Gaynor is downcast

Gaynor is sitting solemnly on the sofa as Tom asks her whether she slept well and she sighs that she did not;

"You've been like this for days"

“You’ve been like this for days.”   Gaynor cannot believe that someone reported her, but he points out, “It’s not going to change anything – you were over the limit.”

"Am I going to lose my licence?"

She wonders if she will lose her licence and he maintains that unfortunately it is likely,

"I'll drive you wherever you want to go"

but tells her not to worry, as he will drive her wherever she wants to go.

"Will you give me a lift to work?"

“Will you give me a lift to work?” she asks.

"I thought you would take time off work"

He seems surprised that she is going back, but she points out that she has a shift.   “I thought you would take time off work while the dust settles,”says Tom,

"The sooner I get back to work, the better"

but she considers that the sooner she gets back to work, the better – to get it out of the way.

"If you think that's best"

“Well, if you think that’s best,” he mutters, so she can see that he thinks it is not a good idea.

"I don't want you to hear what people are saying"

“I don’t want you to hear what people in the village are saying about you – I’m just trying to protect you.   They’re very critical of you getting behind the wheel after a drink – putting their lives in danger – that’s how they see it.”

"You should rethink going back for a while"

Gaynor groans that this is a nightmare and he suggests that she should rethink going back for a while;  he will talk to Maya and explain the situation.   Once again he has persuaded her.

"It must be here somewhere"

Kylie has lost some paperwork for school and is frantically searching for it;  “It must be here somewhere – I’ve looked everywhere.   Miss Jenkins will be fuming.”

"Cup of tea, Colin . . ."

Britt comes in with a cup of tea for Colin and gives him a kiss;

". . . and would you like a bacon bap?"

she wonders if he would like a bacon bap, to which he quickly agrees, as he sits down on the sofa.

Kylie is suspicious of this unfamiliar behaviour and, as he sits down,

"Oh – what's this?"

he finds something tucked down the side of the sofa – Kylie’s missing work.

"Colin, you're brilliant!"

Britt praises him, “Colin, you’re brilliant!”

"It's rather sensitive"

Tom goes to the pharmacy, where Maya eyes him suspiciously;  he says that he would like a quick word with her on a rather sensitive matter,

"D you want to go through to the back?"

which she assumes to be a medical problem.

"Gaynor needs to take time off work"

He continues, “Gaynor asked me to explain that she needs to take time off work – I’m sure you’re aware of what happened last week with the police.   It’s really hit her – she feels too ashamed to face people and thinks it is better if she doesn’t work for now.”

"Tell her not to worry"

Maya replies, “Tell her not to worry – I’ll get Douglas in until she’s ready to come back.”   Tom is sure that would be best for everyone, as the customers would probably feel uncomfortable around her.

"How is Gaynor?"

Maya’s suspicions are growing as she asks how Gaynor is

"She has learned her lesson"

and is told that she has learned her lesson;  “She says herself that she has been silly and there are consequences to that.”

Maya says that Gaynor can come back whenever she is ready;

"Thanks for your understanding"

Tom thanks her for her understanding, but she is convinced that something is wrong

Maya is pretty sure of what is going on

and has a fair idea what that is.

"Colin – your bacon bap is here!"

Britt calls Colin to say that his bacon bap is on the table;  before he comes in,

"Why are you being so nice to Colin?"

Kylie asks why she is being so nice to Colin.   “He might have been meeting someone behind your back – don’t you care that he’s been lying?”

"I'm going to find out the truth – today"

“Of course I’m worried – I don’t want him to think that anything is different, but I have a plan and I’m going to find out the truth – today,” Britt announces.

"You're spoiling me!"

Then Colin appears and says that he is being spoiled,

Colin does like his ketchup

as usual lacing the bacon with plenty of ketchup.

Tom drops in again

At Deri Fawr, Tom drops in again on his way to work.

"Missing me already?"

“Oh yeah – missing me already?” jokes Ffion.

Look!   Suddenly Jinx has reappeared – after all this time

We discover that Jinx is now fit and well again, after having disappeared for over a week without any sort of explanation.

Tom heard that she was unwell last week and thought he would pop in to see how she is now.   “The doctor said I would feel like that, but now Im finally feeling like myself.”

"You do look rather pale at times"

Jinx comments that she does look better, adding that she does look rather pale at times.

"What would you like for breakfast?"

“Well, as I’m here, what would you like for breakfast?” Tom continues,

"Well, I might as well go, then"

so Jinx, regarding himself as superfluous, decides that he will go.

"What sort of a cook are you?" —  He is pretty useless at making tea

Ffion wonders what sort of cook Tom is.

Gaynor is out in the garden, worrying

Gaynor is out in the garden, worrying about what has happened,

"Gaynor!"

when she is suddenly confronted by Maya;

"Didn't Tom explain?"

“Sorry – didn’t Tom explain?” she asks.

