Gaynor awakens . . .

What happened after the close of the previous episode is left to our imagination, but next morning the alarm sounds at 7:55 and Gaynor awakens, but looks awkwardly around.   

. . . and then so does Mark

Then we see Mark, who sits up rather abruptly and with some confusion;  he wishes her, “Good morning.”   She simply groans.

"Do you think she's been to the police?"

At Bryntirion, where they have just got up, including Ifan, Kelly asks, “Do you think she’s been to the cops?”   Jason replies, without much conviction, that his mother is hardly likely to shop her own son to the cops.   In any case he adds that has not done anything.

"You don't need to be a detective . . ."

“She was home late last night – she’s not here this morning – you don’t need to be a detective to know she’s up to something,” Kelly continues.   

Diane has been shopping

The back door opens and Diane returns with a packet of cereal for Ifan, 

"Sometimes adults don't make the right decisions"

maintaining that sometimes adults don’t make the right choices.

"Crikey!   The headteacher and the caretaker!"

Gaynor is now dressed and is looking gloomily into the mirror;  we see the reflection of Mark, who comments, “Crikey!   The headteacher and the caretaker – it’s like a story from one of Mam’s ‘rom-coms’.”

She throws him his clothes

She wonders if he needs to be anywhere and he agrees that he does, but it is rather difficult for him at the moment.   Gaynor throws a pile of clothes at him 

"Don't you dare tell anyone about this!"

and warns, “Listen, don’t you dare tell anyone about this – right?”

He replies that it was the wine’s fault and then they hear the sound of loud music from downstairs;  Gaynor insists that he has to go now, 

"I don't fancy making a Spiderman exit"

but he insists, “I don’t fancy making a Spiderman exit through the window – because I’m too old!”   Gaynor looks around for her socks.

Gaynor creeps downstairs

In the kitchen, Cheryl is doing some washing up 

"You look happy this morning"

and remarks that Gaynor looks happy this morning.   

Mark waits for the signal . . . 

Mark creeps down the stairs 

. . . which Gaynor gives . . .

and is given the signal by Gaynor that it is safe for him to escape.   Cheryl hopes that she did not disturb her last night 

. . . and he quietly escapes . . .

and now that Mark has gone, 

. . . much to Gaynor's relief

Gaynor breathes a sigh of relief.

Diane is thinking

Diane is deep in thought and tells Kelly that she is not all right;  “This Rohypnol business,” 

"Do you still think Jason is guilty?"

and Kelly enquires whether she still thinks that Jason is guilty.

"No, not Jason"

No, not Jason,” is the reply 

"What has changed your mind?"

and Kelly wonders what has changed her mind;  she still has a few jobs to do and then will have a shower.

“I’d like you to come with me to the Deri,” Diane goes on, 

"Early for a drink, isn't it?"

and Kelly thinks that it may be slightly early for a drink.   

"Cassie has an interesting theory"

She is told that Cassie has an interesting theory about who has been using the Rohypnol;  

"Yeah, OK, then"

Kelly has little choice but to agree.

"Make sure you brush your teeth!"

Dani is shouting upstairs to Seren to make sure that she brushes her teeth when the front door of number 7 opens and Mark comes in, rather sheepishly.   

"Walk of shame, is it?"

She looks knowingly at him as he asks whether there is any coffee;  “Walk of shame, is it?” she comments, “So where did you sleep?   

"Or perhaps you didn't sleep at all!"

“Or perhaps you didn’t sleep at all!”

He maintains that he slept well;  “So Cheryl doesn’t snore then?” Dani taunts him.   

"Isn't Seren going to be late for school?"

He changes the subject, suggesting that it is high time Seren went to school, then settles down on the sofa.   

"Nice socks, Mark!"

Dani immediately notices the socks he is wearing;  “Nice socks,” she observes and he realises his mistake.

Cheryl is on her way to the Deri

Cheryl is on her way along the High Street to the Deri when she is accosted by Howard;  

"What do you want?"

“What do you want?” she demands, 

"How are you after the other night?"

and he asks how she is after the other night.   “Just leave me alone!” she snarls, “You were responsible – that’s what everyone says.   

"Stay away from me, you creep!"

“Stay away from me, you creep!”

Gaynor's mind is not on the job

In the pharmacy, Gaynor hands the wrong prescription to a customer, 

"Sorry – this is the right one"

then apologises for the mistake.   The customer wants some lozenges, and Gaynor manages to drop them on the floor.

Maya is watching

Maya is watching all of this and when the customer has left, she asks if everything is OK.   At first Gaynor maintains that she is great, but Maya knows better than that.   

"I've done something really, really stupid!"

In tears, Gaynor confesses, “I’ve done something really, really stupid!”

"It was me who put pressure on Mark"

Dani comes into the Deri to talk to Cheryl;  “I just wanted to say it was me who put pressure on Mark to do the whole thing with balloons and stuff, so I’m really sorry.”   

"That's fine"

Cheryl replies that is fine and says she had a late night last night.

"You know, he's a good man . . ."

