Dani opens the door

Next morning, Dani comes downstairs in Maes-y-Deri and quietly lets Howard out through the front door

"Last night was lovely"

as he tells her that last night was lovely.   She thinks that no-one knows about this little escapade,

But Dani is being watched

but Mark is there, also in his dressing gown, sitting on the sofa.

She goes through to the kitchen

When she gets into the kitchen, she notices him

"Howard – again?"

and he demands, “Howard – again?”

"Ffion's been stuck in bed for two days"

Gaynor informs Tom that she texted Ffion earlier;  “She’s been unwell all week – stuck in bed for two days.”   Tom commiserates

"She's determined to remember what happened"

and she continues, “I hope that she gets better, because she’s determined to remember what happened to her.”

"Could we trust what she says?"

He warns her, “Even if she does start to remember things, I’d be very dubious – she had a nasty injury – could we trust what she says?

"I know what it's like to be attacked"

“I feel for her – I know what it’s like to be attacked, but I’m fortunate to be in a sensible relationship now.”

Gaynor receives another text

kisses Gaynor, who then receives another text message;

"Diane wants to organise a meeting"

“It’s Diane again – she wants to organise a meeting to discuss ApĂȘl Maenan.   I’m not sure what it’s about.”

"It's our film night tonight"

Tom tells her that she will have to say no, stressing that their film night is tonight, after Gaynor cancelled last week.   She maintains that it sounds important,

"I've been looking forward to it"

but he stresses that he has been looking forward to the film night and has made a shortlist, for her to choose from.

Gaynor thinks she ought to go

However, seeing the look on Gaynor’s face, he sighs, “You go, if you prefer,” but she says that she will tell Diane they have plans.

"A night on the sofa with you . . ."

“Let’s see – a night on the sofa with you,

". . . or a meeting to discuss a charity shop?"

“or a meeting to discuss a charity shop?” Gaynor wonders.

"What is Gabriel had seen you?"

Mark brings Dani a cup of tea;  “What if Gabriel had seen you?   Or Gwern, even?”

"Please don't judge me"

She mutters that she was not thinking straight;  “Please don’t judge me – I feel terrible about myself as it is.”

"I'm worried he's taking advantage of you"

He assures her that he is not judging her, but is just worried that Howard is taking advantage of her.

“I don’t need to tell you that you’re way out of his league,” Mark continues,

"I was lonely and he was there"

and Dani complains that anyone would think she would have learned from the last time.   She was lonely and he was there.

"You can't go on like this, OK?"

Mark appreciates that she is suffering, “But you can’t go on like this, OK?   What if I have to go to prison?   Who’s going to look after you then, if you can’t do it yourself?”

"What's the point if I'm going to lose everyone?"

She sobs that perhaps this is why she is doing it;  “What’s the point if I’m going to lose everyone anyway?”

"You have to be strong for Gabriel"

He urges her not to say that but insists that he has to be strong for Gabriel’s sake;  he is relying on her.

"I'll stop – I promise!"

Dani promises that she is going to stop.

"Remember the meeting tonight"

Gaynor is waiting in the Deri when Diane arrives;  “Remember the meeting tonight,” she tells them, “But not a word to Megan  there’s going to be a change of plans.   Can I rely on you two?   I’ll explain later.”   then she moans that Gaynor has not answered her message yet.

"I promised Tom"

Gaynor points out that tonight is a bit complicated, as she has promised Tom.   “What’s more important than a cause that’s close to everyone’s hearts?” demands Diane.

"We have a film night on a Thursday"

She explains that they have a film night on Thursdays and she missed the last one.

"A film?"

“A film?” Diane sneers, “Look, we’re not trying to save ApĂȘl Maenan here – we’re organising a retirement party for Megan as a surprise.”

"Another party?"

“Another party?   Didnt we make enough fuss on her birthday?” groans Kath, but Diane insists that she should still get the farewell she deserves after all the years she has given this place.

"Couldn't you watch your film another night?"

