wonders if there is anything else.
“Sorry – today has been awful – DJ’s threatened to take Jac and Lili away from me,” she explains.

Howard cannot understand who DJ thinks he is; “You’re with them day and night!” he stresses and this gives SD an idea.

Howard protests that they cannot just leave, because they are still lambing.
“Just say if you don’t want to come,” she tells him, but he is keen to come with her, pointing out that they need someone there.

The cleaners have retired to Maes-y-Deri, where they seem to be getting through the purloined vodka bottle; “You still haven’t told me about your marriage to Mark,” Lleucu reminds Dani, but she replies that Lleucu really does not want to know.

“OK, it was a silly idea to make some money – and, obviously, we got caught!” she admits, “The story of my life – every time I want to make money, I just mess it up!” Lleucu admits that she did not help with that picture today, for which she is sorry.

He emphasises that he contributes. Shaking her head, she tells him, “You have no idea – nappies cost money, formula cost money – vests, ‘babygros’, bibs, the lot! It’s never-ending, DJ – and now they grow out of everything so quickly!

“Yes – they’re with him tonight, so I can have a day off, for once,” she sighs. He advises her to make it a night to remember and introduces himself as Ioan.

Ioan maintains that he has a right to see his son; “Not after how you treated her!” Howard snarls.

Then he turns to Sioned to inform her, “Sorry to break it to you, love, but this one has no idea about women.”

Howard has had enough of this and stands up to confront Ioan, who taunts him, “What are you going to do?”

At Bryntirion, DJ has managed to get the twins asleep and now everything is quiet; he takes out his phone and dials a number. “All right? Listen, I want to ask, as the Tremyrddin festival went well last week . . . erm . . . have you got more work?”

Ioan is leaning on the bar and replies that there is always work. Howard and Sioned get up and leave, as he continues, “I’ll phone you tomorrow – nice to hear from you.”