“You know, he’s a good man – Mark – he’s funny, he’s honest,” Dani goes on, 

". . . I wouldn't live with him if he wasn't lovely"

“And I wouldn’t live with him if he wasn’t lovely – and he really is!”   Cheryl thanks her for the recommendation, but regrets that they have no milk for a latté.   

"Could you keep an eye on the bar?"

If Dani will mind the bar for a couple of minutes, she will go to the shop for some.

"I'm never so irresponsible!"

Gaynor points out to Maya, “I’m not normally like this – this isn’t me – I’m never so irresponsible!   It was just a stupid, drunken one-night-stand.”   

"She we go to the consultation room?"

Maya suggests that they go into the consultation room, where it is more private, 

Then Cheryl comes in

but at that moment Cheryl comes in, and Gaynor looks very uncomfortable.

Cheryl just needs to know something;  

"Mark Jones – is he a 'good one'?"

“Mark Jones – is he a ‘good one’?”   Gaynor does not know what to make of this and wonders how she is supposed to know.   “You’ve known him longer than I have – can I trust him?   Is he a good guy?”   

Gaynor agrees that he is

Gaynor confirms that he is, and after learning this, Cheryl leaves the shop.

Cassie is waiting

In the Deri flat, Cassie welcomes Diane and Kelly;  

"All right, Cas?"

they are invited to take a seat, 

"It was Howard, wasn't it?"

and Kelly concludes, “It was Howard, was it?   You don’t have to protect me – I appreciate you telling me after what he did to me, but, seriously, I’m not surprised.”

"It isn't Jason, we know that"

Diane, who has remain silent until now, speaks up;  “After having a word with Cassie, it’s obvious who it was – and it wasn’t Jason, we know that.”

"Who was it, then?"

“Who was it, then?” asks Kelly.

"It was you, Kelly!"

Cassie answers, “It was you, Kelly!”

"Hold your horses, Miss Marple!"

Kelly looks very surprised;  “OK, hold your horses, Miss Marple – me?”   Diane stresses that they know it was her.   “I think you’re playing a game of Cwmderi Cluedo here!” Kelly laughs.

"You were in the bar that night"

Cassie points out that she was in the bar the night Rhys passed out in the hot tub;  

"As were a lot of other people"

Kelly replies that a lot of other people were there, too.   

"You were trying to 'spike' Howard's drink"

“You were trying to ‘spike’ Howard’s drink, weren’t you?” demands Diane.

"What are you on about?"

“What are you on about, Diane?” Kelly asks and Cassie adds that she was in the bar the night of the murder mystery.   Kelly exclaims that they must be watching too many murder mysteries on the telly.

“We think you tried to ‘spike’ Howard’s drink twice,” says Diane.

"You're off your heads!"

Kelly squeals that they are off their heads;  “Right, OK – where would I get Rohypnol?” she demands.  Cassie comments that everything is available online.   “Oh, there we are then – perhaps it was you, Cas!   It’s easy peasy to pop pills into drinks when you’re serving them.”

"And why would I possibly do that?"

Cassie wonders why she would possibly do that, while Kelly wants to know why she would possibly do that.   Diane suggests that she was getting back at Howard;  

"I wouldn't go within six feet of that creep!"

“I wouldn’t go within six feet of that creep, OK?” Kelly snarls.

“I saw your face when you saw him at the murder mystery,” adds Cassie, and Kelly agrees that she hates Howard, but it does not mean she would ‘spike’ him.

"I was absolutely fuming!"

“I wasn’t angry – I was absolutely fuming – and do you know what?   I’m absolutely fuming now, too, truth be told!”

Kelly leaps out of her seat

Cassie appreciates that she is frightened of him and Kelly jumps up from her seat, 

"I'm not frightened of him!"

screaming that she is not frightened of him.   Cassie understands why she wants revenge, but argues that the only person being punished here is Kelly herself.   She wonders whether it is worth it.

"You might as well tell the truth, Kelly"

“You might as well tell the truth, Kelly,” says Diane, 

"Carrying all this hate will do you no good"

and Cassie points out that carrying all this hate around will do her no good at all.   “I know why you did it – honestly,” says Diane, “He had no right to frighten you.” 

"I'm not frightened of him!"

Kelly is still adamant that she is not frightened of him;  

"I wanted him to feel weak and powerless"

“But I’m not going to let anyone threatening me and be in my face – like Rhodri was after . . .   after what he did – and what could happen again – so, yeah, I wanted him to feel weak, I wanted him to feel powerless, exactly the way he made me feel!   And it’s spiralled out of control – and I feel awful!”

"I haven't told Jason"

In tears, she admits that she has not told Jason.   “Don’t you think you’ve hidden enough from him, love?” Diane suggests.   Kelly is in floods of tears of shame, but is assured that she does not have to worry about the two of them, as they have agreed to keep quiet.

"Dani was 'bigging you up' earlier"

Mark and Cheryl are working in close proximity at the Deri;  “Dani was ‘bigging you up’ earlier,” she says, and Mark imagines that she wants him to look after the children.   

"She said you were funny and honest"

“She said you were funny and honest,” Cheryl continues 

"Even Gaynor said you were a good one"

as he struggles with a packet of crisps.   “Even Gaynor said you were a good one.”   

