"Look, I think the world of you"

The last few seconds of the previous episode are repeated, but this time we see what follows;  “Look, I think the world of you,” Mark implores her, “I’m not asking you to marry me or anything,

"We could be best friends"

“but we could be friends – best friends, if you want – but please stay!”

"I don't know what to do, Mark"

Andrea is in tears and does not know what to do, so he tells her to stay, promising that it will be great.   “But what if it’s not?” she asks, “What if going to Newcastle is the right thing to do?

"How am I going to decide?"

“How am I going to decide?”

"Just do whatever makes you happy, all right?"

Mark urges her not to get upset;  “Just do whatever makes you happy, all right?   If you’re happy, I’m happy – honestly.”   She says that she has to catch the train;  “Yeah, OK, I understand,” he assures her, “But listen – if things go wrong up there just get in touch,

"Super Postman will come and rescue you!"

“and ‘Super Postman’ will come and rescue you.”

The taxi drives away . . .

Andrea thanks him and get into the taxi, while Mark looks devastated;

. . . and Mark watches helplessly

he stands in the road and watches her disappearing into the distance.

Anita has brought Kath some geraniums

Anita has brought some geranium plants for Kath;  “I had to bring them as I was bringing you the washing anyway,” she says.

"I feel like a queen"

Kath is very grateful to her and Brynmor for organising that – she says she feels like a queen.

“Well, you’re lucky – I used to feel like a queen with Ieuan – well, a princess perhaps,” recalls Anita,

"Someone else is the queen in his life!"

adding, “Someone else is the queen in his life!   I know a lot of people dont like him, but I had a lovely time with him.”

"Kath wants to find out more"

Kath is inquisitive to find out what happened, and Anita simply says, “You know what it’s like – things just fizzle out.”

"My mouth is like a camel's armpit!"

Kath remarks that her mouth is like a camel’s armpit, and Anita will go and make a cup of tea.   “You know what?

"There's sherry one there, if you fancy it"

“There’s sherry over there, if you fancy it,” Kath informs her,

"These glasses are sparkling, Kath"

and she is impressed by the sparkling condition of the glasses, which Kath explains is Brynmor’s doing.

"All right – I'm coming"

In the kitchen at Penrhewl, we hear Huwi-John shouting for his mother, and as she is going to see what he wants, DJ comes in.

"Have you sorted out the situation with Alaz?"

“Have you sorted out the situation with Alaz?” he demands, “I’m phoning the authorities later.”   Eileen insists that they need more time, but he points out that it is too much of a risk.

“You have to take risks sometimes,” says Sioned and then they hear the unwelcome voice of John Deri Fawr.

"What do you want?"

“What do you want?” Sioned snarls,

He says he is going to New Zealand

and he says he is leaving the area for a while, to go and see his daughter in New Zealand.   Sioned assumes that he will be needing a tenant, in that case;

"We're still interested, aren't we, DJ?"

“We’re still interested, aren’t we, DJ?” she replies.

He does not look convinced

DJ reluctantly confirms this, but without much conviction.   “Good – I’ll get in touch with the paperwork,” says John,

The farm keys are put down on the table

and puts a bunch of keys down on the table, before walking out of the farmhouse.

"Our own farm, DJ!"

Sioned is jubilant, “Our own farm!” she squeals, excitedly,

DJ could not look less enthusiastic

but DJ is very much less enthusiastic.

"We have an explanation for you"

In the Deri, when Ffion and Jinx come in, Jaclyn asks if they want lunch, as she has made a lovely risotto;  Ffion announces that they are not there to eat, and Jinx says they have an explanation for her.   “To apologise for leaving the other night,” says Ffion,

"Yes, it was rather rude"

and Jaclyn agrees that it was rather rude.

"Jinx thought . . ."

“We’re sorry – Jinx thought . . .”

"No – we both thought you'd killed someone"

but he is quick to interrupt that they both thought Jaclyn had killed someone, which she finds somewhat alarming.

“I saw you drag something into your car, wrapped in a carpet – we thought you’d done something dodgy.”   Jaclyn cannot believe that they would think such a thing of her.