"I'm worried about you"

Maya just wanted to see her;  “I’m worried about you.”   Gaynor unconvincingly maintains that she is fine, but it is obvious that is not the case.

"I'm so angry with myself!"

“I feel very guilty and I’m so angry with myself,” she says,

"Don't beat yourself up, Gaynor"

but is told that she should not beat herself up.   “I’ve got no one else to blame but myself, have I?” is the reply,

"I understand if you don't want me to come back"

“Listen, I understand if you don’t want me to come back to the pharmacy.”

"Don't you think it's a bit odd?"

“Don’t you think it’s a bit odd getting breathalysed outside the Deri like that?”   Gaynor points out that someone reported her, so it is obvious to Maya that they were tipped off – she wonders who would do that.

"Like Tom said, I was over the limit"

Gaynor insists that whoever it may have been was right to do it;  “Like Tom said, I was over the limit.”

This mention of Tom confirms what Maya had been thinking;

"Who tipped them off – and why"?"

“This isn’t right – were you drinking outside the Deri?   Then who tipped them off – and why?”   Gaynor is left to come to her own conclusion.

"Gaynor is very lucky to have you"

As they eat, Ffion says, “Gaynor is very lucky to have you as a personal chef,” but he replies that she insists on doing most of the cooking.   Ffion considers it a shame to waste his talents.

"I heard about the drink-driving"

“I heard about the drink-driving,” she goes on and he remarks that she has a court case in a few weeks;  they will see how it goes.

"I'm thinking of bringing this rota to an end"

Ffion sends her regards to Gaynor and then decides, “I’m thinking of bringing this rota to an end – I’ve turned a corner – I’m nothing like I was a week ago.”

He tries to give the impression that this is good news and she continues, “I feel like a real madam, being looked after like this.”

"It' no problem to pop over"

He replies that it is no problem to pop over, but now she is ready to get some of her independence back;

"It's time for Gaynor to have you back!"

“And it’s time for Gaynor to have you back to herself!”

"You've done enough already, Tom"

Now he wants to clear the table, but Ffion insists that she can do it for herself and that he has done enough already;  “You’re the only one who talks to me like a normal person –

"I've laughed more than I have in months"

“and I’ve laughed more with you than I have in months.”

"My head won't fit through the door!"

“Don’t – or my head won’t fit through the door!” he quips,

"Fancy a cup of tea?"

“Fancy a cup of tea?”   Ffion says that would be lovely;

Tom's special brew again!

he takes out his bottle of poison again for yet another try.

"Perhaps someone thought I was drinking in the Deri"

As they walk in the garden, Gaynor suggests, “Perhaps someone made a mistake – they thought I was drinking in the Deri.”   Maya stresses that she was not.

"But who would do something like that?"

“But who would do something like that?” Gaynor demands.

“Someone who wants to control you, perhaps – someone who wants you to be dependent on them –

"Someone like . . .Tom?"

“someone like . . . Tom?”

"Why would Tom do that?"

Gaynor is outraged;  “Why would Tom do that?” she demands, but Maya points out that it is possible.

"I can't believe you've accused him!"

“Maya, I know you’ve never liked him, but that’s ridiculous!   I can’t believe you’ve accused him of such a thing!”

"I don't want to quarrel, Gaynor"

Maya does not want to quarrel with Gaynor, but is told, “You don’t know Tom like I do.”

Maya snaps, “I don’t like the way he talks about you – he sounded like some stern teacher earlier, going on about you needing to learn a lesson – but I’ve said enough –

"Just come back to work when you're ready"

“just come back to work when you’re ready – I miss you.”

Something else for her to think about

This has given Gaynor something to think about.

"Right, I'm off to get Kylie"

Colin puts on his jacket, takes his keys and announces to Britt, “Right, I’m off to get Kylie and take her to the acting lesson.”

"I'll come with you, Col"

Britt volunteers to come with him, but he insists that there is no need;  he has got a few errands to run.   “Nothing major, just . . .”

He rejects any offer to help,

"OK, I'll see you later"

so she says that she will see him later,

He leaves the flat

but as he hurries out of the flat, she is about to put her plan into action and quickly gets up from the sofa.

"I won't need to pop over any more, then"

At Deri Fawr, Tom says that he will not need to pop over any more.

"Thanks for your company"

Ffion thanks him for his company, but when she gets up, she is rather unsteady on her feet and complains that she feels strange.

She is unable to stand unaided

He helps her to the sofa, taking care to remove the mug from her hand and assuring her that she has just had a ‘turn’.

"What's going on?" — she's in the same condition as you were!

At that moment, Jinx walks in and, understandably, wants to know what is going on.

"I'm going to call an ambulance!"

He is intent on calling for an ambulance, but Tom insists that she is all right;

"She just got up too quickly"

“She just got up too quickly!”

