"Sheets are sheets to me, Col"

Next morning, Colin asks how the sheets were, and Garry irritably replies, “Sheets are sheets to me, Col.”   

"What are you plans for today?"

He is asked what his plans are for today, 

"Are you reporting back to DI Wilkinson?"

and growls, “What are you doing – reporting back to DI Wilkinson?”   Colin thought that he would be looking for a job or something.

Garry maintains that he has plenty of pokers in the fire, 

Aaron looks in the fridge

and as Aaron comes in for his breakfast, 

"I can offer a couple of shifts in the chip shop"

Colin suggests, “I can offer you a couple of shifts in the chip shop, if you fancy.”   

"I'm not quite that desperate!"

Garry laughs that he is not quite that desperate;  “No, you stick to the grease!   I’m going to the garage later to get things in order.”

"When you see how empty the garage is . . .'

Aaron is surprised that he has not been there already;  “When you see how empty it is, you’ll want to go back to the clink!”   

"Empty?   What do you mean?"

Garry demands what he means, 

"Whoops – shouldn't have said that"

and Aaron realises he should not have said that.   

"You should speak to Mark"

Colin advises Garry that he should speak to Mark about it.

That is exactly what Mark is afraid of

Meanwhile, Mark is still looking very anxious, and peers out of the window, expecting to see Garry at any moment.   

"Where am I meant to eat breakfast?"

Kath comes in and complains about the state of the place;  “Where am I meant to eat breakfast?” she demands, “I can’t be late at the shop – I’m the manager.”

"I'll make some room for you"

Brynmor says that he will make room for her at the table, where he appears to be doing some motorcycle repairs, but she does not want to eat amongst all that dirt.   

"Clear this up – it stinks of curry!"

Then she turns to Mark;  “You can clear this up – it stinks of curry!   I’m fed up with tidying your mess!”

"I'm leaving Cwmderi!"

“You won’t have to do it much longer – I’m leaving Cwmderi!” he announces, 

"Simply tell Garry what happened!"

and she urges him to simply tell Garry what happened.   

"You do realise we're talking about Garry Monk here?"

“Mam, you do realise we’re talking about Garry Monk here?” Mark exclaims.

“Go and talk to him – you can’t hide here or run away like a schoolboy!” she tells him, “Just sort it out – the sooner the better!”   Brynmor is chuckling, 

"I don't know why you're laughing!"

so she turns to him and snarls, “I don’t know why you’re laughing,” 

"I'm not in trouble with Garry Monk"

and he replies that he is not in trouble with Garry Monk.

“You’ll be in trouble with me if I find oil stains on that table!”she warns, “Please, Brynmor, find somewhere else to keep them – 

"I'll throw you away as well!"

“ or I’ll throw them all away – and throw you with them!”   

Mark onders his options

With that, she marches off for her shift at the shop.

Greta keeps an eye on Iolo

At number 7, Greta is playing on her tablet at the table and Iolo has prepared a lunch box for Tyler;  “Wow – coffee in bed and lunch!” Tyler exclaims, 

"What if I treat you to a meal out tongith?"

“You’re giving me a lot of attention, Mr Davies White.   I’m not complaining, but I just don’t want it to be one way – what if I treat you to a meal out tonight?   Ask your Dad to babysit Greta, then we can have a meal and a couple of drinks after work – 

Iolo agrees that would be nice

“date night.”

"Ta-ta!"

Tyler leaves for work, and Greta says, “Ta-ta,” to him, while Iolo looks guilty.

"I still feel a bit 'off'"

In the Deri, Tesni informs Cassie that she did not stay with Siôn last night as she still feels a bit ‘off’.   

"Should you go and see the doctor?"

Cassie advises her to go and see the doctor;  “After what we talked about yesterday?” Tesni replies, “I respect your opinion.”

"I got this from the chemist"

Cassie takes from her bag a pregnancy test, which she picked up from the chemist yesterday.

"Is that what you would do?"

“That’s what you would do in my position?” asks Tesni, and it is pointed out that it is better to be safe than sorry.

"I didn't have to drag you off the sofa this morning!"

Unusually, Eifion is at work at APD, and Jason comments, “I didn’t have to drag you off the sofa this morning!   Did anyone else keep you awake all night?”   

"I slept alone"

Eifion replies that he slept alone, and is rather irked when Jason broadcasts this news to Tyler, 

"Eifion's coming with us today!"

“Did you hear that?   Eifion’s coming with us today – he slept last night.”

