9 June 2020

We see the door of number 7
First we see the door of number seven,
There is a gang of bystanders
then a crowd of people standing opposite, outside the shop;
Llinos has alerted Kelly and Sara
Kelly and Sara come out of the café, having been alerted by Llinos.
"Good morning, Kelly"
Sara thinks that Kelly should advise Iolo of what has happened, and at that moment he comes out of the house, wishing them, “Good morning.”
He looks across the road and wonders what is wrong;
Then Iolo discovers what they were looking at
when he turns he notices the word ‘PAEDO’, which has been written in red across the front of the house.   He quickly retreats back inside.
"Yo cant' do anything on an empty stomach"
At Maes-y-Deri, Kath urges Tyler, “Eat that porridge, will you?  You can’t do anything on an empty stomach.   Or some toast then, with Eileen’s nice jam.”
"How could I be so stupid?"
Tyler groans, “How could I be so stupid?”   She emphasises that she was in a hole and he helped her out, but he begs, “Please don’t put me in that position again.”
Mark is quite clear that every sensible person knows that Tyler is not a danger to the kids.  “That’s not how courts see things – I’m expecting a knock on that door,” predicts Tyler.
"The pigs would have been here already"
Mark points out, “If Jason and Sara wanted to report you, the pigs would have been here already.”   Kath agrees wholeheartedly with that, but must go now, as Colin will be angry if she is late at the shop.
"Hiya, Iol!"
Tyler’s phone sounds, and he expects that it is another person wanting to give him a mouthful, but it is in fact Iolo.
"I'm sure you've drunk a bottle or two of Chateauneuf"
Hywel is also on the phone, leaving a message for Ieuan Griffiths, who apparently has just returned from a council-organised trip to France;  “I’m sure you’ve drunk a bottle or two of Chateauneuf.   Just give me a call when you get this message.”
"It's nice for some . . !"
“It’s nice for some – going away at the council’s expense,” comments Gaynor, and Hywel is hoping to get that kind of perk when he is leader of the independent group.
Hywel outlines his agenda
Plan A is to persuade Griffiths to pull out of the running, and plan B to convince the independent councillors that he is the man for the job.
"Or a Garden Party, if you want to sound more posh"
Gaynor suggests that he should invite them there for a barbecue, “Or a garden party, if you want to sound more posh.   Make an impression by giving them good quality food and wine.”   He is concerned that something like that is expensive, but she advises to put it against expenses.
"You're wasting your time at that school"
“You’re wasting your time at that school – you should be a politician,” Hywel laughs.
Garry comes out of the shop
Garry comes out of the shop,
"Not quite as good as the Banksy Guto painted"
and remarks to Sara and Dylan, “It’s not quite as good as the Banksy Guto painted, is it?” Dylan is quick to point out that no-one in his family did it.   “Nor mine,” Garry adds,
"I have more respect for Sunderland fans than for Tyler!"
“Although I have more respect for Sunderland fans than for Tyler!   See you tonight.   We’ve got our own private chef now – your sister has been busy.”
"Well, Kelly's home – I don't have one!"
Sara informs Dylan that she is working from home today;  “Well, Kelly’s home – I don’t have one!” she snaps.
Mark searches in his shed
In the back garden at Maes-y-Deri, Mark looks in the shed;  “It’s in here somewhere – here you go, this will put a shine on the window for you,” as you retrieves a bucket and other window-cleaner’s paraphernalia.
"Us Joneses are used to people gossiping"
“Listen, us Joneses are used to people gossiping about us – don’t take any notice.”
"I only have myself to blame!"
Tyler insists that it is not as easy as that;  “And I only have myself to blame!”   Mark is adamant that he will go with Tyler, emphasising that he learned a lot from his father, when he helped out on the window-cleaning round.
"You're in early, Jaclyn"
In the Deri, Garry is surprised to see Jaclyn in early, and she replies that she needs to stay in the boss’s good books.   He refuses a coffee from Dani,
"I had one in the café – with friends I can trust!"
with the barbed comment, “I had one in the café – with friends I can trust!”
Dani reminds him that Gwern is happy now that he has seen his mother;  “He went to school with a big smile on his face.”
Garry predicts that he will want to see her all the time, and that will mess with his head.   “We’ll make sure that doesn’t happen,” Dani says,
"Can we just try to be civil in front of people"
adding, “Can we just try to be civil in front of people?   If you’re going to be like this, we may as well cancel Dylan and Sara – it will be embarrassing if we’re not talking!”
"You haven't seen it, have you?"
“There’s plenty to discuss, thanks to your brother!” Garry snarls, “You haven’t seen it, have you?   Thank goodness I sacked Tyler, or the Deri would have been targeted, not Iolo’s house.”   Jaclyn, who is checking the box of vegetables, does not want to get involved in this, and hurriedly takes them into the kitchen.   Dani decides she is going to investigate.