Kath tells Gaynor she does not want to interfere, but could not she and Tom watch a film some other night?   “Tomorrow, perhaps?”   This serves to change Gaynor’s mind and she agrees that she will be there,

Tom is not going to like this

but does not look very pleased when she thinks of the reception this will get, back at Llwyncelyn.

"Thanks very much!"

Mark has received a phone call as he stands in the deli

"That's a relief!"

and looks very relieved.

"Some of that cheese, please"

Tom is at the counter selecting some cheese;  he informs Mark that he and Gaynor are having a film night tonight;

"Wine and cheese – there's nothing like it!"

“A bottle of wine and cheeses – there’s nothing better.”

"Remember the meeting tonight, boys"

Then Diane comes in and tells them to remember the meeting tonight;  “You’re welcome to come with Gaynor,” she says to Tom,

"Gaynor can't make it tonight"

who maintains that she cannot make it tonight, as they have plans.

"The film night will have to wait!"

“She’s just changed her mind – the film night will have to wait!” Diane announces, before walking out again.   This definitely displeases him and Mark orders two bacon baguettes,

Mark returns to the table

then returns to Dani who is sitting, looking very sorry for herself, at a table.

"You need a plate of grease"

“I miss having a proper cafĂ© at times like this,” he tells her, “You need a plate of grease to help with that hangover.   The pigs just phoned – they’re dropping me as a suspect in Ffion’s case.”

"That's great, Mark"

Dani says that is great and he adds, “At least, I’m not up for attempted murder – on top of attacking Jinx – silver linings.”

"I won't let you down"

is so grateful to him for everything he does and she promises she will not let him down;

"I've got faith in you, Dan"

he rather naĂŻvely replies that he has faith in her.   She looks at the message alert which has just arrived on her phone.

"One of those posh houses in Llanarthur"

“One of those posh houses in Llanarthur wants me to clean – today, if I can.”

"It will focus your mind"

Mark says that there is nothing like a new job to focus the mind.

The waitress has just brought over their bacon baguettes,

She takes half a baguette — Mark is bound to eat the other half

Dani says that she will have to go, so she takes half of one with her.

Diane is passing

As Diane happens to be walking past, she sees Hywel with three men from Quantum Hydro Works;

"This is where the new office will be"

he is telling them, “This is where the new office will be, but you know that.   It will be very convenient for me because I live next door.”

He introduces Diane

Diane goes over to them and Hywel introduces her, “Friends, this is Diane Ashurst, a well-respected councillor around here.   It was thanks to Diane’s vote that the reservoir got the green light.”

"You avoided voting either way"

Diane takes the opportunity to remind him, “You avoided voting either way, if I remember correctly!”

He maintains that he did not understand the plans,

"I'm glad you saw sense"

but is very glad that she saw sense . . .

"Or you couldn't have lined your pockets!"

“Or you couldn’t have lined your pockets!” she goes on, “How do you sleep at night?

"Counting your 30 pieces of silver, I'm sure"

Counting your 30 pieces of silver, I’m sure – but what’s the price of community?”

"Deri Lakes will benefit the community

He proudly replies that the Deri Lakes project will benefit the community;

"Leisure centre – nature reserve"

“Haven’t you heard?   We are going to sell plots around the reservoir for luxury homes, a leisure centre, a nature reserve – all for the benefit of the community.”

"You're starting to believe your own lies!"

She accuses him of starting to believe his own lies and will give him some news;

"Megan won't go quietly"

“Megan won’t go quietly, I’m telling you.”

Dani fins the right house . . .

Dani arrives at the posh house in Llanarthur

. . . where they are not very security-conscious . . .

and finds the key under the doormat.

. . . and enters the house

She enters the house,

She goes into the opulent kitchen . . .

going through to the opulent kitchen, gathers together some of her cleaning materials and is about to start work.

. . . but does not notice the photos on the fridge

What she does not notice are a couple of pictures on the fridge featuring Malcolm Edwards.

Gaynor arrives home

Gaynor arrives back at Llwyncelyn

"Catena Zapata!"

and Tom announces that he has a bottle of Catena Zapata;  “You look guilty, Gaynor – what have you done?

"Stolen Megan Harries' false teeth?"