However, there is more,

"I went to check your bedroom"

and Ffion explains, “You know when I went to the toilet – I went to check your bedroom – I’m so sorry, Jaclyn!” and Jinx adds that he is also sorry.

"Come on, then, Starsky and Hutch!"

Jaclyn takes off her apron and growls, “Come on, then, ‘Starsky and Hutch’ – you’re coming with me!”

Gwern gets a drink from the fridge

Dani is asleep on the sofa when Gwern comes in and gets a drink from the fridge;

"Your stomach is feeling better, then?"

Dani asks if his stomach is better

His stance looks rather odd . . .

and notices that he is holding his head in a rather strange position.

. . . and he reveals his butchered ear

He shows her the inflamed state of his ear, and says that he tried to pierce it;

"You know I can't stand piercings for boys!"

“You know I can’t stand piercings for boys!” she exclaims, “Is that why you didn’t go back to school after lunch?”

"The head teacher's daughter has a nose piercing"

He replies that the head teacher’s daughter has a nose piercing;

"This is something to do with Arwen"

“Is Arwen something to do with that?” she asks, and he insists that this was his idea.   “Right, we’ll see about that!” Dani threatens, and will not take any notice of Gwern’s protests;  “I’ve had enough!   Fetch a towel and I’ll look for the first aid kit.”

Dani tries to contact Ffion

She makes a phone call.

"And he finished with me by e-mail!"

At Maes-y-Deri, Anita is knocking back the sherry and droning on to Kath about her misfortunes;  “And he finished with me by e-mail!” she complains, “Men are horrible, aren’t they?”

"You said he treated you like a princess"

Kath reminds her that she had earlier said that Ieuan treated her like a princess, but Anita goes on, “No man deserves our time or attention!”   Kath disagrees with this, pointing out that Mark and Brynmor are not horrible.

"Ah, Mark – he's lovely, isn't he?"

Anita slurs, “Ah, Mark he’s lovely, isn’t he?

"He's handsome – in the right light!"

“He can look handsome, you know – in the right light!”

"Go easy on that sherry"

Kath advises her to go easy on the sherry, and is not drinking her own, as she is on strong painkillers.

Anita lurches forward to grab Kath's glass

Anita wastes no time in grabbing the glass, commenting, “More for me, then!   But you’re quite right, they’re not all horrible – Meic wasn’t, was he?   But since Meic, well –

"They've all been horrible!"

“Moc, Siôn, Mickey, Ieuan have all been horrible.   And look at you with Brynmor – he’s like something out of a novel.”

"Yes, I know how lucky I am:

Kath knows very well how lucky she is.   “And when you compare the two of us – you’ve bagged Prince Charming,

"And I'm on my own!"

“and I’m on my own!” wails Anita.

Kath suggests that she might be giving the wrong impression;  “Listen, the truth might hurt,

"You can come over as a bit snobbish"

“but you sometimes come across as a bit snobbish – a bit self-important.”

"They've all used me"

Anita regards that as total rubbish, but then relapses into her memories, “And you know, apart from Meic, no man has respected me – they’ve all used me.”

Ffion and Jinx are shown the evidence . . .

In Jaclyn’s bedroom, Ffion and Jinx stare at the large teddy bear on the bed;  “I couldn’t bear to live on my own, so I bought him –

 . . .a Tedi bear called Osvaldo

“his name is Osvaldo,” Jaclyn informs them.

Dani is calling Ffion

Ffion’s phone rings and she finds that it is a call from Dani, which she does not answer.   She says how sorry she is that she was prying.

"I spilt red wine over him and the rug"

Jaclyn continues, “I spilt red wine over him and the rug, so I took them to Swansea to be cleaned.”

"I'm an idiot, Jaclyn"

Jinx concedes that he is an idiot, with which Jaclyn agrees wholeheartedly,

"There's nothing sexual going on"

while making it very clear, “There’s nothing sexual going on.”

"We never thought there was"

Both Ffion and Jinx declare that the thought had never entered their heads,

"He's less hassle than a dog"

as Jaclyn reveals, “I just like to cwtch up at night, and he’s less hassle than a dog.”   They take their leave of her.