Tyler and Mark are removing graffiti
Tyler and Mark are working on removing the red paint from number seven when Ieuan Griffiths passes, and has to make a snide comment;
"Cleaning graffiti?   You usually paint it!"
“Well, well – Mark Jones cleaning graffiti – you usually paint it!”
"Community Service, is it?"
Then he turns to Tyler;  “Community Service, is it?   Life can be cruel – one minute you’re a respectable teacher, and the next you’re living on state handouts.”
Tyler gives Griffiths a piece of his mind
Tyler is losing his temper by this time, and growls, “I’d rather be in the gutter with the rats than with a vulture like you!”
"At least the spelling is correct"
Gaynor comes along, and Griffiths informs her, “I don’t get any pleasure from this – at least the spelling is correct.   She asks if Griffiths received Hywel’s message about coming for dinner;  he is immediately suspicious.
"And what does he want?"
“What does he want?” he demands,
"Something to do with the council"
and she says that it is something to do with the council.
"Marinate the fillet steak"
“I’m free tonight, if you still have time to marinate the fillet steak,” he replies, and is looking forward to it.
"I'll kill them!   It breaks my heart!"
When Dani arrives and sees the graffiti, she vows, “I’ll kill them!   It breaks my heart to see you suffer this abuse,”
She gives him a hug
and she gives her brother a reassuring hug.
Kath provides tea for the workers
Mark goes to the shop, where his mother provides cups of tea for him and Tyler;  he wonders if there are any biscuits.
"Biscuits  – in a food shop?   I'm not sure"
“Biscuits – in a food shop?   I’m not sure,” she replies;  he would prefer ginger nuts.
Colin has overdone the suds
Colin comes in from the back room with a bucket of extremely soapy water for them, and when Tyler enters,
"I bet they were kids"
assures him, “I bet they were kids – it wasn’t malicious.”
"Thanks for being so kind"
Tyler thanks them for being so kind, and Kath emphasises that people support one another around here.
"Do you want to clean the shop windows?"
“Do you want to clean the shop windows?” asks Colin, “I’ll pay you – but I charge £5 for the hot water and bubbles.”
"If I find out, their life won't be worth living!"
Dani, who has accompanied Tyler, promises that if she finds out who did it, their life will not be worth living.
Gwen is keeping busy as usual
In the café, Gwen is hard at work when Dylan comes in
Kelly pours Dylan's coffee
and asks Kelly for a black coffee;
"Ifan is her priority"
“I hope Sara hasn’t had tantrums after yesterday,” he comments, but Kelly reminds him that Ifan is her priority.   “Was she moody last night?” he continues, and is told that she was not.
"Are you going to answer that?"
His phone rings and Kelly suggests that he answer it, but he tells her to mind her own business;
"Oh – who's moody now?"
“Oh – who’s moody now?” she enquires,
Dylan stalks off
and he walks out, stony-faced.
"I'm just popping upstairs, Gwen"
Kelly tells Gwen, “Right, a breakfast, extra bacon, no mushrooms – I’m just popping upstairs.”
"He's giving me the creeps – that Dylan!"
There she tells Jason, “He’s giving me the creeps – that Dylan!”
"Criminals and creeps, weirdos and paedophiles!"
Jason acknowledges that the village is full of criminals and creeps, weirdos and paedophiles.
"You don't really believe Tyler's a paedophile?"
“You don’t really believe that Tyler is a paedophile, do you?” she demands, and when he kisses her as he leaves for work,
Kelly finds some incriminating red marks
she notices tell-tale red marks on his hands.
That was rather negligent, Jason
He realises that he has been found out.
Hywel plans his moves
As they prepare for their meal, Hywel proposes to bring out the single malt after they have reached an agreement.   “Do you know what?   I can’t believe he really thinks he has the support to get elected – he’s upset so many people over the years.”
Gaynor points out that Griffiths does not think he has upset anyone;  “That’s his problem.”
"I'll put myself forward as his replacement"
Hywel is confident that he will get Griffiths to pull out, and will put himself forward as a replacement.   “Oh – two wily old foxes meeting!” she laughs, “How exciting!”
Griffiths arrives, empty-handed
Then their guest arrives, apologising that he did not get the chance to bring a bottle with him;  “It’s a chance to continue that discusion we had –
"Nominating me as leader"
“nominating me as leader of the independent group.
In the Deri flat, as the four of them sit down for their meal, Garry wonders if any more graffiti has appeared, but is informed by Dani that they do not want to talk about that now.
"I've found someone who's interested in buying your car"
“Dyl, I’ve found someone who’s interested in buying your car,” says Garry, and this comes as news to Sara.