“Stolen Megan Harries’ false teeth?”

"Diane put me in an awkward position"

She replies that Diane put her in an awkward position, so he continues, “You agreed to go to the meeting.

"Diane told me in front of everyone . . ."

Diane told me in front of everyone –

". . . while I was spending a fortune . . ."

“while I was spending a fortune on expensive cheeses and boasting about the wonderful night I was going to have with you.

"I felt like a real fool!"

“I felt like a real fool.”

"I'm so sorry, Tom"

This has the desired effect and Gaynor whines that she is so sorry;  “I’ll tell her that something’s come up.”

"Only pulling your leg!"

Now Tom maintains that he was only pulling her leg and he realises that it is a matter that is very close to her heart;  he insists that he understands, but is adamant that they have time to eat something first.

"You have to try this wine . . ."

“You have to try this wine,’ which he says is incredible.

"But I'm driving"

When she protests that she is driving,

"One small drink won't hurt you"

he points out, “One small drink is not going to hurt you – I’ve chosen it specially to go with the camembert.”

As usual, she agrees to go along with his wishes and has a sip of the wine.

"Come on – take a bigger sip than that!"

“Come on, take a bigger sip than that,” he urges, so she does and remarks that he is right – it is lovely.

"Of course I'm right!"

“Of course I’m right – I’m always right,” he says, then wonders where the cheese biscuits are.

He tops up Gaynor's glass

While Gaynor goes to find them, he tops up her glass again.

Dani hears a door open . . .

Dani is busily doing her cleaning at the house when she hears a door open

. . . and has a nasty shock

and is suddenly confronted by none other than Malcolm Edwards;

"What are you doing here, Dani?"

“Dani – what the hell are you doing here?   Answer my question!” he snarls

"You're sick – lying me here!"

“You’re sick – do you know that?   Luring me here!” she exclaims,

"I didn't know you worked for the company"

but he replies that he did not know she worked for the company.   “You expect me to believe that?” asks Dani.

"A woman gave me the number"

Malcolm maintains that a woman said she needed customers and gave him Dani’s number.

"I'm getting out of here!"

Dani is solely interested in getting out of there,

"Not until you accept that I didn't call you here"

but he menacingly stipulates, “Not until you accept that I didn’t call you here – there’s been a misunderstanding.”

"It's been you the whole time!"

It’s been you the whole time, hasn’t it?” she gasps, “You’ve been phoning me, sending filthy texts and tormenting me about Seren!”

"Lets talk properly"

He denies doing anything of the sort and wants them to talk properly.

"For you to take advantage of me again?"

“For you to take advantage of me again?” she squeals, “You’re a stalker!”   Malcolm warns her to keep her voice down;  “Why?   Are you afraid your wife will come home and find out what a pig you are?

"Let me go, or you'll regret it!"

“Let me go, or you’ll regret it, I promise you!”

He stands aside and . . .

He stands aside and Dani rapidly scuttles out of the house

. . . Dani cannot get away from there quickly enough

and down the path, pulling her trolley behind her.

"Make sure you drink every drop"

Gaynor is just draining her glass and remarking that it goes perfectly with the cheese.   Tom encourages her to drink every drop because it was expensive,

"I should be at the meeting!"

but then she realises that she is supposed to be at the meeting now, but is worried that she should not drive.

"You've only had one glass"

“You’ll be fine – you’ve only had one glass,” he assures her,

"I can have you to myself"

“Go now, so you can come back and I can have you to myself.”

She rushes out . . .

She picks up her keys and tells him not to drink up all of the wine, then hurries out of the house.

. . . and Tom tips off the police

Tom takes his phone from his pocket and makes a call;  “Police, please,” he says.

Hywel and his mates are drinking

Hywel and his three colleagues are drinking in the Deri;

"Haven't they got homes to go to?"

Diane wonders if they have no homes to go to.

"I'm happy to take their money"

“I might not agree with them, but I’m happy to take their money if they’re happy to take our homes,” says Kath, “Why do you think I let Hywel Llywelyn back in?   Have you heard?