"AT least you tried, Mark"

In the Deri, Dani can still get no answer from Ffion, and tells Mark, “At least you tried.

"Andrea must think I'm a right fool!"

He wishes he had not now, groaning that Andrea must think him a right fool.   “Andrea’s not like that,” Dani points out,

"I should have realised that from the start"

and he agrees that he should have realised that from the start.

"I am sorry it didn't work out"

“Look, I am sorry it didn’t work out,” says Dani.

"Yes, an illegal immigrant"

John Deri Fawr is standing by his Land Rover, speaking on the phone;  “Yes, an illegal immigrant – he is staying at Penrhewl Farm, Cwmderi.

"The owners know he's there"

“Yes, the owners know he is there – I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re the ones who trafficked him there – a free farmhand.”   He gets into the Land Rover, takes out the Sim card from his phone

The Sim card evidence is discarded

and throws it on to the track, before driving away.

Kelly has been summoned

Kath has surreptitiously summoned Kelly, and Anita shouts, “I’m making us a cocktail, OK?   And I’m going to call it ‘Heartbreak’.”

"Cocktail?"

Kelly is surprised by this and is informed by Kath, “She’s finished the sherry and she’s heartbroken, poor dab.”   Anita announces from the kitchen that there is only lager in the fridge,

"We haven't fitted the cocktail bar yet!"

and is told, “We haven’t fitted the cocktail bar yet!”

Kelly makes her presence known, and Anita is pleased to see her;

"Are you having a cocktail with us?"

“Are you having a cocktail with us?” she asks.

“No, I’ve come to take you home,” says Kelly,

"Kath needs to rest"

“Kath needs to rest,” and Anita moans that life is not fair,

"I have a friend there who cannot walk"

“I have a friend there who cannot walk – and then there are men like Ieuan who dump you by e-mail, because Mami told him to – and what’s so sad is,

"We could have gone on a cruise together"

“Kath, me, Ieuan and Brynmor could have gone on a cruise together.”

"You said you were going to dump him"

“I’m sure that Kath is gutted,” responds Kelly, “Right, home, yeah?   You said you weren’t bothered anyway – you actually said you were going to dump him, so . . .”

"He can't hurt me any more"

Anita maintains that she lied, but stresses that now he cannot hurt her any more.   Kath is very pleased to see the back of Anita.

"Head teachers don't usually call"

Dani has managed to contact Ffion;  she and Arwen arrive at the Deri flat.   “You know that head teachers don’t usually call when parents phone?” Ffion points out.

"Show Ffion your ear"

Dani instructs Gwern to show his ear to Ffion,

"Mrs Llywelyn!'

who corrects her, “Mrs Llywelyn!”

Dani believes that it is infected

Dani believes that the ear is infected, and emphasises that Arwen was involved,

"Because of that nose ring thing"

“Because of that nose ring thing she’s got.”   Ffion laughs that it is not real

Arwen removes it

and tells her daughter to remove it.

"You forced me to get this!"

This does not go down well with Gwern;  “You forced me to get this because you had one!” he rages,

"You were happy for me to do it"

and Arwen casually comments that he was happy for her to do it.

"You did it?"

Ffion is furious that she was the perpetrator, and apologises profusely to Dani,

"Ms Thomas!"

who sternly replies that she is, “Ms Thomas, and I don’t want her anywhere near Gwern again – do you understand?”

"Wimp!"

Arwen scathingly describes Gwern as a wimp, but her mother orders that she will not go near anyone until she learns to behave;

"You've gone too far!"

“You’ve gone too far!   Come on!”   Gwern looks suitably penitent.

Kelly is in a confrontational mood

Kelly approaches Tomos ac Ellis in a resolute manner, and bangs on the window of the shop, shouting, “Griffiths!” at the top of her voice.   Jason can be seen running after her, as she demands, “Out here, now!”

"Can I help you?"

When Griffiths emerges from the shop and asks if he can help her, she answers,

"Take that witch of a mother with you!"

“Yeah – drop dead and take that witch of a mother of yours with you!   Do you know what?   You’ve treated Auntie Anita appallingly.