"Who was she?"

“I heard you had a good night the night before last,” says Tyler, “Who was she, then?    You can tell me – 

"I won't rip into you like them"

“I won’t rip into you like them.”   Jason cautions that Tyler is only after gossip that he can share with Iolo.   Tyler’s retort is, “You’re the biggest gossip – you’re like your mother!”   

"We've got work to do!"

Jason urges them to go, because they have work to do.

"Thanks for covering for me"

Eifion thanks Tyler for covering for him yesterday, 

"That's what mates do"

and is told that is what mates do.

Mark creeps into the chippy flat

Mark has plucked up courage and is just coming into the chip shop flat;  

"What's wrong?   Phone not working?"

“I’ve been expecting you,” Garry tells him, “What’s wrong, Mark?   Phone not working?   Or have you just got bad service?”   Mark alleges that he had forgotten that Garry was being released.

"I don't like having surprises!"

“I like giving surprises – I don’t like having them!” Garry continues, menacingly, “What happened to the bikes?”   Mark confesses that someone stole them, and is asked whether someone broke a window, or smashed a lock.

"I forgot to lock up – but only once"

“I forgot to lock up,” Mark whimpers, “But only once.”

"It only has to happen once!"

Garry explodes, “It only has to happen once!” and Mark looks frightened to death, as he continues, “I don’t know why I trusted you to do anything!”   He is told that Mark will repay him, but Garry wants to know how he will manage to do that.

"I can find the rest, I promise you"

“Well, I’ve got some money left from the raffle – and I can find the rest, I promise you,” Mark maintains.

"Kath will be putting up 'missing person' posters . . ."

“Good,” Garry snaps, “If you can’t, Kath will be walking around, putting up ‘missing person’ posters 

". . . on every lamppost from here to Llanarthur!"

“on every lamppost from here to Llanarthur!”   

Mark is quaking in his boots

Mark is petrified with fear.

"I'm tidying up, Kel"

Kelly visits number 7, where Iolo informs her that he is tidying up;  

"I've got your favourite pastries"

“Do you have time for a coffee break,” she enquires, “I’ve got your favourite pastries,” 

"Pain au chocolate?"

and the prospect of ‘pain au chocolate’ persuades him.   

"My favourite person's favourite pastries"

“My favourite person’s favourite pastries,” Kelly adds, and he wonders what is going on.

“It’s that obvious, is it?” she says, “OK, this isn’t a social call – there’s a leak under the sink at Bryntirion.   

"Auntie Anita doesn't know what a stopcock is"

“I hate asking, but Jason is really slow – and Auntie Anita doesn’t even know what a stopcock is.”

"I'll come over when I get a chance"

Iolo will come over when he gets a chance, and Kelly does not want him to get flaky pastry all over his spotless kitchen.   

"You are amazing, Iol!"

“You are amazing!” she says as she leaves the house, 

Iolo wears his customary guilty look

and he continues to look guilty.

Tesni has taken the test, as advised

Behind the bar in the Deri, Cassie watches Tesni come in with her pregnancy test;  “Right, if it’s positive, we’ll go through the options together,” she says.   Tesni maintains that she is sure it will be negative, 

"Whatever it is, you won't be on your own"

but Cassie points out that, whatever the result is, she will not have to be on her own.

"Fingers crossed, now!"

“Fingers crossed, now,” Tesni remarks, 

"What's going on?"

just as her mother comes into the Deri 

Tesni has been caught 'in the act'

and wonders what is going on.

Mark intends to 'do a runner'

Mark comes down the stairs at Maes-y-Deri, having packed a bag and carrying his coat, then looks in the sideboard for his passport.   

"You'll give your mother a heart attack"

Brynmor is concerned, and warns him, “You’ll give your mother a heart attack if you run away.   Come on, Mark, there must be another way out of this.”   

"Garry Monk is after my blood!"

Mark is quite convinced that there is not;  “Garry Monk is after my blood!”   Brynmor suggests that he should talk to Garry, but the terrified reply is, “You don’t talk to Garry Monk, Brynmor – especially when it’s your fault that the garage is empty!”

"There may be a way out of this"

Brynmor comes to the conclusion that there may be a way out of this;  “And we’d make your mother happy at the same time.”   

Mark wants to know more

Mark, who has now located his passport, wonders whatever that could be.

"I'm too young to be a grandmother!"

At the Deri, the requisite time has almost elapsed for the test.   Jaclyn says that she feels sick;  “I’m too young to be a grandmother.”   