"I don't use it much these days"
She wonders why he did not say, and he replies that he does not use it much these days, so it is a waste of money.   Garry wants to know what he wants to replace it with, and he answers that he does not want another car;
"Need the readies, do you?"
“Need the readies, do you?” asks Garry, knowingly, “Is working capital tight?”   Dylan prefers to leave that sort of thing at the office,

Sara does not like the sound of this
but already Sara is looking suspicious.

"Dyff sounds like a character, Kath"
Downstairs in the bar, Tyler tells Kath that Dyff sounds like a character;
"The most popular window cleaner in the valley"
“He was the most popular window cleaner in the valley,” Mark recalls, “Colin was keen for us to clean the shop windows this morning,”
"Hey, you could make some money there!"
and Kath thinks they could make some money there.
"I'm not afraid of hard work"
Tyler maintains that he is not afraid of hard work, and would try it – as he needs the money.
Iolo notices them as he comes in
Iolo notices this happy scene as he comes into the pub.
"Wonderful cooking, Gaynor"
At Llwyncelyn, Griffiths compliments Gaynor on the cooking,
"Will you get enough support to get elected?"
and Hywel begins his plan;  “Will you get enough support to be elected?”
"If I say I'm vegan, or own an electric car"
Griffiths replies that he will be going for the ‘woke’ vote;  “If I say I’m vegan, or own an electric car, I’ll get loads of votes,” he predicts, but Hywel comments that the young counsellors are not so easily duped.    “Nonsense – they all have their price,” retorts Griffiths, “That’s one thing Dad taught me, God rest his soul.   I’ll promise them a freebie!”
"I was going to organise a Garden Party"
Hywel continues, “I was going to organise a garden party for the independent members,” and Griffiths regards this as a opportunity to persuade those who are not part of the flock.   Gaynor suggests that they could hold it at Llwyncelyn, as they have plenty of room, and could get a catering company in.
"You're very kind, doing all this for me"
Griffiths begins to ‘smell a rat’, and enquires, “You’re very kind, doing all this for me,” but Hywel explains that it is not exactly for him.
"A chance to announce I'm also standing as leader"
“Rather, it would be a chance to announce that I am also standing as  leader.”   Griffiths cannot believe that Hywel would stand against him, and accuses him of not thinking straight.   Hywel spells it out, “I want you to pull out and nominate me.”   There is a stunned silence.

"I was hoping we'd have a reason to celebrate"
Up in the Deri flat, Sara says, “I am just glad to escape from that stuffy flat – I was hoping we’d have a reason to celebrate tonight.   We went to see a lovely house yesterday,” and she shows Dani the photos on her phone.
"It was all right, I suppose"
“It’s huge!” Dani exclaims, and Dylan tries to give the impression that he was not impressed.
"With a bit of work, it would be perfect!"
Sara, on the other hand, maintains that with a bit of work it would be perfect.   After looking at another message on his phone, Dylan declares that he is not buying it.
"£300,000 is not a lot of money these days"
“£300,000 is not a lot of money these days,” Sara points out, but Dylan tells her to leave it, as Dani and Garry do not want to hear about it,
"How the other half live!"
although Dani thinks it is exciting to see how the other half live.
“Just don’t think we’re buying that house, that’s all!” growls Dylan,
"Applies to every other house as well!"
and Sara gets the impression that also applies to any other house, as far as she can see.
"I've put Teddy on a vegetarian diet"
There is an awkward silence, broken by Dani, who says she has put Teddy on a veg diet.
In the Deri, Iolo thanks Tyler for cleaning the graffiti off the window;  he did not hear anything going on during the night, and in any case could not do much with his foot.
"People aren't going to leave me alone"
“People aren’t going to leave me alone,” groans Tyler, but admits that he is not going to contact the police.   He will let things die down, and Iolo agrees that it probably best.

"I didn't know you expected me to"
“You didn’t get in touch on the day of the case,” Tyler goes on, and Iolo did not know that he was expected to do so.