"The pigs have accepted that Mark didn't attack Ffion"

“The pigs have finally accepted that Mark didn’t attack Ffion, thank goodness.”

Dani comes in

Howard is sitting gloomily at the bar when Dani comes in;

"Come and sit with us, Dani"

Diane invites her to come and sit with them,

She goes straight to Howard

but she goes straight to Howard.

"I should have guessed"

“I should have guessed it was someone with a grudge – the stalker.”

He maintains that there are too many people there,

They go somewhere quieter

so they go out of the Deri, completely ignoring Diane’s entreaties to join the meeting.

The meeting is started

The two of them carry on,

Gaynor arrives . . .

then Gaynor arrives, apologising for her lateness.   Kath immediately suggests that they should have sandwiches and cakes from the Deri, because Megan enjoyed the ones on her birthday.

. . . but then finds she has forgotten her laptop

Gaynor suddenly realises that she has not brought her laptop,

"You don't need that"

but is told that she does not need it.   “My ideas are on it – a spreadsheet with costs,”

"I'll only be gone five minutes"

she only reckons that she will only be gone for five minutes.

"He gave me money"

As they sit in Ceffyl Du, Dani tells Howard about her experiences at the hands of Malcolm;  “I worked in his office and he took advantage – he gave me money.”

"To keep you quiet?"

“To keep you quiet?” assumes Howard;

"But I told everyone"

she continues that she did not keep quiet, but told everyone.   She imagines that perhaps he is just trying to teach her a lesson.

"You have to go to the police now!"

“I knew he was a pig during Eileen’s trial – you have to go to the police now!” advises Howard,

"He's a lawyer"

but she points out that he is a lawyer and there is nothing she can do.

"And not a very good one"

“He’s not a very good one – Eileen went to prison!” sneers Howard.   Dani simply wants to forget it and would like Howard to help her do that.   She suggests that they go to ‘shots’ next, which meets with his approval.

Mar has tracked down Dani

At this point Mark arrives on the scene;

"Gwern is very upset!"

“There you are!” he snarls, so she immediately insists that she has only had a couple.   “Do you know what?   Gwern is very upset – he’s prepared dinner for us and there’s no sign of you!”

"I'll have it later"

Dani’s answer is that she will have it later and explains that today has been difficult;  “The cleaning job was a set-up – it was Malcolm – he’s been stalking me!”

Mark can understand that she is upset but reminds her that they agreed that this is not the answer.   “You promised!”

She argues that this is just a one-off,

"What about the next time?   Or the one after that?"

so he demands, “What about the next time?   Or the time after that?

"Do you want Gabriel to learn this is how you cope?"

“Do you want Gabriel to learn that this is how you cope?

"Come on, let's go home"

“Come on, let’s go home.”

Dani is persuaded

Suitably persuaded, she picks up her bag to go,

"We were having a nice time"

but Howard objects, pointing out that they were having a nice time.

"If you really care, leave her, OK?"

Mark tells him, “If you really care, leave her, OK?”

"What are you discussing?"

In the Deri, Hywel ambles across from his colleagues and enquires what Kath and Diane are discussing.   “A plot to stop us?”

"Nothing to do with you"

It is pointed out that it is nothing to do with him,

"I can't believe that"

but he finds that difficult to believe.

"A retirement party for Megan"

“We’re organising a surprise retirement party for Megan, if you must know,” Diane discloses, “It’s the least we can do after the years she’s given this community.”   Hywel is in agreement with this and would like to make a contribution if he can,

"The money is already in place"

but is told that the money is already in place.

Then the sound of a siren can be heard outside,

They go out to investigate

so Kath and Diane go out to see what is happening.

Gaynor has failed a breath test

Gaynor has been stopped by the police, right outside the Deri,

"I've only had one glass of wine"

and is protesting, “No, that’s not possible – there must be a mistake – I’ve only had one glass of wine.”

She is led to the police car

However, she is led to the waiting police car and loaded inside

"Is everything all right, Gaynor?"

as Kath asks if everything is all right.

Llinos and her husband come out as well

A few other customers are also watching

Gaynor is taken to the police station

as Gaynor sits disconsolately in the car.