"We'll see what the paramedics say"

“Well, we’ll see what the paramedics say,” responds Jinx;  however, Tom is adamant that she does not need to go to hospital

"Stop fussing, Jinx"

and Ffion herself tells him not to make a fuss.   While Jinx is very concerned about her,

Tom removes the evidence

Tom takes the opportunity to go and wash the mug to remove the evidence.

Ffion refuses to go to hospital;  “I’m only a bit light-headed,”

"The doctors said she might have 'turns' like this"

and Tom interrupts to say that the doctors predicted that she would have ‘turns’ like this.   Jinx has not seen her like this before, but Ffion is adamant she will not go to A&E.

"You've done enough for today!"

“You’d better go, Tom – you’ve done enough for today!” snarls Jinx

So Tom leaves the house

and Tom makes his exit, while Ffion is unsure of what is happening to her.

Colin gets out of the car

Colin’s car arrives at his destination;

. . .but is under the watchful eye of Britt . . .

he gets out, carrying his box of chocolates

The building is Barrington Park

and walks across to a building with a sign, ‘Barrington Park’.

Britt watches from the taxi

What he does not know is that a Deri Deithio taxi is nearby and Britt is watching him from its window.

Colin drops the box of chocolates

He drops the box of chocolates and stoops down to pick it up, so Britt quickly hides, so he will not see her.   Then he continues to the building,

Britt may know with is doing

as Britt seems to have an idea why he is there.

"You're back early"

Gaynor is looking at her laptop when she hears the door open;  “You’re back early,” she comments

"Keeping tabs on me, are you?"

and Tom wonders if she is keeping tabs on him.

"I thought you had a late shift"

She simply thought that he had a late shift.

“I came home early – is that a problem?” he growls.

"Maya came over earlier"

After a moment’s thought, she thanks him for going to see Maya and advises that she came over earlier.

"I thought it strange that the police were waiting for me"

“I thought it strange that the police were waiting for me outside the Deri, because I hadn’t been drinking in the Deri – so how did anyone know that I was over the limit?   It didn’t hit me at the time, but, thinking about it, who would do such a thing?   And why?”

"You need to start taking responsibility, Gaynor"

Tom tells her, “You need to start taking responsibility, Gaynor – you were the one who was foolish enough to drink and drive.

"It's just you and your bad decisions . . ."

“There’s no conspiracy, just you and your bad decisions –

". . . and you need to be careful"

“and you need to be careful, throwing accusations around!”

"If you hadn't forced cheese and wine on me"

She points out that she did not accuse anyone;  “This wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t forced cheese and wine on me!”

Tom marches out of the house

Tom gets up and walks out of the house.

"You shouldn't have sent Tom away"

Ffion is now lying down, but is still insisting that she does not need an ambulance;  she also complains that Jinx should not have sent Tom away.   “You put Tom on the rota – he helps me – he’s company.”

"Is there something going on between you two?"

Jinx demands whether there is something going on between the two of them;

"This is jealousy, is it?"

“Is this what it is?   Jealousy?” but he says that he is only trying to protect her.

"You're trying to control me!"

“You’re trying to control me!” she moans.

"This is a side-effect of the head trauma"

He appreciates that the anger is a side-effect of the head trauma, but he is losing patience with her.   She mumbles, “You’re enjoying this – that I’m dependent on you for everything.”

"I'm only trying my best"

He protests that he is only trying his best,

"You're pathetic!"

but she describes him as, “Pathetic!”

Tome heads for the pharmacy . . .

Meanwhile, Tom approaches the pharmacy

. . . and peers inside . . .

and peers in through the door;

. . . but when Maya notices him . . .

Maya becomes aware that he is there,

. . . he changes his mind

so he moves away.   She is getting worried.

Colin comes out . . .

Outside Barrington Park,

. . . and is directed through the gates

Colin is directed through the gates and follows instructions,

Britt is going to follow him . . .

with Britt keeping a careful eye on him.

. . . to solve the puzzle once and for all

She gets out of the taxi

She watches . . .

and follows him as far as the gate,

. . . and Colin walks towards Cai . . .

where she can see him approaching Cai

. . . handing him the chocolates

and handing him the box of chocolates.

Britt finds this upsetting

She is upset by this.

Back at Llwyncelyn . . .

Back at Llwyncelyn,

. . . there is no sign of Gaynor . . .

Tom cannot find Gaynor

. . . but he does find a note

but does see a note on the table,

. . . which does not please him at all

which informs him ‘you can stay in the spare room tonight’.

He screws up the note

This does not go down at all well and he screws up the note.

Britt is packing

Later, when Colin gets home to the MFC flat, he can see that all is not well with Britt, who is packing things into a bag.

"Is everything all right?"

“Is everything all right?” he asks, but she does not reply.

However, after zipping up the bag,

"I've left a note for Kylie on the table"

she tells him that she has left a letter for Kylie on the table,

She leaves the flat

but will not listen to his protestations;  she immediately leaves the flat.