"Your relationship with your mother – really weird!"

“And another thing, your relationship with your mother – really weird!”

By this time Kelly’s raised voice has attracted attention,

"I wanted everybody to know that, OK?"

Kelly addresses the listeners, “I wanted everybody to know that, OK?”

"You'll regret this!"

Griffiths argues that it is all lies and that she will regret the outburst.

"Are you going to set Mami on us?"

“What are you going to do – set Mami on us?” she demands, and Griffiths retreats into the shop.

"Do you feel better after that, Kelly?"

Jason asks if she feels better after that, she replies, “Much better!”

"Makes your relationship with a teddy bear look normal

Across the road in the doorway of the chip shop, Jinx remarks to Jaclyn, “Wow – it makes your relationship with a teddy bear look totally normal.”

"Diolch"

As they are walking across the farmyard, Eileen teaches Alaz a few Welsh words, such as, “Diolch,” [meaning ‘thank you’]

"Croeso"

and “Croeso,” [meaning ‘you’re welcome’].

The constabulary arrives

As the camera peers over the wall, we see a police car and another unmarked car arriving at the farm.

Mark is despondent . . .

Mark is sitting dejectedly in the Deri when the the door behind him opens and Andrea comes in;

. . . but then hears a familiar voice

“Mark,” she says, and he turns in amazement,

"Did you miss the train?"

assuming that she missed the train.   “I didn’t reach the station,” she replies.

Dani is also surprised

Dani comes in and is also surprised to see her.

“Can we start over?” asks Andrea, and Dani agrees that of course they can;

"I can't believe you're staying!"

Mark cannot believe that she is staying.   She takes the piece of paper with Garry’s phone number,

She will not need the phone number

and says she will not be needing it.   Dani will leave the two of them together.

"I've got a life here, haven't I?"

“There is something to keep me here,” Andrea tells Mark, “I was searching for a new life, but I’ve got a life here, haven’t I?”

Mark is initially speechless

He stands there, dumbfounded, then says that he is really glad;

"I need to hem my 'Super Postman' cloak!"

“I need to hem my ‘Super Postman’ cloak!”

Andrea laughs

and they both laugh.

Sioned meets the visitors

Sioned has noticed the arrival of their visitors and hurries out of the farmhouse;  a showdown takes place in the farmyard.   Eileen suspects that it was DJ who contacted the police, but he denies this.

Eileen says she owns the farm

Eileen says that she is the owner of the farm, after which Sioned and DJ introduce themselves, Alaz is said to be Alwyn, the farmhand.

"A vulnerable person is staying here"

DC Stevens, who previously interviewed Aaron over his ‘right-wing’ sympathies, declares, “We have been told that a vulnerable person is staying here illegally – a person who does not have the right to be in this country.   I need to talk to him.”

"They already know, Eileen"

Eileen gives the excuse that he is very shy, and DJ realises that that they already know.

"He's a refugee from Kurdistan"

Eileen then confesses that he is a refugee from Kurdistan, and is asked if there is more than one.

Alaz confirms he has been well treated

Another of the officers takes a phone to Alaz, and he speaks to a translator;  “Ew li vir ji minre dilovan in.   Ere, stargeh u zwarina min heye.”  [They are more kind to me here.   Yes, I have been given shelter and food]

"He's being looked after"

The officer reports that he is being looked after.

"I'm arresting you, Eileen Probert"

Eileen is to be arrested on suspicion of child abduction,

Sioned protests vehemently

and Sioned protests, “All we’ve done is to give him somewhere safe to stay!”   DJ warns her that this is serious and they are talking about human trafficking.   Sioned screams that this is totally wrong;

"You're all pigs!"

“You’re useless, the lot of you – you’re arresting the wrong people – but there we are, you’re all pigs!”

“Right, Sioned Rees, I’m arresting you for breach of the peace,” she is informed by DC Stevens, and is cautioned.

"Mrs Eileen, me?"

Alaz turns to Eileen and says, “Mrs Eileen, me?”

He is led to the police car

before walking to the police car.

"Diolch!"

He stops and says, “Diolch!”   Eileen, in tears, waves to him.