All his crisps are now on the floor

At the mention of Gaynor, he sends the crisps flying, all over the floor.   “Mam will be on my back now for eating all the stock again,” he moans.

"So this is where Cwmderi's gossip girl lives"

Jason is playing with Ifan on the floor in Bryntirion when the back door opens and Howard walks in;  “Whoa – what are you doing?” Jason demands.

“So this is where Cwmderi’s gossip girl lives,” says Howard, “You’ve got a posh house.   I want a little chat.”   Jason informs him that they have nothing to talk about, so he can leave.   

"You've got a JCB, have you?"

Meanwhile Howard is talking to Ifan about his toys, 

"Let's go upstairs to watch some cartoons"

so Jason picks him up and takes him upstairs to watch some cartoons.

“Dadi has to talk to this man,” he tells Ifan 

"Don't touch anything!"

and warns Howard not to touch anything.

Mark is on his hands and knees . . .

Mark is crawling around on the floor and has managed to retrieve all the crisps;  

. . . the n Cheryl asks a question 

he is still on his knees 

"Fancy going on a date with me?"

when Cheryl asks him, “Do you fancy going on a date with me?” which comes as quite a surprise.   

Mark is now more optimistic

He replies that would be great and believes that things are now looking up.

"Stop spreading rumours about me"

Jason comes back downstairs and confronts Howard, who tells him, “Stop spreading rumours about me ‘spiking’ people!”   When Jason insists that it is nothing to do with him, 

"It's probably your gobby wife, then"

Howard assumes, “It’s probably your gobby wife, then!”

"You don't even get to talk about Kelly!"

Jason makes it clear to him, “You don’t get to even talk about Kelly!” and at that moment Diane and Kelly come in.   Howard snarls at Jason to stop talking about him and Diane demands to know what he is doing there.

"There she is – gossip girl!"

“There she is – gossip girl!” sneers Howard, and Jason points out that Howard is worried because they are near the truth.   “You two need to stop talking about me – right?” says Howard.

"This psychopath is behind it!"

“It’s pretty obvious that this psychopath is behind it . . .” Jason begins, but Diane wants to know where Ifan is.   

"Jason – he's not worth it!"

Kelly is adamant that Howard is not worth it, 

"No, Jason!"

and urges Jason to stop.   “I’m not frightened of him – only cowards use Rohypnol!” Jason continues, 

"You have to stop!"

but Kelly is adamant that he has to stop.

"You – keep your mouth shut!"

Before Howard leaves the house, he cautions Kelly, “I’m warning you now – keep your mouth shut!”

"You don't have an ounce of control over me – right?"

Kelly demands what happens if she does not;  “What are you going to do?   You know what?   You don’t have an ounce of control over me – right?”   

Howard makes his exit

Now Howard leaves the house.

“It was him, I’m telling you now!” Jason exclaims.

"It was my Rohypnol"

Then Kelly advises him, “It was my Rohypnol.”   He is speechless as she continues, “I tried to ‘spike’ Howard’s drink, but it went wrong every time – say something, please, Jase.”

"Rhys almost drowned, Kelly!"

After a long pause, he replies, “Rhys – Cheryl?   Rhys almost drowned, Kelly!”   

She repeatedly sobs that she is sorry and that they did not deserve it.

"I wanted him to know he can't threaten women"

“But I wanted Howard to know he can’t threaten women, because it’s wrong and it’s cruel – and it stays with you up here!”   

Jason embraces her

His response is to take her in his arms and assure her that it is all right.

"What are we going to do about the tablets?"

Diane asks what they are going to do about the tablets;  she asks if Kelly has any left and she nods.

Gaynor is feeling sorry for herself

As Gaynor is lying miserably on the sofa at Maes-y-Deri, there is a knock at the back door 

The knocking will not stop, so she goes to answer 

and when she sees who it is, does not feel inclined to answer.   When the knocking continues 

"Why didn't you ring the bell?"

she opens the door and wonders why he did not ring the bell.   “You would have seen it was me on the app and you wouldn’t have let me in,” he answers.

He asks if she is all right;  “No – what do you want?” she says.   

"I wanted to talk"

He wanted to check that she was all right and to talk.   

"I never want to talk about this again"

Gaynor, on the other hand, makes it very clear, “I never want to talk about this again,” 

"It was a mistake, Gaynor"

and he acknowledges that it was a mistake.   

"Just go, will you?"

“Just go, will you?”   He gives her back the socks, which have been washed.

"We should avoid each other from now on"

“I think it would be an idea for us to avoid each other from now on,” she continues, 

"That will be rather difficult"

but he considers that will be rather difficult, as Cheryl has asked him out for a date.   He leaves the house and Gaynor looks even more miserable.

Jason disposes of the tablets 

Jason is putting the tablets in the sink and flushing them away;  

"We can put this all behind us now"

his mother comes in to check that they have gone.   “We can put this all behind us now,” she sighs, 

It appears that not all the tablets have gone . . .

but it appears that Jason has kept a few of the tablets 

 . . .wearing a determined look

for future use.