"That's for Llio and me"
Jaclyn brings over a bottle and two glasses, and Iolo explains that they are for him and Llio, who is on her way over.
"Have you asked yourself why he became a teacher?"
Tyler takes the hint and leaves, on the way to the door overhearing Gerwyn saying, “No-one’s put on the Sex Offenders’ Register for no reason.”   Kath is sure that Tyler is not a threat to anyone, but Gerwyn continues, “Have you asked yourself why he became a teacher?”
Tyler angrily intervenes
Tyler cannot resist interrupting this conversation, “To make a difference to children’s lives!” he roars, “I didn’t get much attention at home or at school –
"Ooh – touched a nerve there!"
“if you think that’s disgusting, you’re the one with the problem!”
"I'm surprised you are so naïve"
Griffiths is preparing to leave Llwyncelyn, remarking, “I’m surprised you’re naïve enough to think I would step aside for you.”
"What would you prefer, Ieuan?"
Hywel considers that he has more chance of winning;  “What would you prefer, Ieuan – that I’m your leader, or someone with a knife in your back?”
"I love a battle . . ."
Griffiths ‘gleefully answers that he loves a battle,
". . . there are no rules in a war!"
because there are no rules in a war.   He takes his leave of them;  Hywel and Gaynor look at each other.
"Yes, I have washed them!"
Jason and Kelly are on the sofa watching a film and sharing some popcorn;  “I hope you’ve scrubbed those hands!” she admonishes him.
He has constructed a large money box for Ifan in the form of a house;  “Ifan can start saving to buy his own house now – well, perhaps not a house, but whatever he needs.   I cant afford to offer what creepy Dylan can offer, but there we are.”
"All the money in the world couldn't buy that, Jase!"
She is disturbed by his attitude, and assures him that all the money in the world could not buy that money box.
They hear the sound of an altercation
Then they hear raised voices coming from Sara’s bedroom;  “Did you have to – in front of Dani and Garry?”
"Ssh – they're having a bust-up!'
and realise that their lodgers are having a bust-up.
"You went on and on about the house!"
“You went on and on about the house!” shouts Dylan, and Jason suspects that someone has had one glass of wine too many.   “You assumed I would buy that house!” Dylan goes on, “And I only viewed it because you organised it, Sara!
"If you only knew, I'm up to my eyes, OK?"
“If only you knew, I’m up to my eyes, OK?”

"You don't want to discuss things with me!"
She demands why he did not say anything, and he snarls, “Because you don’t listen to me!”   She protests that he does not discuss things with her;  she has only just found out that he wants to sell his car, and presumes that money must be tight.
"You know that Tapas is doing well"
He insists that is not the case;  “You know that Tapas is doing well.”
"So why not make an offer on the house, then?"
“So why not make an offer on the house, then?” she shouts, and he maintains that he has to be prudent.   “At this rate, we’ll be in an old people’s home before we get somewhere!” Sara moans.
"I'm not buying because you click your fingers!"
Dylan turns threatening;  “I’m not buying because you click your fingers – it’s a big decision!”
In the other room, Jason and Kelly are still being entertained by this performance;
"He'd better go to the estate agent tomorrow morning!"
Kelly mutters, “I know the house probably isn’t up to scratch, but if he wants a quiet life, he’d better go to the estate agent tomorrow morning.”
"Let's talk about it in the morning"
Dylan has now calmed down slightly, and says that they will talk about it in the morning, but Sara will not be silenced.
"A couple of months ago, you had enough money"
“A couple of months ago, you had enough money to buy a house,” she says, and he insists that things have changed.   She knows that he is hiding something, but he denies it.
He comes up with an unconvincing excuse"
“I’ve had a couple of unexpected costs on the houses in Swansea, that’s all – happy?” he informs her, but she still cannot believe that is the reason he had to sell the car.
"What is it, then?   Are you in debt?"
Then she suspects that he is having cold feet about their relationship;  “What is it, then?   Are you in debt?   Is that why you’ve got a black eye?”
He says he wanted to get a 'family' car
He demands if she really wants the truth;  “I want to swap the car for a family car – something more suitable for you and Ifan – it was supposed to be a surprise.
"When you thought I had money, I couldn't do anything wrong"
“When you thought I had money, I couldn’t do anything wrong in your eyes!”   He puts on his jacket and tells Sara that he needs some space;
"Dylan, don't go!"
despite her pleading, he will not stay.