The moment of truth has arrives

The timer on Tesni’s phone sounds, and there is a ‘pregnant’ pause, as they all look at each other, before her mother demands, “Check the test, then!”

The result is negative

With a considerable sigh of relief, Tesni discovers that she is not pregnant, which comes as a great relief to all concerned, and Jaclyn insists, “Never do that to me again – don’t make the same mistakes as . . .”   

"As you did?"

Here her voice tails off, and Tesni completes her sentence, “As you did!”   

"Some mistakes are the best thing that could have happened"

Cassie points out that some mistakes people make are the best things they have done, and asks Jaclyn if she agrees, which she does.   Tesni looks much happier now.

Mark again visits Garry

Once more, Mark arrives at the chip shop flat, and Garry is surprised to see that this time he is accompanied by Brynmor;  

"Brought Daddy with you this time, did you?"

“Oh, you brought Daddy with you this time, did you?   If you’re not here to pay me back, I don’t want to hear it!”

"I think you should listen to what Mark has to say"

Brynmor thinks that Garry should listen to what Mark has to say, and Garry agrees to give him five minutes.   

"The garage is empty at the moment"

“Well, the garage is empty at the moment,” Mark begins, rather unnecessarily, and Garry suspects that he is trying to rub it in.   “At the same time, Brynmor is looking for a workshop – somewhere to keep parts, fix old bikes and so on.”   

"For vintage motorbikes, the garage is perfect"

Brynmor takes over, explaining that for vintage motorbikes, the garage is perfect, 

"But I'm not selling"

but Garry is adamant that he is not selling.   Brynmor explains that he wants to rent it – for a fair price – to pay back the money that was lost on the bikes.

"Brynmor's renting the garage to repay your debt?"

“Let me get this straight – Brynmor is renting the garage from me to pay back your debt?” says Garry, 

"Please, Garry!"

and Mark implores him to agree.   

"You've got yourself a deal"

“Go on. then – you’ve got a deal,” Garry tells them.

"Thanks, Gar!"

They thank him and immediately leave the flat, 

"Thank your mother – for landing a sugar daddy!"

with Garry commenting, “You should thank Brynmor – and your mother, for landing a sugar daddy!”

The guilt is eating away at Iolo

Iolo sits down on the sofa with a look of desperation, 

He goes into the kitchen

then walks back into the kitchen, just as Tyler returns;  he gasps, 

"I told the boys we'd meet them for a drink"

“Oh, I forgot – I told the boys we’d meet them in the Deri for a drink – Mathew, Jason and Eifion.”

"You'll have to cancel – you promised me!"

Iolo protests, “You’ll have to cancel – you promised me.   Dad’s taken Greta, and I’ve booked a table – it was your idea!”   

"I'll text Jason now"

Tyler apologises and is going to text them to say they cannot come.

"We haven't had many nights out"

“I’m not angry – we just haven’t had many nights out, just the two of us,” Iolo argues, “I wanted it to be special.”   Tyler promises that it will be.

"We understand each other"

In the Deri, Eifion is pointing out to Mathew that he and Iolo understand each other;  “I’m happy to see him again, and I’m sure he feels the same.”   

"Iolo and Tyler won't be coming"

Then Jason comes over with the news that Iolo and Tyler will not be coming.

Eifion is getting worried

Eifion immediately looks worried, but Tyler is typing something else;  

"Iolo has organised a special evening – nice!"

“Iolo has organised a special evening – nice!” Jason says.

Eifion is disparaging about them

“If they were going to sit in the corner, looking lovey-dovey, I’m glad!” Eifion declares. 

"We should go to Swansea"

“Tonight is a boys’ night – we should have a couple of pints and then go to Swansea.”

"I know what you game is, good boy!"

“I know what your game is, good boy – you just want to find the girl you were with the other night – pig!” Jason remarks.  

"You had better invest in earplugs!"

Eifion maintains that he would not mind finding someone, if they know what he means;  “You had better invest in earplugs!”   

Mathew is singularly unimpressed

Mathew does not find that comment in the least amusing.

"You wouldn't think they were grown men"

Cassie remarks to Tesni, “You wouldn’t think they were grown men – two of them are parents – but there we are, being a parent doesn’t stop life completely.”   

"I'm glad that test was negative"

Tesni is still very pleased that the test was negative.   

"Would you consider having children one day?"

“Would you consider having children one day?” is Cassie’s next question, and Tesni thinks that it is possible, but she and Siôn have not discussed the matter.   

"Plenty of time for that"

She says there is plenty of time for that, but is told, “For you, perhaps – shouldn’t you discuss it with him?”   Tesni appears rather uneasy.

"Sit down, both of you"

At the chip shop flat, Colin tells them to sit down, and Aaron suspects that he has done something wrong;  

"I feel like a naughty boy at school"

“I feel like a naughty boy at school,” Garry comments.   Colin has been speaking to Britt, who is still not 100%.

"Britt wants me to go to Portugal"

“It’s nothing to worry about, but she wants me to go to Portugal,” he continues, 

"I'll look after Aaron"

and Garry volunteers to look after Aaron.   “There is one condition,” Colin adds, 

"She wants you to pay rent"

“She wants you to pay rent – she wants the same arrangement as when she paid rent to you.”

This does not go down well with Garry;  

Garry vehemently objects

“That was different – she had a job – she chose to be here – I have no choice!” he rages, while Aaron smiles.   Colin stresses that he is only the messenger, 

"I offered you shifts in the chippy"

and has offered Garry plenty of shifts in the chippy if he needs the cash.

"It would suit you, wearing an apron!"

Aaron laughs, “It would suit you, Garry, wearing an apron,” but is abruptly told to shut up.

"Either pay rent – or you can't stay here"

“Look, Britt said you either pay rent, or – well – you can’t stay here,” Colin stipulates, 

Garry makes a rapid exit

upon which Garry puts on his jacket and angrily walks out of the flat.   Aaron is still looking very amused.

"You'd better take that bag upstairs, Mark"

Brynmor advises Mark to take his bag upstairs, in case his mother sees it;  as the back door opens, 

"I really appreciate what you did today"

Mark tells him, “I really appreciate what you did for me today – thank you.”

"I'm renting the garage"

Brynmor tells Kath that it was nothing, but then finally confesses, “I helped him out with Garry Monk – I’m renting the garage.”   She cannot believe it, so he explains, “The rent money will get Mark off the hook, and I’ll have somewhere to take all this stuff.”

"But he's just come out of prison"

She reminds him that Garry Monk has just come out of prison;  “Do you really want to go into business with him now?”   

"I shall be a tenant, not a henchman"

Brynmor replies that he will be a tenant, not a henchman – and it will be a reason to go to the village every day.   

"As long as I get my table back"

“As long as I get my table back,” she sighs, 

"There you are – win-win!"

and he regards it as a win-win situation.

"Why don't you come into the bar?"

Cassie brings out a drink to Garry, and complains, “You’d make it a lot easier on my feet if you came into the bar.”   

"Bring the bottle out next time"

He tells her to bring the bottle out next time, if it is so much trouble.   “You don’t sound like a man who’s just got his freedom back,” she comments.

He summarises his woeful life

He summarises, “I haven’t seen my children since coming back – I’m lodging in my sister’s spare room – I have to rent out the garage because my stock was stolen – and my only job prospect is serving chips with Col!”

Cassie will not entertain sacking Tesni 

Then he suggests that they could sack Tesni and he will have her hours, but this idea is opposed by Cassie, who says that she has had a terrible day already.   “And I’ll do better business with her, than you and that long face!   The rent for the garage must help,” 

"The divorce cleared out everything else"

but he replies that is paying a debt, and the divorce cleared out everything else.

“I don’t know what to advise,” she says, 

"Cod and chips – and lots of vinegar!"

“But when I come to the shop, I want cod and chips – and lots of vinegar.”

"No way am I going to Swansea"

Mathew gets back to the shop flat and tells Eifion that no way is he going to Swansea;  

"I'll find someone else, then"

“Come on, it’s still early!” is the reply, “I’ll find someone else then – you and Jason are like old men who want an early night.”

"I'm worried about you, right?"

“Listen, Eifion – I’m worried about you, right?   You’ve been struggling – these nightmares – Iolo,” Mathew emphasises, 

"I'm over it"

but Eifion alleges that he is over it.

"No, you're not!"

Mathew disagrees, and Eifion is becoming angry;  

"If I says I'm over it, I'm over it!"

“If I say I’m over it, I’m over it!” 

"I'm here if you want to talk"

and is reminded that Mathew is there if he wants to talk.   He shouts, “I don’t want a good Samaritan – stop it – there is nothing wrong with me!   I’m enjoying life – 

"I don't want help from you, or anyone else!"

“I don’t want any help from you, or anyone else!”
